These guys are absolutely awesome. I was in a dire situation with the 4wd being out in my truck and they got me in immediately and had me out of the within 3 hours. I have found my forever mechanics; my only regret is that I didn't tip them more because they work wonders! My first encounter was getting a second opinion on some rough estimates given by my previous auto shop; the latter's pricing was a bit too rich for me, and they didn't care to listen when I said Jiffy Lube should have replaced the engine coolant. I called Off-Road Essentials and checked in my vehicle. As it turns out, the third party was trying to sell me repairs I didn't need; Kai advised me to replace the front struts instead of those and the shocks, saving me about $1200 in one repair alone! His team also caught some items that were missed by the prior outfit; I'm very grateful for their thoroughness, honesty, kindness, and professionalism. My vehicle turns like a dream after their work, and I couldn't be happier!

Jeff is a great mechanic. I’ve been taking my cars to him for several years. Anything from regular maintenance to lifts, alignment and new tires. He and his team are knowledgeable and friendly. Jeff will let you know exactly what’s is going on and he is reasonable and up front about prices and options. Will not take my cars anywhere else!

Jeff, Kai, Zak and Justin were great! Kai was kind enough to fit me into the shop 5k miles into my 12k journey for tire rotation and replacement of a torn ball joint. Zak did a great job on the install and 4 wheel alignment, Justin rotated the tires and Jeff was kind enough to allow my GSP to roam the waiting room and share wheeling stories with me. So appreciate they fit me in!!!

I had a frustrating experience with Off Road Essentials. Initially quoted $500 for truck work, I was shocked to find the price had doubled to $1000 upon arrival. Despite receiving a $600 quote from another shop, I chose Off Road Essentials because they are a smaller business and seemed like a good group of guys. They claimed the initial quote didn’t include swapping out the tires, even though we discussed that in person while I was purchasing bigger tires from them. Additionally, they forgot to call me about a delay in my truck’s anticipated pickup date, forcing me to rent a car for another day after I had already dropped off the first rental car. Hopefully it was just a one off experience, but man am I disappointed. I was really looking forward to working with them

I had lost a long time, "trusted" mechanic to Arizona and was in search of another diamond in the rough.... Working in the auto industry for over a decade, I contacted a good friend that had worked on MOPAR products the majority of his career and he connected me with Jeff at Off Road Essentials. Russ continued to inform me that not only was he an excellent and trustworthy mechanic but also the, "Go To" guy when other mechanics couldn't figure something out. I tested the water slowly with an oil change and a couple basic repairs and knew I'd found another unicorn in the business. He recently hard-wired a 3 channel dash cam in my Challenger, "Shadi" and not only were the wires hidden... It was placed perfect and works flawlessly. After inquiring about different skills he actually has he'll be doing everything from LED lighting on the exterior/interior, welding on muffler tips and even an air bag system. If you're looking for the best shop in town.... Look no further😎

From general maintenance to prepping my rig for off-road excursions, they've been excited to be along for the adventure with me. I can't say enough great things about the way the business is run, and they truly treat every customer as though they're family. If you need anything from general work on your Subaru or a lift kit for your Montero, Off-Road Essentials gets the job done, every time. As an update to my review, Jeff and the guys have since taken on the work on my 2015 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, and have knocked it out of the park every single time they get under it to wrench. Maintenance, upgrades, they do it all, and always leave me feeling as though I've made a wise decision in trusting them with my vehicle. You 100% cannot go wrong with these guys. They'll treat you right every time.

They are a small shop, so speed is not their forte. I had to do some waiting. But for me, a shop that stands behind their work and wants to make sure the job is done to specs is most important. I do not recommend this shop for Toyota work -- a simple lift kit install and alignment turned into a semi-nightmare. My truck's tracking and handling was shot, and despite a return visit to re-align, it did little to address the drivability (significant bump-steer, tracking issues, off-center steering wheel). They recommended aftermarket UCAs, but I figured I'd get another opinion before committing -- and I'm glad I did! Another shop was able to properly align it to account for the minor lift, correcting the drivability issues and improving my MPG (my toe and camber were WAY off). In addition to the above, I experienced a few issues during the initial install. The most frustrating part is that they threw away my OEM parts, effectively breaking my back-to-stock path (I didn't realize the parts were missing until a few weeks later and by then it was too late). The preload collar in particular cannot be sourced directly and requires purchasing the whole assembly (several thousands dollars new from Toyota), and they didn't seem to think that it was an issue -- really? Second, they damaged my ABS sensor wire, which thankfully they were able to re-solder, but they made no effort to replace it despite me asking. The owners, Jeff and Kai, are nice fellows, but given my experience I do not recommend for Toyota work.
