Have you ever wished you knew a guy? An honest mechanic, a guy you could trust, a guy who knew his stuff frontwards and backwards, who could fix your car right, for a reasonable price, do what needed to be done, make honest recommendations, and tell you what is likely to happen in the future to your car, and what you could do to head it off? A guy with encyclopedic knowledge of cars, the skill to fix them, and the honestly to do it the right way? That’s Jamie at Ocean. I first called him on the recommendation of the O’Reilly’s guys. I needed honest advice on whether to do an expensive repair or junk my CX-9 with a blown head gasket. He gave me honest advice. Then, when I asked, he gave me advice on what cars are reliable to replace it with. During the convo, I told him about all the repairs we’ve done on our VW Tiguan. He said: “When they replaced your timing chain, did they replace the water pump?” I said no. He said “That’ll be next to go. I always replace it when I replace that timing chain.” A month later, guess what? The water pump broke and nearly overheated the Tiguan. Then, a few months later, something else went wrong with the Tiguan. The dealership replaced my oil and said they couldn’t see anything else wrong with it. (Thanks) I took it to Jamie. He spotted the problem right away and repaired it for a fair price, and talked to me about what I’ll likely need to do in the future. You can take your car elsewhere. If you do, good luck.

MAKE OCEAN AUTO IMPORTS YOUR FIRST CHOICE IN CAR CARE! I can't say enough good things about Jamie and Lauren. We were trying to get a new battery installed after our battery in our 2020 Nissan Rogue died. After trying 3 other places, the folks at Firestone said try Ocean Auto Imports just down the road. We were so thankful we did. The guy at Auto Zone sold us the wrong battery. When Jamie went to install it, he noticed it wasn't the right battery for our make and model, so Lauren ordered us the right one, and Jamie installed it and got us back on the road. If you live in the Charleston Folly Island James Island area go see Jamie and Lauren.

Jamie & Lauren go far above and beyond. I easily could have destroyed my car without their help, because I’m on a tight budget and they’re the only ones who are willing to meet me where I’m at. They’ve moved mountains to make same-day repairs so I could get to work—from running around town to source parts from multiple places, to working past shop hours. Last week, right in the nick of time, Jamie discovered a mistake my last shop made that could have cost me my engine. My car’s running great again thanks to his discerning eye. Once, I was distressed because I didn’t have a charge on my phone and forgot my charger. Later that day, Lauren handed me a nice new car iPhone charger and said “Thanks for being a teacher.” 🥹. We’ve been trusting Jamie with our vehicles ever since we met him something like 13 years ago! I often compare trusting a shop like this to trying to understand a foreign language. Since you don’t know the language or how to fix the car yourself, you find yourself at the mercy of the owner to be HONEST. In my 44 years of life, never EVER have I found someone as open, honest, genuinely caring, and AFFORDABLE as Jamie. His wife, Lauren, who runs the front office and all of the “behind-the-scenes” action is AMAZING as well! You truly cannot find a better place for all of your auto needs. I feel so lucky that our paths crossed all of those years ago. They are truly great people with a responsible, organized, and considerate work ethic. To say that they go above and beyond is an understatement. I honestly don’t know how they manage all of it (as you will see plenty of cars in their lot at all times- obviously I’m not the only one who trusts them), but they do! Thank you for all of your years of support and service on our nearly 20 year old car! You two are THE best!

Guy who works here is completely unprofessional and extremely rude. Talks to customers like the are slow and stupid. Response to the owner When I came into your shop, I immediately asked the gentleman at the front desk if he was busy, and if he wasn’t, could he help me with a jump he then proceeded to say he was too busy and that he didn’t have time which I completely understand. I left and went outside to my vehicle when 3 to 4 minutes later he came outside with a battery pack and came to my vehicle to my surprise so I thanked him. While he was putting the battery pack onto my vehicle, I was trying to make small talk with him asking him how his day was going and has it been a good day so far too, which he completely ignored me and told me to go and try to start the truck. After unsuccessfully starting the truck, I got out of it and he as if he was throwing salt into a wound said there is something way more wrong with your truck. I then proceeded to tell him what I thought was wrong with it based on the previous repairs that had just been completed. After telling him he started snickering as if I had said something funny and said the same exact thing. Something is way more wrong with your truck. Out of frustration, I then said who would you like to buy my truck which he replied laughing and saying yes, for 500 bucks. I then said it’s worth more than that. Thank you. I hope you have a good day. Which he responded with have a good day and walked off. Problem #1: when a potential customer comes and ask you for help even if you are busy you should help as a courtesy which he did only after telling me he was too busy. Problem #2: when someone is trying to make small, talk with you, you should respond instead of ignoring them and giving them commands. It’s unprofessional an extremely rude. Problem #3: he never even tried to gain me as a customer. All he did was say that there was something way more wrong with the truck. If you are a mechanic shop, a mechanic would proceed to try to gain a customer and have another vehicle to work on to make money for the shop. He never offered a single service that you guys provide. Not a diagnostics test and didn’t even offered to have the shop do the repair repairs that may be needed on the truck. Problem #4: when people are having issues, especially with their vehicle, you shouldn’t laugh or make fun of the situation. They could already be having a bad day and all you’re doing is making it worse. For those reasons and those reasons alone, I left a one star review. I am glad I never had the chance to become a customer. Now to the owner personally; you should do better with criticism, whether good or bad. I wasn’t trying to hurt your business. I could care less for your business. My review was based only on my experience. For you to try to personally attack me and judge me and try to get a determination of my character based on the other three reviews that I have left is extremely once again unprofessional. I appreciate your technician for coming out and helping me what I don’t appreciate is the attitude and demeanor in which he did it. If you think the standards that I have are too much to uphold than you have failed as a company. Oh and by the way the repair was a coil wire being loose from previous repair and popping off. Turned around and sold the truck for $2800 2 weeks later with no mechanical issues. As for appreciation, I show my appreciation every day by VOLUNTEERING my time by spending time with elderly people in nursing and retirement homes after work.

They were both incredible at keeping me in the loop as new developments came up with my vehicle.
