Great service and friendly people! They fixed my car after it failed the annual emissions test and then they offered to take it back through emissions for me. They made sure the car passed and there was no extra charge!! Plus, they were about $100 cheaper than what the Honda dealer quoted me. I definitely recommend them for all your car repair work.

UPDATE: New shop pulled my motor and reviewed all the repairs done by this place. They found things taped together and others glued that should have been replaced. This place is TERRIBLE! Such great reviews on here and some of you probably have tape and glue when you paid to replace that part. Original: I did not have the same experience all these other reviewers had. The dealer we bought the car from brought the car here for some major repairs. Within 9 months those repairs failed and caused more damage. We immediately took it to our repair shop to find out what was wrong with the car. It was at that point that we found out 90% of the issues were things this place was supposed to have fixed. The other 10% was damage caused by their faulty repairs. We had the car towed here directly from that repair shop here so they can fix their previous repairs under THEIR warranty and eat the difference we would pay because it caused further damage. Well, in THEIR POSSESSION the motor seized. When we asked what happened their response was “well it doesn’t matter, the motor is seized now” they then proceeded to offer some solutions. It went from $1900 in repairs they should have covered to now spending $4k-$14k on a new motor out of our pocket. We were in a shocked mind state when they offered the options and amounts. They gave the impression they were trying to help us so I too felt like they cared like some other of the reviewers... luckily I had time to get my thoughts together. They were charging ME for THEM locking my motor!!! Instead of them staying true to their work and covering their original mistakes they wrecked my car even more so *I* would have to pay to fix it!! I had to ASK them to provide a repair order of their findings and even so they don’t explain ANYTHING on that sheet just items and pricing. No “concern, cause, or correction.” I had the vehicle towed out of there this morning and provided their “repair order” to the shop it’s at now. My shop also wonders how this place is still in business and to report them to the BBB. Definitely NOT honest. On another note, not a single person but me and the tow truck driver were wearing a mask. I hope your experience is nothing like mine.

As someone who is immediately on guard and weary of auto repair places, I found Multistate Transmissions to be exceptional in the quality of work and customer service that they have provided. Dan was especially great on the phone and in person, even when I frantically called several times in my attempt to relay information about my broken transmission. Not only did they replace my transmission and transmission lines for cheaper than any other place I received quotes from, they even sourced a used transmission for cheaper than I would have paid if I were to purchase one on my own (I automatically assumed I would get ripped off as is the status quo in this industry). To my astonishment, they also completely replaced my transmission and had my car back to me in less than two days. If I could give them 10 stars, I would. I very highly recommend them for all of your car servicing needs, and will be recommending them to my family and friends. Thanks for being honest hard workers, guys!

These guys were great. They were able to find the issue with my wifes car. They were able to get it fixed and back to us within 5 days. The repair was a transmission and clutch it was not cheap but that extensive repair would of took other shops multiple weeks. They knew we had issues with another shop and worked with us as fast as they could to help.

I have decided to call the team at Multistate my car doctors! Another mechanic, who had great reviews, had my car for a month (had to bring it in multiple times for the same issue) and they never figured out the problem. Great services, and a really reasonable price!! They had my work done and finalized in 1 service day. I had the chance to meet Al, who is the owner and Dan the service manager. He and his team were A+ from the start. They truly care about the work being done to satisfactory. Both Dan and Al both called me to give me the status of my vehicle, while being worked on. Had my 2003 mitsubishi outlander transmission rebuilt here. Works great! Turn around time was about 1 and half weeks for a full rebuild, which is great for such a complex job. Customer service is hands down some of the best I've ever had. I would highly recommend this place when you need transmission work. I will happily send more work their way.

Best service around. Fair prices, and they don’t make up stuff or sell you what you don’t need. Only what you need to make sure your car is safe & reliable! Google's asking me to update my review I don't know what else I can say, I continue to go here, have been going here for the last 15 years and don't trust anybody else with my family's cars. My family's safety is too important. They have much better pricing than the dealer they don't oversell you. They give you exactly what you need to make your car safe and reliable. I don't know what else you could ask from an auto mechanic! This is the place to go!!

02/25/2026 Another couple of months have gone by and still have not heard a word from them. NEVER TAKE YOUR CAR HERE. Take it to quite literally anywhere else, they will take your car, butcher the work "being preformed" and send you on your way. Their work will fall apart within a year or two, right around when their warranty expires. Do not go here. 09/22/2025 4 months later from my last update and still haven't heard a word. Really speaks volume from this company. WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE. Literally, anywhere else will take better care of you than the people at this shop. Cress Creek Automotive, My Wife's mechanic, literally anywhere but here. 05/09/2025 Still haven't heard anything from anyone. DO NOT take your veichles here, there are plenty of shops such as Maximum automotive or PM autocare. Would take my truck there in a heartbeat over this dump. UPDATE!!!! I reached out, Al had answered the phone. Explained too him the situation, and was told that the owner would give me a call in the morning. I had called him on Friday December 13th. Today is the 26th and still no call. DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLES HERE!!!!! I had taken my truck here in summer of 2023 for a cracked bell housing and U-joints. The truck ran fine upon completion of the job, but shortly after it started too leak and shake. I had taken it back as it was covered under warranty on 3 separate occasions. One was too replace a "defective" u-joint, which I don't think was ever touched, even though I was charged for it. The other two times were for "defective" gaskets. I don't think the gaskets were "defective" at all, they were installed in-properly. Approximately 22,000 miles later, the truck had cracked the bell housing again, destroyed the transferase, and needed seals. If you need someone to work on your transmission, steer far and clear from this place. The manager Al is nice, however they have no idea what they are doing when it comes to transmissions. $3,000 wasted for absolutely nothing.

Dan is great. He is always so friendly and welcoming. Even when it’s busy he’s willing to help. I was always having problems with my car until I came here. My car was in and out of the shop every other month. Since coming here maybe twice, 3x max a year for routine maintenance. They always fix the problems right away. They even taught me some things about how to take care of my car.

From Michigan and van went dead Saturday night in Downer's Grove. Had to be towed initially to AAA service center and they couldn't work on it and suggested Multi State. Had towed there and Dan was outstanding to work with. They took a couple of days and found the root problem and repaired quickly at a very fair price. Highly recommend them as the first go to place for vehicle repairs and maintenance
