I went in for a 30,000 mile service on my Hyundai Santa Fe. All I needed was a good look over since I have K&N filters and an oil change package. They didn't grumble about it or give me a hard time and the price they charged was extremely reasonable, not to mention they were super friendly. I'll DEFINITELY be back! And once my warranty runs out, these guys will be my new go-to. Highly recommend!

Honest Business Took my SUV in for repair and was advised the cost could be over $700. However, the owner remembered they had replaced that part before and it was still under warranty. The cost for the repair was zero. I don’t think I could have taken my SUV to a more honest and reputable servicer. Prior to this experience, and because they have done such good work in the past, I have already mentioned Sand Lake Automotive to others.

Car was having issues with a rough idle and then stalled (while driving). Had AAA tow to their recommended shop and it sat there for 2+ weeks. They couldn’t figure out the issue so I did some searching and found Sand Lake Automotive. They helped me get it towed over there and they were able to diagnose it and fix it the same day! Communication was excellent, the price was fair and the car is running better than ever. I don’t ever write reviews, but I wanted to make sure I recognize this business for their outstanding work. Just got my 2013 Tacoma back from servicing. As always Tim and the crew were super friendly, approachable and easy to work with. The work was done right and on time. Pricing was way more reasonable than the dealership ever was. I also like the reminders on servicing that otherwise might have been overlooked. It's great to have mechanics I can trust again and not get ripped off on unnecessary work and charges as I have had happen in the past.

I have taken my car in at the last moment twice for tire issues and you have made time to fix it when I could not find anywhere else. I am seeking a regular maintenance business and your company comes up when I Google bonded, insured, warranty, etc . I want to have a reliable long-term service with one company. With some of the complaints don't you record the conversations when your needing to change a service and price so noone is surprised. If you sign for 90$ it shouldn't be 130 when you pick up your car unless you were called had a recorded agreement. There's no way I want to have that sort of thing happen to me. Maintenance is costly but necessary. And aren't all prices set for standard services? I am doing due diligence to find a good company. I hope you guys are it. Thanks.

I called this shop to ask if they perform the annual Turo vehicle inspection checklist. Denise quoted me $250 just to fill out the form. I pointed out that the checklist is very basic — things like whether the car has windshield wipers or working lights — something even someone with little to no car knowledge could easily verify. She said she had the list and knew exactly what was required, but still insisted on the $250 fee because they are a “certified” shop. For comparison, I called another shop and they completed the same checklist for free — it took them less than 10 minutes. I originally picked this place based on good reviews, but $250 for something my 16-year-old niece could check is just shocking. You can Google the Turo host inspection checklist yourself and see how simple it really is. Maybe their mechanics are skilled, but charging $250 for a basic checklist just because they’re “certified” feels excessive. If they’re willing to mark up something this simple, it makes me wonder how much extra you’d be charged for an oil change or engine repair. I strongly recommend comparing prices and getting quotes from other shops before making a decision.

I rarely ever write reviews, but Sand Lake Auto earned this one. I took my F150 in with a 4 wheel drive issue. The communication through the entire process was great. My truck was fixed in a timely manner, and the price was very reasonable. This shop will now be my go-to for future automotive issues.

I wish they had more than 5 stars…I’d give these guys a 10+. I had my car at a “ supposed transmission shop” for 4 months waiting to get it fixed. I finally had it towed to Sand Lake & a week later they had it fixed. The customer service was OUTSTANDING!!! These are my new “go to guys”.WHAT A HUGE BLESSING THEY WERE !!! Other Businesses could learn A LOT from them. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND them !!!

I went here to get my car worked on, and the old lady at the front desk was no help. She said that I needed an appointment and that I should call around 9 to see if they have anything available, which I was fine with, but she didn't even care to take down my information or schedule me an appointment, plus the shop was empty with no other customers there, and I got there right when they opened at 7 am....

Finding a good mechanic is like finding a good doctor or lawyer. Once you do, you stick with them. This is a family owned and operated local business that provides honest, quality automotive services for reasonable prices. All of my interactions with the staff, including the owner have been positive. My vehicles have been repaired well, and in a timely manner. They are also great at communication which is a rare occurrence for a lot of shops and believe me, I’ve dealt with many in my 20+ years of living in Anchorage. If you are in need of a trustworthy, reliable and efficient auto repair shop, this is the one.

They are not cheap and it may take a while to get in but they have been very straight with me over the years and they know what they are doing. Brought my Chevy HHR to be serviced and now onto my Chevy Sonic. I’ve even brought my dad in for his truck to be serviced. Very professional, knowledgeable and explains everything in detail. I’ve always appreciated that just the smallest thing of calling in and asking prices is always dealt with respect and never an attitude. You want good service, and real work done without filling cheated in pricing. Sand Lake Auto is where you should always go!
