My friend and neighbor, Carol, told me about this shop and how honest and reliable they are. I took my SUV there for an A/C repair and they are very reasonable and honest. As a female, one is quite often taken advantage of in the world of car repair. They even gave me a ride to work when I dropped it off. One of my elderly friends at church was having trouble with her car and I recommended Mackey. Again, because of their honesty and reliability. I certainly would not hesitate going there again or recommending them to friends/family.

🔵-I brought my car to two Mercedes dealerships North Olmsted and Ganley and they could figure out why my radiator fan was constantly running on high. Both dealerships wanted me to spend thousands to replace everything. I brought my Benz down to Mackey to look at a few different issues I was told was wrong and Mackey and saved thousands. More importantly the problem two Dealerships couldn’t figure out Mackey did. 🎯Very friendly staff and the tech had patience’s with me explaining to me what was wrong and the procedure how to fix it. I’ve brought my car here a before for brakes and pump. 🎯I will continue to use Mackey auto for there professionalism ,expert service and problem solving and there reasonable pricing.

Be careful the 2 owners (brothers) calm and friendly demeanor will calmly bite your pockets at anytime. Charged me $700 misdiagnosed the problem on my 2016 dodge grand caravan 3.6 there was no cracked plastic upper intake. It was a miss and it was internal motor related if they would have scanned the car properly and looked at the Livestream data, it would say what cylinders were misfiring and also tell a person what specs were on the cam and crank sensors, etc and matched them up. So I basically was out $700 and took the van home. They wanted to charge me 2600 after that.

Based on Mackey's 4+ star Google rating, we took our car to Mackey Radiator. Auto Care for what we thought was a radiator leak. I wish there were a Zero or less stars option to reflect how terrible our experience was – 33 days, $698, and constant run-around about what they were doing with the car, and the problem we approved/paid for is not fixed! Dropped off the car on December 28, 2023. They told us the problem was actually a water pump leak, and because they had to remove timing belt to get to the pump, we should replace both (we approved). We paid for the water pump and timing belt. We go to pick up, they say the battery is not holding a charge and leaking battery fluid (and that “sometimes that happens when you add new component parts”?). They replace battery, we go to pick it up, car is not starting, something is wrong with the electrical system (and they vaguely imply that they might have done or not something to electrical system when they replaced timing belt but they promise to diagnose the problem at their own expense, generous). Weeks went by – no one but the owner would talk to us when we called to ask for status of repairs, he was never there, so we would leave messages and wait sometimes days for a call back. He told us something different every time about why there was a delay. Twice, while they were still diagnosing what was wrong with electric system, he tried to talk us into putting a new engine in the car while they had it because “then the car will be like new” (maybe to cover up whatever they messed up?). We picked the car up 33 days later, January 29, 2024. Owner refused to give us a written summary of everything they did to the car AFTER the water pump and timing belt (the only two things we approved), he wouldn’t even give us a receipt showing that we picked the car up that day. He told us he didn’t really keep track, mumbles something about a couple of things he thinks they did “which is actually an upgrade”. Said he would ask the mechanic to tell him what all he did to the car, and he’ll email us the next day. We have not received that email (or a call back about sending us the details) and don't expect to hear from them. AND now, the water pump is STILL leaking (the only thing we have a receipt for is not fixed). We don’t have any hope of getting any reply from Mackey. The owner is a liar and a cheat based on our experience. We've filed a Better Business Bureau complaint (but Mackey has multiple un-answered BBB complaints so we expect ours will go unanswered also).

I recommend you stay away from this place. My car got a number of random scratches on the outside after I got my car back. I'm pretty sure they weren't there before. Make sure you take pics of your car and note any scratches or damage before you take it to a mechanic. Also it was kind of dirtier inside too and had a weird smell. Only like 1 fix actually worked and a number of others didn't. But the worst part were the scratches and inside.

Very UNPROFESSIONAL. They have had my kids car for going on the second week. Never called the warranty company, my kid did. Lying saying the warranty company is taking a long time, when Melissa DID NOT DO WHAT SHE WAS SUPPOSED TO DO. Then you have a mechanic that supposedly works over, to never be working on the car. Spark plugs and a timing belt. I understand you have to get it right but now going into the second week, of my kid barely able to get to work!! UNACCEPTABLE! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY. Warranty or not, we will take our chances with the dealership, where we know the car will be fixed in a timely manner. This company doesn’t even deserve 1 star. I wish I knew the owner. If they stood for this shame on them.

I got my car done a month ago, I have a 2018 Ford Taurus Limited, it needed a water pump timing chain combo, I called All Around price quotes for between 3 and 4,000 because it's a major job you have to basically lift up the engine to replace that water pump because it's in a bad location and then the timing chain is attached to it so that has to be replaced also. So I had a friend refer me to Mackey radiator I called them up I got a price that was half of what the other companies wanted I was a little leery I have to admit because I've never paid more than $1,200 for any service on my car ever in my life and I've been driving for over 40 years now, I went I took a term we had a nice long talk beforehand I brought in the car the next day he had it fixed within 4 days I got it on I took it to him on Thursday evening and it got back to me Tuesday at about noon and it's been a month and knock on wood everything has been fine the water pump timing chain is doing very well haven't had any issues with it at the moment haven't had to add any radiator fluid to the reservoir and the valve cover gaskets are also very clean just wanted to say good job Mackey radiator thank you for doing the work and I'm happy with the work that you have did

I had a steering shaft replaced. Told me I needed to put down 250.00 and another 165.00 when the car was done. Paid 250.00 dollars down and charged me 432.00. and they haven't refunded the 250 dollar deposit. So basically got scammed.

My engine blew on the highway, got towed to Mackey's. Had to get a new engine and all the connecting parts. I'm thankful that they've taken there time and consideration to know and make sure my vehicle lasts that much longer so that I can work and provide services for our community. PLEASE DON’T BRING YOUR VEHICLE HERE. THIS IS MY FOURTH TIME BRINGING IT BACK FOR THE SAME ISSUE!! To make it worse, it’s causing an even bigger issue now. I brought my vehicle for a radiator repair due to smoking and overheating. They charged me $579 to replace the radiator and the smoking and overheating persisted. I brought it BACK. They told me I needed a radiator cap and the smoking and overheating persisted. I brought it back a 3rd time and they told me they could charge $200 to “see” if it’s the water pump and stated that they didn’t see anything overheating or smoking. I left it an additional day and told them to do an extended test drive because knew that the vehicle was having issues. Long story short, they ended up resetting my codes and not fixing anything or giving me a definitive answer. I’m finally on my way to bring it back for the FOURTH time and my vehicle is now completely disabled after smoking and running hot. They did not offer me a tow or any type of assistance at all whatsoever. Had the issue been fixed any of the prior 3 times, my vehicle would be running right now. Instead, I am stuck on the turnpike with my 3 year old daughter with my disabled vehicle trying to choose between fixing an issue on my vehicle that should’ve already been fixed or towing it to the same idiots that didn’t fix it the first time.

Do not go there the worst experience I ever had. They rip you off. I paid $1000 up front. They held my car for a year. Then when I complained again after my surgeries and rehabilitation that it still wasn't finished. Play hurry up and finished it and charge me three times the amount. The initial estimate was only $780. Then it went up to 1,000. Then he wanted 3K. I wasn't driving much after my surgery but within 300 mi the car broke down badly again due to their incompetence. That was a mechanic up into my heart issues. They were the first people to ever work on one of my cars besides myself in 40 years(since I was a mechanic). All I needed was a tensioner. I got it back running worse then when I took it in. The timing was a notch off and it had been hit parked in their driveway from my bumper is crooked. Also he left it unlock and everything was stolen from inside even though I think they did it it was still on locked in the parking lot when I checked on it a week later to pay him and everything was stolen. The worst place ever. Don't take your car there unless you want to be ripped off. Be warned... This is all true. The car is still broke down for 2 years since. 3,000 for 300 mi....SMH Sincerely, dissatisfied customer
