I called and asked for an appointment for an oil change and was told that I didn’t need one and to come in when I get off work. When I got off work I arrived at 3:50pm and was greeted at the counter by the manager, Mike who was the one that answered the phone when I called. He then stated that I need an appointment and that he couldn’t get me in. I was pissed. Keep in mind that they close at 6pm. SMH… He was too lazy too book an appointment. That’s why I wanted to make an appointment because I work too.

I had an extremely disappointing experience with this Midas location. I was visiting from Philadelphia when my vehicle required a rear caliper replacement. On December 23, I was repeatedly told the repair would be completed by Friday, December 26, with an estimated cost of no more than $300–$500. Based on these representations, I had the vehicle towed to the shop on December 23. On December 26, I was informed that the incorrect part had been ordered and that the cost would now increase to approximately $1,300. After discussing alternatives, a used part was located at a lower cost. The assistant manager confirmed that the part was correct and placed the order, with an expected completion date of December 30. The part did not arrive until December 31 and, once again, it was the wrong part. Due to the ongoing delays, I was forced to rent a vehicle and return to Philadelphia. Ultimately, my vehicle was not completed until January 12, 2026 — 21 days after it was initially towed — at a final repair cost of $801. After retrieving the vehicle, I discovered the brakes were still spongy. I took the car to another dealership, where it was confirmed that there was air remaining in the brake lines and the system needed to be properly bled — an issue that should have been resolved during the original repair. As a result of these delays and errors, I incurred over $1,500 in additional expenses, including rental car costs, airfare, fuel, and tolls, in addition to the $801 repair bill. These costs were entirely avoidable and stemmed from repeated ordering errors, poor communication, and incomplete workmanship. Based on this experience, I cannot rely on the accuracy of information provided by this location and would not recommend their services. I am currently evaluating my options, including seeking legal advice, regarding the financial losses incurred due to this matter.

I just recently had my car repaired because it was misfiring. Michael immediately told me what the issue was and took care of me instantly. He is very knowledgeable and has excellent customer service skills. He had a manager out sick and held the entire shop down by himself: answering, phones, and taking customers all at the same time. I had an appointment at a different Midas in the area, but when I showed up their equipment was down and they weren’t able to service my vehicle and they told me to head over to the South Bend location and they would take care of it. When I arrived the manager Michael was extremely accommodating and honored my warranty from the other location as well as shared some areas of concern he and his technician Brody had about my car. Providing a quality level of customer service is a dying art, but it has not yet been lost by the South Bend Midas.

I was visiting South bend a couple weeks ago when I got a flat tire. It was a late weekend afternoon and every car shop I called turned me away, except for this Midas. Michael B (store manager) answered the phone and was so patient and caring. He got me in right away. Dominic the technician worked so efficiently as well, removing the screw in the tire and patching it up. Michael B was so caring and thoughtful and only asked that we tip Dominic which I gladly did. Michael B took care of us like family. I was able to drive hundreds of miles safely back home the next day, thanks to his efforts. He genuinely cared for us and our situation. I’ll gladly look forward to going back specifically to this Midas location in South Michigan anytime, thanks to Michael and Dominic. 5 stars doesn’t do their work justice!

I took my truck to check the air conditioning and they told me that I had to change the entire compressor, with a budget of $1,700. In addition, they charged me $199 for the inspection, but at no time did they bring the truck into the workshop or perform a deep inspection. I decided to review the problem on my own and it turned out to be simply a damaged relay that cost $28. After changing it, the air conditioning worked perfectly. I find it worrying that they have diagnosed greater damage without properly verifying the system. I recommend other customers to ask for a second opinion before accepting expensive repairs.
