Montesi Subaru is the real deal. Every other place told us that in order to fix our 97 Impreza it would cost a fortune. “This is broken!”, “that’s broken!” And the lovely “Oh you need a new transmission!”. All I can say is I wish I found Montesi earlier. Rich looked at our Impreza and immediately thought of a game plan. He gets right down to it and doesn’t try to screw you over like dealerships. We dropped the car off and gave him time to do the work. It was extensive amounts of work but it was done in a timely manner. Our Impreza used to clunk and vibrate almost scarily so. However, once Rich finished the car drive buttery smooth! No clunks, no vibrating, everything was working well again! If you have a used Subaru, Montesi is the place! Don’t trust the dealers, they will screw you every which way if you let them. Trust me, Montesi knows their Subaru’s and they’ll take care of you. Thanks, Rich!

This place came highly recommended as a foreign car repair place. Have now brought two different Subarus and both have been fixed very well. Talking to Rich he always seems to air on the side of caution so kind of like Scotty on Star Trek always seems to beat his estimate on time and is quite honest upfront about the price. The place is a bit hidden off Mark Lane in Waterbury. Seems a bit messy kind of like he gets into a little of everything. Quite an interesting place.

Rich is an extremely good mechanic. That is straightforward no b.s. when my timing belt back broke he gave me a used one to keep me rolling for many more miles free of charge. Rich and team installed a JDM H6 Boxer engine + replaced wheel bearings on a very high mileage Subaru Outback. Couldn't find anybody nearby that does H6 service like this - though a few do H4 replacements. Very clear and straightforward with price and service and sealed the agreement with a handshake (does that still happen anywhere?). He kept me posted on the progress and had the job done reasonably fast. I consider this a major undertaking given what is involved (electronics, hydraulics, components, etc.). Drove it home in the evening and passed emissions testing the next morning. Not a new car but drives very, very well and cost way less a second-hand car. Rich and Team Montesi are the real deals on Subaru repairs - absolutely love the old school approach and trusting them to identify what's needed and perform the repair/service. 2 enthusiastic thumbs up :-). It's been a year since the engine replacement - so far - still runs well and is my daily driver. Look forward to hopefully a similar update next year :-)

Growing up I could remember my parents and my aunt taking their Subarus to Richie Montesi for service. I'm now a Subaru owner and bring mine in for repairs. Everyone there is very polite and takes the time to explain everything and will give a quote BEFORE they start the work. They have great prices and get the job done fast. After searching all over the web for a reputable Subaru repair place that was not a factory dealer, I found this place. This place has it all, an honest owner who is knowledgeable and friendly and does work in a timely manner with out ripping people off. They have been open for years had great reviews, also competent and friendly to deal with. This is definitely a no frills place, no customer waiting area and a salvage yard of many out of commission Subarus that can be picked for parts. I am cost concious but also require that things are done the right way the first time and they deliver. I will for sure bring my car back and would recommend Montesi to anyone who needs Subaru repairs.
