They did a terrific job on a pre-purchase inspection of a used Porsche Boxster for me. Scott and Christina were both terrific at communicating, and they did the inspection one day after I contacted them. Scott sent me 40+ photos of the car from every angle (including underneath) and then spent an hour on the phone going over everything. Superb experience in every way. Very, very highly recommended.

My History Ok, we all look and take a chances on shops that we don't know for the first time, we read reviews and if you know someone that takes there car to that shop we make our decision. I bought my 997 Cs going on 3 years now, with 100k miles, great shape runs great but need more power, did my first dyno @ goodspeed 357hp @ 7k RPM 119 MPH. I did all add on from FABSPEED and got it Tuned Now that's Power.. Blew up engine on the 101 won't tell you how.. Met Stott and Ben while looking for a engine and liked what i saw, Scott gave me choices also the internet. We found a used engine with 49k miles from a 07. litter did they( Scott and Ben) known of me i can hold my own with wrenches. I weighed my time and value and it was a no brainer, Four weeks after engine arrived i am driving. Car has more power now than before i can feel it. Second week put the car on the lift to see what it looks like and liked what i saw. I can call and talk to Scott or Ben and ask questions at any time, like that. Ok How fast am i now dying to know, Scott said Dyno not that good for engine and i said ok. What the hell it is only $$. 405 @ 7K @ 139, sorry Scott had to know. Any one reading this, take a chance you will see what i saw the first time. Derek Carter aka ISLANDA Update 7/27/2020 Took the car in this year for wheel alignment after I went to coilovers, At the same time Had the errors clared because the battery went dead on the car. Thanks Stott and Ben Update 12/3/2020 Took car in for a oil change and look over today after a Pine Top run had a lot of fun, Car is running grate. Thanks Scott and Ben

I recently had Scott do a PPI and a Borescope on a 997 Carrera that I was looking to purchase out in AZ. Scott's wife was very responsive in scheduling via email. After the PPI was completed I received a dropbox of photos and Scott gave me a call to discuss the results while reviewing the photos together. This was easily the most thorough PPI I had ever seen and for Scott to spend the time to review all his findings over the phone was very appreciated. He gave me enough confidence to purchase the car so I flew into Arizona to pick up the car, and without hesitation drove it 5 hours in 112 degree heat back to Los Angeles and the car performed without a hitch.

Wow, Great Porsche Service. From my first phone call the service experience was awesome. The service and repairs were simply explained and the estimate was correct. The repairs are well done. Christina and Scott made me feel like a family member. Keep up the great work.

Great service and communication. I had Scott replace my clutch, RMS and IMS bearing as well as rebuild my driveshafts. Work was done fast and he took the time to show me the worn parts after is was all done. This place IS Porsche experts.

I had a check engine light come on my Porsche Macan S while visiting Scottsdale from Boise, ID. I called Scott in the morning and he said to bring the car right in. Minutes after arriving, I felt like I had known Scott and Christina my whole life. They immediately got the car in and ran diagnostic tests and went over the car and the cause of the fault code. They put my mind at ease as to the problem and assured me that it was OK to continue driving the car. Then, they refused to take any compensation for their work. They are a real treasure and my only concern is that I wish they were located in Boise.

I had an excellent experience with McIlvain Motors for my Panamera. They replaced my control arms and motor mounts, and the quality of their work was top-notch. The team was professional, thorough, and kept me updated throughout the entire process. My car drives like new again! I highly recommend them for any Porsche service. Five stars all the way!

I have been a customer of McIlvain Motors for about 10 years. They have serviced my 2004, 2006 and now my 2005 Cayenne S and my 2001 Boxster 986. As 3rd generation auto industry and Porsche factory trained technician, Scott knows Porsche. Did I mention he is a qualified track performance driving instructor? With his knowledge and passion for the brand and easy going demeaner, he always takes the time to make you and your car the focus. And with Christina at the office helm, you and your Porsche become family. McIlvain Motors is the key to my ongoing ownership of two 20 plus year old Porsches.

I have a '89 944S2 Coupe. After reading many of the reviews and responses I gave McIlvain a call. Had a quick but very pleasant chat with them. I didn't use McIlvain, but I am leaving this review because they quickly and HONESTLY said they don't work on 944s. That kind of honesty is greatly appreciated by most Porsche people. They highly recommended a different shop that I will be taking my weekend ride to next week.

Prior to purchasing my 2017 Porsche Cayman, McIlvain performed a pre-purchase inspection on the vehicle. I was so impressed with how thorough and detailed they were, when I needed 40k service I already knew I'd be taking it back to McIlvain. Scott and Christina addressed all my concerns and performed the service and repairs in a timely manner. They kept me updated along the way and exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend any Porsche owner give McIlvain a shot and guarantee they will not disappoint you!

I live in NJ, but just bought a 997.1 C2S in Tempe. Before I did, I got a PPI at McIlvain Motors and Scott and his team did an excellent job. I highly recommend them. Not only were they thorough (including scoping the cylinders and cutting the oil filter), they took video and pictures of everything and then Scott got on the phone with me and we went through each bit one at a time. Each area of the car, each nick on the paint, each screen from the very deep diagnostic they ran, including over revs and the performance of the intermediate shaft (an indicator of IMS bearing health). These guys know Porsches down to the .1 and .2's and all the little things to look out for. Scott even drove the car for the day and reported back on the strength of the engine, the status of the suspension and engine mounts, and even if the heated seats and interior lights work. In the end, I had a very clear idea of the condition of the car and could purchase with complete confidence, which I did. But it didn't stop there. I asked Scott to replace the water pump and do a couple of other little jobs to basically complete the 60k maintenance on the car so it was all set when I received it. They did it all and their prices were very fair. AND THEN they kept the car garaged for me for 11 days while the seller arranged transport. They even removed a decal the selling dealer had left on the car. All told, total class, very communicative, easy to work with, and generally great guys. I cannot recommend them highly enough for Porsche repairs or PPI work.

There is no task too big or too small for Mcilvain Motors. Both Scott and Christina are hands on, high customer service kind of people. Scott’s knowledge of Porsche is deep and don’t think he could ever be stumped. It’s comforting to know they take care of my 911 as if it was their own. Can I get a 6th star please!

Scott and his team are absolutely fantastic! They are extremely knowledgeable, honest and genuinely care. A rarity these days it seems. If you are looking for the best in class independent shop in AZ for your Porsche (or Audi/VW) these are the guys. I truly cannot recommend them enough!

I couldn’t be happier! Scott, Christina and their team are professional, honest, and go above and beyond to make sure everything is done right. They explained the repairs clearly, did video walk throughs, gave me amazing pricing, and finished the job keeping me informed all along the way. My Macan runs better than ever. Highly recommend this shop to anyone looking for reliable and friendly service! Thank you again! Would rate higher if I could.

I live in Seattle and purchased a used Porsche Cayman S from a dealer in Tempe AZ. I needed a Porsche specialist firm to do a pre-purchase inspection of the Cayman. McIlvain did a thorough examination of the car and gave me a detailed written and verbal report. They identified a number of maintenance issues that I wanted addressed before shipping the car to Seattle. McIlvain and I worked out a detailed work order list and then McIlvain implemented those. The cost of this work was roughly 25% of the purchase price of the car. McIlvain did a good job of keeping me informed of the work progress and confirmed my choice of replacement tires. McIlvain was transparent, trustworthy and prompt. Making a large purchase remotely requires a high level of trust and confidence in those you work with. McIlvain is just such a firm.

I own a 2010 Panamera S. I first tried Tech Plus Automotive, they couldnt even reinstall my front bumper correctly. The interior part was blocking the air flow to my radiator nearly overheating my car, nonetheless, I never went back to them. Then I found Murtha Motorsports. They serviced my front air suspension but didnt catch my front sensor had failed which Mcilvain found and repaired. As a customer, I constantly felt like I was annoying the owner of Murtha, I never felt valued and felt like I was a burden. When youre spending thousands upon thousands of dollars, its not complicated to just hear your customer out and treat them politely, make eye contact, return a phone call or email. When it came time to fix my Panamera timing chain stretch, I knew I had to find a new mechanic, especially since this was going to be a major and expensive operation. I initially emailed them and Christina responded. Then Scott. I asked if I could check out the shop and meet the mechanic that would work on my car. True to their word, I showed up and Scott gave me a tour, and I met Nikita his mechanic. In a nutshell, my entire engine had to be taken out and serviced. You can imagine the level of anxiety I had. After meeting the team, I committed to the repair. From start to finish, Scott and Christina texted me and emailed me updates, pictures and videos on everything fixed, repaired, caught, etc. It was amazing. Ive had my car back for a few weeks now and it literally feels brand new. I just drove interstate going beyond recreational speed limits, and the car was an absolute monster, which is one of the reasons I absolutely love this car. I cant speak for other Porsche shops, but this place hands down has won my business for life. I can only hope that this place exists forever. Scott and his team really care, and if you care about your expensive car, this is exactly who you want servicing it. Hands down, no questions, they are the best. Thank you for letting me be a customer, you are all amazing and I appreciate the care and effort you put into your business. -Tavit

We recently took our 2003 Porsche Cayenne S we have owned for 19 years to Mcilvain Motors in Tempe. What a great decision it was and what a fantastic experience we had at Mcilvain Motors. We needed Right and Left Upper and Right/Left Lower Control Arms, Right outer tie rod end, Left Outer Tie Rod End, and of course, an alignment after they replaced practically the entire front suspension. Scott and Christina kept us informed the entire time of our Cayenne's progress, gave us very attractive pricing and are two of the most trustworthy, nicest, sincere and genuine human beings you will ever meet. They know Porsche's inside and out. They also deduct 10% off your total bill for being Porsche Club of America (Arizona Region) members. What else could you ask for? Highly recommend Mcilvain Motors for your Porsche repair and service needs. Our Cayenne now drives like a dream, is rock solid and tight up front. Thank you Christina and Scott !! See you at PCA Annual Meeting at The Peruvian House March 5th in Scottsdale. Best, David and Svetlana Sambell, Gilbert, Arizona USA

Scott is the real deal when it comes to water cooled Porsches. Brought my 996 911 in for an inspection of a few things and he was informative, professional, and detailed with his findings. He’s passionate about what he does, listens well, and gives honest feedback on what needs to be done urgently, can wait, etc. It’s the mechanic equivalent of speaking with a Dr. who has excellent bedside manners. Highly recommended! I know where I’m taking my Porsches when work is needed.

We recently had McIlvain Motors perform significant work on our Porsche Panamera 4S Executive, including replacement of the front-end air suspension, control arms, and a few additional items. From start to finish, the experience was outstanding. Their knowledge of Porsche vehicles is exceptional—not the kind of general familiarity you find at a typical shop, but deep, specialized expertise that’s immediately evident. They walked us through everything, communicated constantly, and made sure we understood our options at every step. Nothing was pushed on us; instead, they offered informed recommendations and let us decide what made the most sense. The combination of technical skill, professionalism, and genuine kindness made the entire process smooth and stress-free. It’s clear that McIlvain Motors takes real pride in their work and cares about their customers. We’re fortunate to have a top-tier Porsche specialist nearby, and after this experience, there’s really no reason to take our Porsches anywhere else. Highly recommended.
