Although not being able to repair my vehicle, Cesar spent a lot of time troubleshooting, and trying to flash the PCM to the correct firmware. He explained the issue thoroughly and gave me all the information I needed to get the correct replacement PCM, which I ordered and installed in about 15 minutes. I will definitely bring my cars here to service again.

What a great first-time experience at Mesquite Car Care! I am a meticulous guy with high standards, and Cesar and his guys were great. I have had a nagging vibration issue in my BMW 550i ever since I bought it used last year. Went though multiple steps and service providers to try and solve the problem, all to no avail (i.e., new tires, wheel repair, multiple balances, 4-wheel alignment, etc.). Made the huge mistake of taking the car to the dealership to get a road force balance on the false assumption that the dealership would take the most care to make sure the wheel assemblies were within BMW specifications. Couldn't have been more wrong. The service advisor at the dealership simply didn't understand road force balancing (but was quick to write me off like I was the one that didn't know anything!), and the service techs there just weren't willing to take the time to properly diagnose and use the machine to its full potential to get the lowest possible road force numbers, telling me that everything was within spec. They accomplished nothing. The experience with Cesar was far superior. After just a few minutes of talking to him about my problem and road force balancing in general, it was obvious that he knows his stuff and was prepared to take the time to help my get the best possible result. I observed the process in detail. Most tire shops mount the wheel to the balancer through the center bore, then tighten it down with a universal cone before spinning it up. Cesar's shop actually mounts the wheel through the lug holes, which is preferred because that's how it is mounted to the vehicle and is more accurate (the hardware to be able to do this is expensive and I doubt many shops in Dallas even have the ability to do the work this way). They force matched three tires (the fourth we agreed needed no adjustment because it was 5 pounds initially). The first two tires were both 13 pounds before and after force matching (the machine does not always accurately predict what the result will be after force matching). The third wheel was 28 pounds, which is too high for 19" rims and low-profile tires and likely the source of the vibration. After force matching, the assembly was 18 pounds--a significant improvement. Interestingly, all the rims are fairly round, ranging in .007-.003 radial runout (recall the wheel repair). The machine revealed that the tire on the problem assembly was exerting 24 pounds, which is too high for a new tire (going to try and get a replacement from Discount). Cesar's tech also pointed out that there was too much weight on the wheels and was able to get a dynamic balance using less weight, which is preferable. Unfortunately, it was traffic all the way home so I haven't gotten a chance to fully drive the car and determine whether the vibration is gone, but initial indications are positive. Regardless, the point here is that Cesar did everything he could and everything I asked to try and solve the problem. Most importantly he and his guys were thoughtful and deliberate in their work. They listened and were genuine in their efforts. Pricing was fair and less than the dealer for better work. I will be headed straight back for my next repair or maintenance need. UPDATE: The vibration is now nearly imperceptible!! I suspect the remaining vestiges of it are a result of a defective tire. Thanks again, Cesar!!
