McDermott's Service & Repair is highly recommended. They know what they are doing by providing information about my vehicle in terms I understand since don't know much about cars. They have kept my cars up to date on maintenance needs, recommended service without pushing (letting me know what could wait and what may need to be done sooner for safety) Marcus is friendly when calling and gets you in around your needs when able. He is also patient, understanding and knows vehicles especially when you don't know much about vehicles or you don't remember what was recommended the last time. Everyone working at McDermott's is friendly, knowledgeable and willing to help get things fixed or done in a timely manner. Ben is a great owner who truly cares about people, service, experience, expectations and his team overall. I have sent many people to McDermott's and will continue always a great place to service your vehicle!

Cars for me are a necessary evil, but the gentlemen at McDermotts are amazing and make me feel so comfortable in and with my vehicle. They are incredibly kind and straightforward, and let me ask all of the questions I want. I don’t understand the first thing about cars, and after getting a horribly overpriced quote from a different mechanic a few years ago, I came across McDermotts who actually explained that I could go elsewhere for cheaper and more specialized service, and after taking them up on that recommendation I’ve been a return customer ever since. They’ve chuckled at my mistakes and gently guided me to correct decisions about my car, remaining incredibly friendly and helpful throughout all of my blunders and misguided requests. I have nothing but appreciation for this team, and cannot recommend them enough. To the women who are looking for a friendly face to explain your car without fear of being overcharged - from one happily-clueless lady to another, please give these guys a visit.

I’ve been searching for a new local repair shop and am very pleased with 2 recent experiences getting my car fixed. The first was a planned visit and Ben assisted. The second I had my car towed in an emergency and Marcus assisted and was helpful in making a very stressful situation a smooth visit. Both are knowledgeable, friendly and were clear about describing repairs needed, as well as making sure I was OK with the price before performing repairs each step of the way. Also, I’m happy they take pride in ensuring they install quality parts at a fair price rather than whatever’s cheapest. As a female, I value that they didn’t talk down to me and worked as a team to allow me to make decisions about my vehicle rather than pressuring for profit.

I've been able to work with a lot of different businesses over the years, but I have never worked with such a wonderful business in my entire life. We had a new vehicle that turned out to have a fair amount of issues. McDermott's was there to help us every step of the way and their service, price and communication was out of this world. It was a pleasure to work with them and I would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone!

I would never-ever take another vehicle to this place. My daughter had her car towed to McDermott's because it was running rough and stalling. Guy was very condescending to her on the phone. I then spoke with the mechanic and he was the same way. He tried to tell me it was the starter going bad. Said it would be nearly $800. WRONG!!! I said it is doubtful that the starter is bad and he got pissy with me. Told him to stop working on the vehicle. They charged me $98.00 for charging the battery and giving wrong diagnostic. I picked up the car and it started right up. They didn't even look at the codes which would have told them it was a mass airflow issue. Once I got the codes, (any parts store will read codes for free) pulled and cleaned the AGR, reinstalled and it runs great. I spent $7.00 on a can of carburetor cleaner. This is why it is so hard to trust mechanics. This is not rocket science. Read the codes, find the part and replace it.

My family and I cannot say enough positive about Brian and his wife. We just picked up our first ever travel trailer and halfway up the East Coast had an issue on 95 at 2am Sunday morning. Called McDermott's Sunday morning and they answered. A couple of hours later they were at our location. Not only did Brian respond on a Sunday and fix our problem, he gave us an education on the basics, told us where we could park to address some other issues unrelated to his business and offered to follow us to make sure we got there okay. His price was EXTREMELY fair. He could have crushed us for a Sunday emergency call and did not take advantage of the situation. Knowledgeable, capable and responsive. You will not go wrong.

I'll echo the great front desk service! Recently moved to WI and was looking for a local small shop. McDermotts was highly recommended by several coworkers and I agree. The gentleman in front was polite and informative, did a great job explaining everything on my quote without coming across as talking down or 'fear mongering' me into signing a blank check.

Normally I don’t write reviews but these guys are exceptional! I was having brake issues with my 2014 BMW 4 series and had it towed to this shop because a friend had a good experience with them. Ben and Mark helped me throughout the process and WITHIN 24 HOURS they had me back on the road. These guys were very personable, very fast, and have reasonable prices too, I will definitely be going back in the future! Best in the Madison area that I’ve found in my 5 years here, thanks again.

OK, what repair shop do you have that can service a 2009 BMW, a 2008 Infiniti and a 2017 Mercedes Benz Sprinter? McDermott's Service & Repair is who we use. These guys are the go to guys for any brand and I've seen them all in their shop (different brands). Fair, integrity, on time. Use em, you won't go back to whomever you used in the past.

After struggling to find a reliable, honest, fair price, knowledgeable mechanic in Madison, I found McDermott's through a recommendation, and what a recommendation! Great communication, great service, good prices, and more importantly honest...AND a free loaner car while my Fiat 500 was being worked on. Just an A+++ auto mechanic.

McDermotts definitely seems to be giving every aspect of car repair their best! Had my Veloster serviced a couple weeks ago and I'm extremely glad that I did. Communication was great! Realistic expectations were set at check-in. Check-in was quick and direct. Updates from the shop ensured I was never left wondering what was going on. Cost was more than reasonable and everything was explained on the bill in clear itemized terms. I had some questions after the repair and they all got answered. Direct, honest service that respects my time. I couldn't ask for more from a car mechanic. Will definitely be bringing my cars back in the future!

What's NOT love (yes, love) about this auto repair shop? Front office person is knowledgeable, service-forward, friendly and helpful. He'll explain in detail without ever "talking down" to a female customer. Mechanics get the job done in a timely manner. On top of it all, the shop maintains a pristine fish tank for those who decide to wait. I'd like more people to know about this really great business, but then those who are already in the know would have to wait longer to get a service appointment. Get your car repairs done here anyway.

I first started going to McDermott's as I was finding an alternative from the stealership a while back. This shop was closest. It first started with oil changes, and then regular maintenance, and then repairs. (I had a problematic car.) I am satisfied with McDermott's service as were helping me with my car. Rarely were there some small issues or whatever (such as misunderstandings/mistakes in phone calls), but they were no big deal and were corrected. Mechanies were honest, and pricing was reasonable (cheaper than the stealership), and McDermott's has even gone out of my way to save money (w/ advice or good used parts). Overall a good experience and would continue doing business with them.

Ok this is a unique post. We took our older vehicle into get looked at. We recieved a quote for repairs. I know that all quotes can vary, so marcus estimate can differ. This being said 2 other sources came in much lower and with very different (but the same as each other) conclusions. Also we got our car back and the passanger seat was covered with rust stains, the front floor and door jam had mud marks. He did call us to say that that he left our car dirty (by accident) and I trusted his statment. He took responsibility. They also had it detailed - the seat only - as the door jam and floor still had mud. He did follow through and was very polite and apopogetic. So since we did not get any work and he did communicate well I do not think it would be fair to go give less than 4 stars. But wanted to share info.

The absolute best place!! This is the ONLY place you should be bringing any of your cars, especially Euro spec cars. We have a Kia and Mercedes and Ben is the most amazing mechanic. He’s able to diagnose and fix those mystery issues that no one else will be able to find, and he doesn’t overcharge for it just because it’s a European car. Marcus at the front is kind and is able to communicate very well with customers, and is always able to get us in. These guys have loaners as well, which is unheard of. Parts are warrantied, and quality is outstanding!!

After driving up from Florida, we found ourselves with a truck that wouldn't start. Our daughter, who lives in Madison, referred McDermott's. They quickly diagnosed the problem (starter), and had it repaired by the following day. Their communication was excellent, they were up-front that other customers who had appointments were prioritized (which I respected), their prices were fair, and their work done before their estimated time. We made it back to Florida with no problems! They have a life long customers in us if we are ever in a pinch again!

I found my new mechanic. I've been looking for one that since the pandemic closed my last guy. Fast, reliable, and honest. It's what I've been looking for. Highly recommended.

I’ve used McDermott’s several times now. They are honest, their prices are competitive, and they get the work done quickly. They even try to save me money when they can. I highly recommend them for your car repairs!

GO HERE!!! I have multiple cars worked on at McDermott’s. These guys are some of the best I’ve ever found at talented diagnostics, maintenance and repair of my cars. Like many people, I drive a lot and I expect to avoid problems with the car while I’m on the road. I expect my vehicles to perform like much newer cars, therefore, I tend to maintain them. Beyond simple service, it’s a great group of guys who are not only professional but friendly, extremely knowledgeable, and will be very honest with you about what is required to keep your car on the road without spending needlessly. Go and see them if you need your car to stay on the road and you’ll find out why I really like them and wrote this review.
