The only place I’ll take my car to. He is honest, and fair. Upfront about everything including prices. Very thankful he has good intentions as a car repair man. If a problem can wait to be fixed he will tell me. Start saving but it’s not a concern. Most places would have said leave here and it’ll be $1,000. I recommend everyone take their cars there.

I moved to Austin about 8 months ago and was looking for a mechanic relying solely on online reviews and word to mouth. Following the great advice to bring my cars to John was the best decision. If you need a no BS, honest and very experienced mechanic who fixes your cars and gives you options all with a reasonable price, you have found the right guy. I guess I read straight shooter here somewhere, that's absolutely right! On top of it, I enjoyed chatting with him every time I was there. What a great guy & place!

John is a straight shooter who does great work for a really fair price. He will fix what needs fixing and is proactive. If he sees a problem, he calls to let you know and will quote you for the work. Motorman is our neighborhood go-to repair shop, especially for folks who want to keep their cars running for a long time.

John, the owner of Motorman Garage was extremely friendly and he went above and beyond to get my vehicle up and running after it had not been driven in a couple of years. His estimate quote was fair and honest. He called me the afternoon he got the car and said it was ready to be picked up! Super fast service! There were no hidden fees and he didn't try to up-charge me for anything. When I picked up the vehicle, not only did he fix everything for me but he also washed my car! He is an honest mechanic and one you can trust to fix everything without trying to upsell. I highly recommend!! Thank you, John!

I called a head of time and asked them if they could do a leak down test. He said they could but couldn't look at it till next week. This was 2 weeks ago. I was ok with that. He did say it was going to be a $100 to $200 for the rethread kit for cylinder 6 depending on how easy it is to get in there. I said ok awesome. So I took the truck in the next week and only approved for that and possibly a rethread kit for cylinder 6 depending on what the leak down test said. Sat for about a week like he stated. When I got there I talked to another person and told him the same thing. He said ok well let you know when we get done taking a look at it. I get a text from my dad saying it's going to be about $400. I never approved any of the other work. I didn't want anything else done to it. I called him and said he was trying to help and either the leak down test wasnt needed or they didnt want to. Cant remeber exactly. I don't care who you are trying to help or not. If your going to do any extra work on the customers car. You might want to get there approval before doing that extra work. Great way how to set yourself up for a law suit. There's only 2 things that I wanted done. I did not approve to have the missfires fixed. Did not approve to have the exhaust fixed at all. Did I know about them yes. I wasn't going to fix any of that untill I knew what was going on on cylinder 6. Never coming back here again. I've never had a shop that did extra without my approval. If they would have called before they did all this extra work. I wouldn't have had to make this. I'm grateful people want to help. But this not how you help. By adding on extra stuff and thinking that the customer is just going to approve of all the extra stuff and pay for it. hell no. Maybe they just wanted to have it looked at and them decide what to do after they get a call back about there vehicle. But that didn't happen.

Oh man!!! If you want HONEST work and down to earth conversation - this is the place to go. I took my truck in the with what I thought was the problem and I was wrong. $100 later my truck was fixed and I saved time and money. This place tells you like it is and doesn’t kill you in shop hours. LOVE this place!!

This shop did a fantastic job for me on my Pathfinder. My ac went out and they were able to diagnose the problem quickly and install a new compressor and condenser within a few hours and was good as new. Prices were reasonable and the main thing is these guys are honest and friendly. 50 years of driving and this is the first time I have had a mechanic follow up and make sure everything is running the way it should. I highly recommend Motorman Garage.

The head mechanic is refreshingly honest and shockingly candid. He will tell you what he thinks is necessary and will do the work for you at a fair price. I brought a van to him and he looked at it for over a week, thought it might need a $2000 repair, but found out the real cause and didn't just throw on a new part to up his fees. Ended up paying less than a quarter the estimate. Never met a mechanic who turned down money before. We'll definitely be back.
