Kept my work truck for 37 days. Most of that time it was sitting, torn down, with nothing happening. Original estimate was 2-3 weeks. Once it was taken apart, my repair migrated to the bottom of the priority list and it stayed there through a shop vacation, which began just shy of four weeks in, and other delays. An offer was made and then revoked to compensate me for a portion of the cost of a rental, because things were taking so long. Kimberly's word was repeatedly not honored. It was always "We are doing everything we can." The repair was done correctly, but with the long rental, I saved very little over what the dealership quoted for the somewhat pricey job, and SF Toyota's estimate had a timeline of one week. This was a stressful and completely unnecessarily long process. I have no idea why they accepted the work in the first place if there wasn't the bandwidth to complete it in a reasonable timeframe.

Everyone at SF Auto Works was so friendly and helpful. I brought my 2010 Subaru Forester in because it was spewing oil, smoking, and had a terrifying electrical fire-like smell. They were able to get me in quickly, took care of the problem same-day, charged a very reasonable fee, and explained what the problem was. Would definitely go back and I highly recommend them!

Kevin and his team are fantastic. EVERYONE with a Subaru or any vehicle that needs servicing needs to go to SF Auto Works. They do what no one does anymore.. 100% service for the customer. I live in Tahoe and was in SF for business. My Subaru temperature gauge registered hot and i didn’t want to drive 4 hours until checked. I came in without an appointment; all the stalls were full with cars being worked on, BUT they said they would look at it. They figured out the issue; put it up on the racks to check engine thoroughly to find any leaks and then said… NO CHARGE. No one does that anymore. Should get 10+ stars, but more importantly places and people like this need to stay in our neighborhoods.

My Prius engine light came on and I came by to ask for help. Buddy was able to help me out pretty quickly and explained to me everything very thoroughly. I felt confident that they knew what they were doing. Drop off was smooth and I had my car back very quickly. Everyone here was very efficient and knowledgeable. The service fee was also very fair. It is so convenient that it is on Valencia St. Highly recommend especially if you have a Japanese car.

The folks at San Francisco Auto Works are absolutely INCREDIBLE. They are honest, transparent, and do high quality work. I’ve been taking my 2016 Subaru Impreza there for a variety of repairs over the years, and won’t go anywhere else. Why am I so positive about these people? Let me give you one story as an example. A little while ago, nearly every warning light lit up on my dashboard (see photo). I took the car in and they diagnosed the issue: transmission valve body failure. They quoted me (a very fair) repair price. But before they ordered parts and scheduled the repair, they told me to call Subaru. Apparently this is a common problem on my car, and even though my car had 106k miles on it, I might qualify for an extended warranty program. Turns out, I did qualify for the warranty and Subaru did the repair for free. SF Auto Works helped me find a free repair; what an honest shop! I’ll keep taking my car here. These folks are incredible, and I feel really lucky to know that they are around. P.S. my dad was a professional mechanic and I grew up working on cars. This is a no-BS shop. Just good people doing great work.

I have a service contract from the dealership where I bought my Subaru but sometimes I just can't manage a drive to the East Bay from SF. I found this place over a year ago and am SO impressed with how friendly, kind and upbeat they are. Buddy and Kiko are who I worked with and again 10 zillion stars for the best service ever.
