Extremely rude front desk employee aka manager. I give the technicians respect but the way the person at the front desk has treated me and my husband on two different occasions is disgusting. I warned my husband before he took our car to get the exhaust system repaired that the man at the front desk has “a weird sense of humor.” I literally gave y’all the benefit of the doubt and now we are the problem! The first time I was doing my friend a favor and picked up her car for her and when I walked in I was startled by a random dog in the lobby who was barking at me only to be joked on when I asked about a military discount and he said I’m not special and insulted my intelligence from there. I took it as a jab considering he said he was army and I’m navy so it’s whatever! I have thick skin. Today my husband picked up his vehicle and was quoted $768 over the phone on 23JUL and then when called for pick up it was $855 after taxes. Ok, fine. Just think you should have stated the whole fee. Then, my husband signs a paper that states $855.80 and then when he taps his card he notices the amount on screen says $881. When he asks about the amount the man says it’s a credit card fee. Nowhere did they tell us clearly that there was an additional credit card fee, although we were paying with a DEBIT card and so my husband asked for a refund and would come back with cash. The man then tells my husband “why are you so hard up for $25” and then after that it continues to be disrespectful. We failed inspection for wiper blades and then says “I guess you’re gonna complain about that dollar you owe me when you have to come back.” Hidden fees and rude customer service equals a missed opportunity as we were hopeful this could be somewhere we could trust and feel good about spending our money locally. If you see this review please trust me….I went against my initial impression of him and now here we are writing a negative review. However, it has prompted me to look closer at the Virginia Consumer Protection Act and understand surcharge and convenience fee policies that could ultimately cost businesses such as your own fees of up to $2500 for willful first offense violations. Disheartening.

Took my truck in to get tires mounted and balanced. Had some vibrations over 55mph….they got it back in and fixed it for me. Left a bad review at first, should have just called but either way they got it taken care of. 100% would recommend this shop to anyone just based on their customer service alone.

When you ask the question, how much is it going to cost? One would think that you would get the total price. That was not my experience. I was told $400. However, when I got the bill it was $470. The owner's son was strong-willed as he was not a friendly person. Even though he rectified the issue, he told me prior that he could take the part off which was a pipe that they had to weld on since I couldn't pay the extra $70. Yes he got the bill to $400 like he quoted me. However, I spent 10 minutes raising my blood pressure because they didn't take credit cards over the phone and they didn't take credit cards without a surge charge. He gave me a free oil change. I wouldn't bring my car back there if they were the last mechanic on the Earth. I pray for the father that owns this place because I understand it's a mom and pop joint. However, having your son be the face of your company is not a good thing. I would highly advise going next door or going to someone completely different.

Took my van to Midas on Sat. 23, 2025 to drop off for inspection, the Manager James, who was very RUDE to put it nicely said we probably won't get to it today. I said ok, what about tomorrow? He said NO, that's Jesus's day in a rude tone, instead of saying no, I'm sorry we are closed. They didn't get to my car, so I ended up picking it up and bringing it back on Monday, the 25th. They failed it and wanted to charge me almost $1,000 for repairs, so I said I would get someone else to do the work. My guy tried to do the work, but the lug nuts were tighten so tight, that he couldn't get them off, also they had kept my lug nut key so I had to get another one. I had to take my van back 3 times before they loosened all my lug nuts and get my lug nut key back. I took my van back on Tuesday, the 26th to get my inspection sticker on. The same RUDE manager James said I'll probably won't get to you till Friday. I ask if the owner Mike was here. He said yes. I said can I talk to him, he said NO. My son said why can't she talk to him. He said because he's not here today. My Mom, Son, and I said you just said he was here. He chuckled and said oh, I thought you were asking if he was still the owner. I ask for the owners number, he said NO, I can't give you that. I asked when the owner would be in. He said I DON'T KNOW. I said I will be talking to the owner to let him know that I'm not happy with the way I was treated and how my wheels were tightened so tight, that it could have caused an accident or ruin my rotors, etc. He said maybe you should talk to the owner before I put your inspection sticker on. I went back on Friday, the 29th to get my inspection sticker on. The same manager James said you can drop it off, but I might not get to it. Which I was told by a state police person that they should have put it on the first day that I took it back right then and there. I said I will wait, because I didn't have a ride and you told me to bring it back Friday. Then he said, I told you maybe you should talk to the owner first before I put the sticker on. I called my husband upset, he said let me talk to him. James said no, if he wants to talk to me he can come in. I told my husband maybe we should call wavy 10 on your side. James heard me say that to my husband and said I am refusing you service, you can leave!! I went to my car shaking, my blood pressure was very high and I cried. I sent my son, who 16 back in to get a card with his name on it. He told my son that we were trespassed and need to leave the premises. My son was scared that he was going to call the police on us and said lets leave. I was still upset and shaking and couldn't drive, so I sat there a little longer to calm down before driving. I had already paid $20.00 for the inspection and they should have put my inspection stinker on after I did all the work. Now, I have to take it somewhere else and get it all inspected all over and out another $20.00. I don't know how somewhere can let someone like James deal with customers. It's very bad business. So, if I were you i would NEVER TAKE YOUR VEHICLE TO MIDAS AT 3696 HOLLAND RD VIRGINIA BEACH, VA 23452

Went here to get my brake system diagnosed and worked on due to complete lack of stopping power. I was well informed on both the possible sources of the issue and how we could proceed with the matter, brakes are working far better now, will return for future maintenance needs.

I would not go to this Midas, if it were the last inspection station on the planet!!! The manager James was the rudest jerk to my wife. Because we refused to pay almost $1,000 for brake pads and two rotors, they put our lug nuts on so tight, we had to get professional help to get them off. He was so rude he had my wife crying, blood pressure through the roof, and stated she and my son were trespassing. We ended up having Virginia State Police intervene and solve the matter. They had to put our inspection sticker on and present us with a receipt. I suggest anyone needing Automotive Service, never go to Midas on 3696 Holland Road.

Had an amazing experience, my car failed the state inspections order to pass. I was really worried about being taken advantage of but that wasn’t the case what so ever! Front desk guy explain to me what i needed to have done to fix the car showed me pictures , got it down within 2 hours. Not from the area so having someone describe and break down everything to a dumb level helped a lot.

I went with a friend to get their car inspected and we were immediately dismissed with “we don’t service your car!” When we asked for an explanation the guy at the desk simply repeated the same thing again. The most insane experience ever!

When I asked the dealer for an estimate to repair the air conditioner, they quoted me $3,400, which was a bit of a problem, but Midas agreed to repair it for $1,300, which was a great help.

I wish that I had gotten the guy name that helped me with getting the express pay and being patient with me during and after. I've brought other family members cars there, but this time it was my own vehicle and if and when I need any other service to my car , I will be there again I truly appreciate them for there time and service

Although I dread going to the mechanic as much as I hate going to the dentist, I really appreciate the work the guys at Midas do on my vehicle. I trust that they work with the utmost integrity and professionalism. I would recommend anyone needing work done on their vehicle, in the virginia beach area, to give them a try.

I drove over first thing in the morning with my daughter after noticing a nail in my tire before taking her to school. The team got me in right away and had the flat patched and ready to go in under 30 minutes. Super quick, professional, and friendly service. Couldn’t have asked for an easier experience—highly recommend!

Service was phenomenal..All the employees were very nice. Mr.James at the front desk was very knowledgeable and helpful I came in no appointment and no idea where to start with getting my car fixed but they were able to do everything in 1 day.Even did a follow-up phone call 10/10.

James, Lance and the team were amazing from start to finish. I went in for one issue and because of their thorough inspection, I was told about another very serious problem... my tires. While it was a costly and unexpected visit, the honesty, transparency and education provided to me by James helped make the decision to get the work done that much easier. Not to mention that Midas was the only place, of the dozen or so I called, that would get me in on a Saturday (not even the store that did the work that I was coming in for would fit me in). I've definitely found a place to go for all of my care care needs. Thanks James and team!!

Please be careful when you visit this location. The guy at the desk is not very welcoming. A guy behind me asked if they could do an inspection before noon, and the Midas guy just shrugged his shoulders. I went in for an inspection, and failed for the first time in 9 years. The place I usually go to was super busy, so I decided to try midas out. They told me I had about $1,000 of work to do to pass inspection. I had a feeling that was going to happen as they seem to be the kind of business that will find something wrong with your vehicle no matter what. There are other more reputable mechanics to take your vehicle to in my opinion. I won't be going to Midas again.

Save yourself from their scams. They have open cases with the Virginia Attorney General Consumer Protection. They are not BBB accredited. I could type it all out but it would take an hour and they aren't worth it. Save yourself. GO ELSEWHERE. The manager runs the Midas on VB blvd as well. Both locations have AG cases. You can look it for yourself up on the AG website. The Holland road location, they did not cooperate with their case at all. They'll soon have a new case open.

My experience at this shop was absolutely unacceptable. From the moment I walked in, I was met with rudeness and disrespect. The man at the front didn’t greet me, didn’t ask how he could help — he just looked at me and immediately said, “We don’t work on your type.” He offered no explanation, no clarification — nothing. I was left standing there unsure if he was referring to my car or making an assumption about me personally. As a Black American, I couldn’t ignore how targeted and dismissive his tone felt. Whether it was about my car or who I am, his behavior was completely unprofessional and offensive. I was so taken aback and hurt that I couldn’t even bring myself to ask for his name. No customer should ever be made to feel that way — ignored, disrespected, and unwelcome. Before coming in, I noticed this place had a 3.9-star rating and I was hesitant. Now I see exactly why. That kind of customer service is a major problem. If this shop wants to earn trust and business, it needs to start by training its staff on basic professionalism, respect, and how to treat people with decency — regardless of the car they drive or the color of their skin. I would never recommend this place to anyone.
