It can be a little scary trying a new mechanic for your vehicle, but I had a great experience. Everyone there was courteous and friendly. I was able to get same day service and the fee was very reasonable. Thank you!

Came here about a month ago when my wheel bearing broke on the way to Colorado from Dallas. Needless to say I was in a very tough position and triple A recommended shortys for a reason. They had fixed the part in a fraction of what I thought it would take for an extremely fair price. I forget her name, but the receptionist was extremely friendly despite my lack of knowledge about cars in generaland helped me out. The waiting area was comfortable and was overall a very pleasant experience

Had my car aligned this morning, folks there were quick to get started, and finished with no problems whatsoever, even with the lightest inconvenience, I received a small discount. Couldn’t be any more happier with the staff, outstanding service with a smile accompanied with the great work they do, they’ll most definitely be my go-to again in the future.

!Beware Sports Car Owners! I have always heard good things about Shorty's, but I was very disappointed with my experience. My father took my ’06 WRX 5MT in for an evaluation on a suspension issue that I was having. It was just there for evaluation. Work was done without my knowledge or approval, which got me a $114 bill. The work done didn’t even fix the issue I was having. Disappointed, I paid the bill and left. It doesn’t stop there. My car was taken to Shorty’s with the clutch in good working condition, yet while driving it home the clutch was slipping so badly I could barely get the car moving. Between dropping my car off at Shorty’s, and picking it up a day later, the clutch was burned down to nothing. I called the owner to discuss what may have happened and he offered no explanation and zero assistance. So I went from needing an evaluation on a specific issue, to paying $114 for work that didn’t fix my issue nor did I approve, to now needing a clutch replacement that will set me back at least $1,000. I wish my experience was different, but I am very disappointed in the service provided. Never again will I patronize Shorty Bear’s shop. Response to owner - I made an appointment by phone days earlier and instructed that no work be done without approval. Upon questioning my dad, he told me that he told you to listen to whatever I instructed to be done on the phone days earlier when making the appointment. Never did he instruct you to perform a four wheel alignment. When I called before I picked up the car, one of the employees on the phone told me that they ASSUMED I wanted an alignment done. Trying to blame it on my dad is very professional though. On our phone call at the end of the day, I asked if you could assist me in any possible way. Silence was your answer. Now you're asking how to help the situation? I wish you truly meant that, but your sincerity is hard to believe when it comes only after I posted my experience. I appreciate the reply (though completely false and irrelevant to the overall message), but this post was not to argue. Instead it was to notify others of my experience.

My clutch had gone out in my Civic and I was stuck downtown. I called Shorty's and they set up a tow truck for me and got my car in the next day for a complete replacement. Service was great. They were knowledgeable and took care of everything I needed. Thanks for the help!!

I would give them 100 starss if possible! They are professionals. Best at their art. My RV has had alignment problems for three months. Took it to a place near home solved nothing. Took it to Shorty's Bears ALL problems resolved and drives better than new. I live in Michigan but I would drive to Texss to have them service my RV. Amarillo you are blessed to have a business like this in your home town!!!!!

I was always skeptical about bringing my car to a mechanic shop because of what everyone says about them that they only rip you off and charge a ton of money. This wasn't the case with shortys bear safety service, they have very reasonable prices often below the local or national fair price average prices. They did an ecexcelle job on my car and got back up and running, and driving like new again! This car is very complicated to work on but they did it and exceeded my expectations! They kept me updated all the time as to what the car needed and everything that was going on with it. They even stayed over the weekend to fix it(car had lots of problems). Great jobs guys! Highly recommend! 😁💪👍👊

I have a diesel pusher (40ft) and the bracket which supports the air bag height adjustment system broke off going down hway 40. They said they weren't sure they could get to it but they would take a look. They were my last resort, I was turned down by 4 other shops. Well, they took a look. The owner decided to see what they could do, 6 hours later they had fabricated a new steel bracket to support the new adjustment arm. There charge was very reasonable for the level of effort, time spent and the fact they fit me in. The charge was far less that my experience from other repair facilities. I watch the work and was impressed with the concern Danny demonstrated in making certain the fixed worked and the ride height was correct. 6:15 pm when the work was done and he said why dont we just park in the back, its 50 amps and safe. It was the final touch to make me determined to write this review. Its not something I normally do. Thanks again

I took my truck to Shorty's for a second opinion because my truck was leaking oil. Danny, the mechanic, meticulously cleaned the skid plate! I will definitely be coming back to this great shop! Danny and Ron are very professional and don't mind answering your questions! It is so difficult to find service like this these days!! You guys are awesome!! Manage

We moved to Amarillo last year and I've taken all 3 of our vehicles here for their annual state inspection. I always receive great service. They have affordable rates and have even given me great recommendations to other companies for reliable service (like my window tint) to ensure continued care of our vehicles. Super fast and friendly staff, even with our kids in tow, we all leave with smiles (and lollipops.)

I am so thankful to have found Shorty’s Bear. Every year I drive my RV from Florida to Colorado. Prior to my trip this year I had a local Florida Ford Dealership do a front-end alignment on my RV. Around Wichita Falls, TX I noticed extreme tire wear on my front tires. With the cords showing on both front tires I managed to make it to Amarillo. Spending the night in a service center parking lot, they directed me to Shorty’s the next morning. I got to Shorty’s before they opened along with another customer that had an appointment. We both walk into Shorty’s hoping to get an early start, without hesitation they got us both right in and started work. After showing me how the Ford Dealer had botched the alignment causing my tire wear they proceeded to do a correct alignment. After the alignment they directed me to a tire shop that could get me right in. So by 12:30 that day I had an alignment and two new tires and was on my way to Colorado. I am so impressed with Shorty’s I plan to have my RV align once a year each time I drive through Amarillo on my way to Colorado. Thank you so much for going above and beyond to get a motorist back on the road. You will see me again.

Honest, reliable, fair priced and great service. Need an accurate quote with great service? Go to Shorty Bear. If they are booked and you can't get in immediately just wait.. it is worth the wait. Save yourself the disappointment of going else where and getting inaccurate quotes and unnecessary repairs (it took me leaving and cheating on Shorty Bear to learn my lesson) Not only did my problem get fixed upon my return, but the issues left to the shop I previously used, were corrected with not extra charge. They just care enough to make things right.

Danny and Ron take such good care of the cars and us. When my car left me stranded, my first call was to Ron at Shorty Bears and he made sure I was able to get safely home and they fixed my car right up the next day. I know that whenever my car or truck go into the shop it will come back fixed but only the things actually broken will be fixed. If something isn't broken they let me know and tell me to bring it back when something does break. As a single lady I dealt with plenty of shady places before being referred to this fabulous place by some mechanic friends. Anything dealing with cars gets run by Danny and Ron. They take care of my mother and me and are always available for great automotive care and information. They won't

I had issues with my truck and was stranded. Danny came to where I was and was very helpful. He was able to get it going long enough to get it to his shop. The repair was very timely and affordable. I will always reccomend Shorty's to any one who needs service. On a side note he also works on large vehicles and motor homes. It's great to know we have someone like them in our community to be able to call. He gets 5-stars from me.

We were going to need to leave our RV in Amarillo for a couple of week to get some Winnebago Service. We asked Sisemore who would be able to do an oil change the morning that we were scheduled to turn our RV in (we were on a very tight schedule due to an Insurance claim and meeting the adjuster). Sure enough, we called Shorty's and they were able to get us in right at opening and got our RV in and out in an hour. Everyone was very friendly, very professional, giving us a smile and great service. Thanks for the quick service. We'll definitely be back and recommend that if you need a service that Shorty's provides, go and visit them. Well worth the trip.

Shorty's guys were great once again. They put on a new master cylinder and power brake booster which fixed up my brake problems on my 1997 Chevy Silverado They also tackled my broken driver's seat. There was no easy fix but they took it apart and welded the broken frame rails. Then they put a temporary fix with nuts and bolts on the seat frame itself. They apologized for only being able to fix it like this and suggested I needed to take it to an upholstery shop for a better fix. When I drove my truck home I not only noticed the brakes now worked great but that the seat no longer leaned all the way back almost throwing me into the back seat. It felt nice and strong and almost like new! I know it's not really back to new but it feels great and I'm very happy with their service. Ron told me Danny was taking the seat off and would give it a try but not to expect too much. Well for my money (a Very reasonable charge) Danny did a great job and added to the life of my truck and my safety and enjoyment! Thanks very much guys!!

Took my Volkswagen Passat in because it was overheating, its a diesel and there are not many shops who will service a foreign diesel, so I was thankful that they obligated to take on the job and assured me that they were capable of getting the job done. It needed a new water pump, which is an invasive job requiring the timing chain to be removed. Once that was completed, they called me and informed me it needed a new thermostat as well, I approved both repairs and went ahead and agreed to have a new timing chain installed. Thats an expensive job, I paid a lot of money to have it repaired, therefore i had the expectation of my car running as it should upon pickup .After driving it 3-4 miles away, I noticed the vehicles timing was off and it was smoking and sputtering out smoke because of that. I immediately called them and addressed it. They made good and got the car running as it should after waiting 5 more days for them to correct it. A few weeks later, I opened up the hood to add windshield fluid, I noticed all the wiring and lines exposed because they had not re-installed my engine cover. There is a cover designed to snap on over the engine to protect all of that. I addressed that to them and their answer was.." We don't see one around here, we looked around" That obviously did not fix the problem, but as of right now, my engine cover is still not on my car, 7 weeks later. I didn't get all that aggressive about that issue because they also had my Mercedes Sprinter in the shop for a code causing the engine to go into limp mode. It sat at their shop for 10 business days and finally i received a call and they told me they fixed the issue and its no longer going into limp mode. I picked it up, entered the highway and sped up to 70 mph and instantly went into limp mode. They told me a lot of sensors needed replaced and to take it back and they would replace one more sensor that will most likely correct that, after paying $3,500.00 to them for this work, I bring it back, they informed me that no charge for the last sensor. I left it for a week and they call me up and say...... You need a new turbo and a feed line for it, thats going to cost $6,900.00. Little did they know i replaced that turbo 15 months prior and its still under warranty, anyone who works on those would clearly see that the turbo wasn't all that old. They tell me non-chalantly that it'll be another $6,900.00, like its nothing. I paid $1,200 for an after market turbo, the OEM turbo is closer to $3,00.00 or so. When I replaced that turbo it took 3 hours of my time and I'm not even a mechanic. so they want $1,000 an hour for labor? I told them to halt everything and ill just come pick it up. Because I drive a specialty vehicle, they chose to gouge and basically punish me for it all while claiming they are the guys for the job. This is absolutely insulting, Ive spent $5,850.00 with them for both vehicles, now I have a engine guard missing and a van thats still in limp mode. And why did it take 3 visits to the shop to diagnose a new turbo? They couldn't have diagnosed that the first time around when they called and told me its no longer in limp mode? Their not even trying to hide their shadyness! Their just blurting out numbers all while not fixing my van as they said they would. Talk about a hostage situation. They will never again get my business and I have already broadcasted to others just how shady their operation is. I thought that actually speaking one on one with the owner of the shop might re-assure me that I would get a solid job, apparently that was just another waste of time. Im convinced that Anyone who brings their vehicle tho this shop is in for a world of disappointment and price gouged invoices.

I took my Chevy Truck into them and had an excellent Customer Experience. They repaired everything I wanted, plus were very Professional, calling and giving me a price before doing the work, no surprise charges. Tires, Oil Change, Wheel hubs and Alignment. They are my new Chevy Truck Mechanic. I will definitely return. This Commercial Truck Driver feels good about them taking care of my Chevy Truck ❤️

My Experience with Shorty’s Bear Safety Service – Deeply Disappointed I brought my 2010 Tahoe to Shorty’s Bear Safety Service a year and a half ago for a transmission swap. Unfortunately, that decision has led to a long string of issues and thousands of dollars in unresolved problems. Shortly after the initial work was done, I noticed oil and residue covering the undercarriage. I brought the vehicle back in, requesting that they fix the leak and also repair a non-functional driver-side window. They later contacted me, stating that a gasket was broken and had been replaced, and that the window had also been repaired. When I picked up the vehicle, I took their word that the issues were resolved—I assumed a professional shop would stand by their work. However, within weeks I noticed the undercarriage was still leaking. I brought it back in again, only to be told it was now a crankshaft seal that needed replacing. My question throughout this entire ordeal is: why were these problems not identified and resolved during the initial inspection and repair? After spending over $8,000 and going months without my vehicle, I am still dealing with the same issues I initially brought the Tahoe in for. To make matters worse, the window that was supposedly fixed is once again struggling to operate. Upon further inspection, I discovered that during the original transmission swap, Shorty’s failed to reinstall the bottom transmission cap, which was the source of the leak. When questioned, they claimed they didn’t believe the cap was important—an unacceptable answer from any professional mechanic. Additionally, their repeated removal of my exhaust system led to damage, which they “repaired” by bolting a sheet of metal over the crack—a makeshift and unprofessional solution that speaks volumes about their quality of work. In summary, I would strongly advise against taking your vehicle to Shorty’s Bear Safety Service for any kind of repair. The lack of thoroughness, accountability, and basic mechanical standards has left me with the same unresolved issues I started with—only now I’m out thousands of dollars and have even more damage to contend with.
