The first repair at LJ Automotive was after my car failed the DC vehicle inspection because of emissions. I dropped off my car in the morning, and it was fixed by the end of the day. The actual cost was less than the estimated repair. Yes, you read that correctly. Lee told me it would cost a certain amount, and when I came to pickup the car the actual bill was less than the estimate. Any in-person transaction during this time of the COVID is scary, but that morning I could see instantly that Mr Lee was safe and respectful. He was also humorous and friendly. I felt like I could trust Mr Lee, and thankfully I was right. I would highly recommend him and will definitely visit him first if my car needs any other repairs. Thank you Mr Lee and LJ Automotive for all of your help!! My car just passed inspection, and there was no other repairs necessary. LJ Automotive fixed the problem!

We broke down (belt snapped) on 495 just outside of DC driving in from PA to visit Georgetown. A google search led us to LJ and they instantly offered to help us in our sticky situation. They called us a few times in the next few hours to keep us updated and we were on our way home safely in just a few hours time! Great service and affordable prices.

Buyer Beware Primary Concern: Poor Documentation; Erroneous Extra Charges; Abhorrent Customer Service; Recently went to LJ Automotive for services on a Toyota Camry. We agreed on the scope of work and price for labor and parts before I left the vehicle onsite. The next day, the owner calls stating the additional work with the passenger side tie rods needs to be completed for an additional $200. I agreed to the work to be done, and picked up the vehicle a few days later. Unfortunately, I noticed odd issues with the steering and it was brought to my attention by an MVA inspector that the issue was the same tie rod the owner brought to my attention - which was not replaced. I addressed the issue and made note of the need to present this to LJ Automotive. When reviewing the receipt from LJ I noticed that the items were almost illegible but I could make out the total for parts and labor. The line items did not equal the total and there was additional passenger side tie rod charge for labor was present. I presented the issues with services not rendered and the poor documentation on the receipt. The goal was at the very least get a refund of the additional charge of $200 from the services never rendered and ultimately risked my safety. When I presented the situation, the owner proceeded to dispute items he wrote on his own receipt! Then, he began to threaten that he should have charged more. It was then that I realized customer service was not a priority of this business. Moreover, that this autoshop's lack of standardized billing and documentation practices will be a liability to any one who unfortunately does business here. Please avoid this business until they at the very least change their billing process and attitude toward customer service. If you cannot - I advise you request before and after photos of parts replaced and that the each line item is written down clearly. Finally, be clear to ask and run down each item on the receipt and lay your eyes on the item before leaving the lot. Buyer beware.

Listen, this place right here off of Blair Road, Northwest, DC is the truth ruth!!!!! I will say don't let the outside appearance fool you. You know when you go to some mechanic shops & everything is all plush, state of the art, & clean (like a doctors office😂). This place is not that. Some restaurants, mechanic shops, Mom & Pop stores are what some people refer to as lil' holes in the wall establishments but they often have the best food, best service, or overall best vibe... this is one of those shops.This place is part used car dealership part mechanic shop. Nothing fancy but if you observe carefully & listen to "Nee" (the owner/manager) you start to believe they will take care of you & your vehicle and that was my experience! The brakes went out in my work van recently. The van was not drivable so I had it towed there. Quoted me a price, which I believe was fair considering everything that needed to be done to the van & the size of my vehicle. In actuality, it was a 2 man job for my van and they delivered. I really appreciate Individuals that work well with their hands. Check this shop out...you won't be disappointed.💯👌🏾

Recently bought my car a few months ago. Not the best condition but she got me from point A to B so I couldn't complain. On a cold Tuesday, While moving my mother from southern MD to DC & after driving over 200+ miles that day as I took her home. Around 1am my car began to rattle badly so I pulled over thinking it was a flat tire. Saw no issues. Got back on the highway doing literally 15-25 (speed limit 60) and my tire flies off, gets stuck in between the fender and the ground and we skid across the highway into the emergency lane which was a miracle noone was hurt, there were no other vehicles on the highway and that we safely slid without damaging the vehicle as bad as it could've been. What made it worse was it was freezing and since we were stuck in Maryland no tow company wanted to help us tow it into DC so we sat 2 hours as we waited for one who would finally do it for us to arrive. Spent the next day calling EVERY AUTO REPAIR SHOP in DC and 99% were booked until the next week at best. Stressed out because I live in Baltimore and am now stuck in DC I was blessed to find this hidden gem in NW. The older gentleman who I believe to be the owner was very understanding of my situation, promised to get me back on the road as soon as possible and boy did he deliver. Brought my car in the same day and within 20-30 minutes of me dropping it off and leaving he called with the issues to my car with a more than reasonable & affordable price. Got it done in no time, took two days but he wanted to make sure the vehicle was better than before and safe to drive so he didn't charge me extra for the additional work and time needed. Now I'm home after a crazy and scary experience. Overall, this place deserves the praise. They are understanding, reasonable with prices, fast & efficient with their work and I intend to come back anytime I need maintenance. If I could give 6 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I would. Salute to LJ Auto Repair, you guys did a great job.

I had been taking my vehicles here for minor work over the course of several years. At first, the owner seemed kind and appreciative of my business. Although there were glaring red flags, such as the place looking like a total disaster, with customer's information laying around for everyone to see, or the way the owner severely neglected his hygiene and appearance. However, part of me liked the idea that I was supporting a local immigrant owned business. The owner, unfortunately, eventually became passive aggressive and semi-confrontational toward me, for no reason at all. For example, he made a big deal about the way I wrote my phone number and went on rants about how bike lanes and Federal workers teleworking were a waste of his taxpayer dollars. At the end, he lost my trust, when he inferred that he would change a part of my car that didn't need to be changed if I didn't agree to pay an arbitrary $65 diagnostic fee.
