Sam did an OUTSTANDING job on my front and rear differentials!!! He installed 3:73 gears in the rear end with overhaul bearing kit, and also installed axle seals, bearings, and rear posi limited slip, and yoke. For the front, he installed a new overhaul bearing kit, front axle seals, yoke and new axle U-joints. All done in a neat, timely and affordable manor. I would highly recommend his services. Definitely the GO-TO GUY!!!

Was going to take my place to a shop in Montclair. Had driven by Pomona Gear several times but did not know the type of work they did. I stoped by on 05/01/21 and boy I’m glad I did. Sam is honest, his prices are reasonable and lower than other shops I have visited in the past. I decided to limp my Jeep over to him the same day (another motorist hit my front left tire damaging track bar/ball joint/alignment etc. ) as I live 5-10 minutes from his shop. By the next day he had the parts installed and my Jeep was ready to go. Don’t let the area or the fact his place is in Pomona deter you. It’s the quiet part of Pomona and his shop is fenced up like a Prison. I picked up my Jeep today 05/03 and had her washed for future adventures! See pics of my Jeep and parts he replaced/fixed. Thank You Sam! And ill be back to do the stuff to my Jeep we spoke about.

I recently bought the truck and I was referred to Sam from a fellow Gen 1 Raptor owner. My rear diff/axle was making a howling sound that would get louder the faster I’d go. We knew it was bearings and hoped the gears($$$$$) were ok. He knew right away and explained in detail. He is extremely knowledgeable and very friendly. He fixed it much faster than I expected and explained the issues and showed/gave me the worn bearings and told me I was lucky the gears were ok because they are very expensive. 2 day turn around. No upselling on anything. He uses top of the line products. I will refer him to anyone. Highly recommended. Thank you good sir 👍🏻

Honestly, honesty, quality and integrity are my top 3 characteristics for Sam, owner/operator of Pomona Gear. I've driven by his shop as long as he's owned it, always thinking it was a 4×4 shop. When my GMC 2500HD 2x4 needed front end suspension work I started my search for a good mechanic and through online reviews. After reading multiple 5 star, long winded compliments, I was compelled to stop in to check him out. I'm so glad I did. When he got to the point in our conversation where he stated he will treat my truck as if it were his truck...I believed him. He was true to his word on all counts; timeline, communication, price, follow-up. He got me to a good alignment shop and rechecked his work. Sam was amazing to work with, he was able to diagnose the issues I was having on my 2013 F150 Raptor. I came in with a broken CV axle and he was able to find out why it broke and repaired the vacuum leaks causing other issues with my auto locking 4wd hubs. Fast, good communication and even showed me all the parts he replaced to get me back to 100%. Would highly recommend to anyone!

Such an amazing job on my YJ conversion! Sam does such great work and is super knowledgeable with all things Jeep! I first met Sam about 5 years ago, needed some drive shaft work done on my JKU. Fast forward to a couple of months ago and after trying to find a shop to do an axle swap, I was never comfortable with most of the shops Iout there. All these shops were worried about how it would look , mall crawlers. I remember seeing all the bad ass off road projects at Pomona Gear and paid a visit. All I can tell you is Sam knows his stuff. Completely satisfied with all the work I had him do, upgrade to Dynatrac 60’s, PSC steering, new hydraulic bump stops and new 8lug wheels. If anyone is interested in building something that can wheel, Pomona Gear is worth a visit

I cannot take my vehicles to any shop and trust that the job will be done correctly, honestly and without gimmicks. When I called and inquired at Pomana Gear, I spoke with SAM and we talked about what I needed. He took the time to hear and expressed genuine concern. Let me say sorry Sam for being late on the review! To everyone else if you’ve got something going on with your rig or want to upgrade it bring it to Sam! I had issues as you can see in the pictures posted with my ring and pinion blowing up. I opted to upgrade both differentials from a 4:30 gear to a 4:88 Sam was also able to determine that the reason my front diff blew up was because the previous owner changed the rear to a 4:56 and left the 4:30 gears in the front. This was unknown to me and Sam at the time but once he removed all the old parts he notified me all along the way the things he found wrong. Gave me the price for repairs upfront and was true to his word once all was said and done! Ever since then about 3 weeks ago I’ve gone through the break in process with the new gears and people please follow the instructions and Sam’s advise on the break in process! I brought it back to him after 500 miles to do the gear oil change and so he could inspect the gears after the break in period and everything was perfect. Sam brought life back into my truck in the way it drives, how smooth it coasts down the road and how much easier it gets up and goes! I’ll be doing more business with him and bring my truck back for more upgrades Sam recommend! Sam I really appreciate all the work you put into my truck your a great mechanic and an even better man! Your a great guy to talk too and full of knowledge and experience and honest with your work! Thank you!

Wow! Sam you are truly a craftsman at your trade. I have had my truck from 3 miles on it new. I immediately took it to get it 11" lift 37.5 tires the whole bit. When i got it done 20 years ago the lift shop told me I didn't need to regear it. MAN WERE THEY WRONG!! After talking to Sam I knew he was the one for the job. Im am tradesman and I know when someone truly has passion for what they do. Sam sir thank you for your passion and the excellent work you do. Also, he had my front and rear done in 3 days. No BS just hard work from Sam.

2000 Silverado 5.3 rear end rebuild. Going from a 220,000 mile wore out, stock geared, open diff on 33’s to a TrueTrac locker re-geared with 410’s. Just as all the other reviews have stated Sam is a honest guy that gets his customers what they want/need quickly and effectively. Once my truck was apart I was faced with the choice to go back stock or go upgraded. Sam didn’t push either direction. He said it’s your choice the labor is the same so it’s up to you. Most places would try and talk you into more money and more work. But not here and I appreciate that honesty. Of course I went upgraded and I’m glad I did. My old girl is back in the road and actually running better than she ever has due to the locker and proper gearing for her oversized shoes. Completed the job in 2 working days, and that includes my decision making time and locker delivery time. Super quick work.Thanks Sam I will be doing business with you again.
