I can't really rate them according to the work they do because they had my car for 3 weeks and did nothing to it. They didn't even call with updates. I had to keep contacting them for updates and it was one excuse after another. It was even difficult to get them to answer the phone. I had to end up going in person to check on the car. One window was left cracked open and the inside of the car was very damp and even wet. There had been lots of rain. I finally just brought the car home after 3 weeks and lots of excuses. They were highly recommended, so I wish I was able to evaluate their expertise at repairs, but I guess it was not meant to be. Maybe they had taken in more work than they were able to perform. If they had just communicated that to me things may have been different. Even an apology would go a long way to raise the star from 1 to at least 3.

A Huge Thank You to Skip’s Auto! I want to take a moment to publicly thank Skip’s Auto for their incredible service and professionalism. I’ll be honest—I absolutely despise taking my car to mechanics. In the past, I’ve had more bad experiences than good, often leaving frustrated or even worse off than when I started. Because of that, I usually try to fix things myself. But this time, I needed help, and Skip’s came highly recommended. From the moment I walked in, they treated me with respect and took my concerns seriously. They didn’t dismiss me or assume I didn’t know what I was talking about. When they couldn’t hear the noise I was describing after driving it about 30 miles, they even offered to go on a ride with me until they did—something most other shops wouldn’t have bothered with. They replaced my front axle, rear left wheel bearing, brakes, battery, and tires, and weeks later, my car is still running perfectly. As a single mom, finances are always tight, and they worked with me in a way that made me feel valued and not just like another transaction. If you have anxiety about mechanics and auto shops like I do, I highly recommend Skip’s Auto. They were kind, understanding, and always got me right in. Thank you again for changing my perspective on auto shops—you guys are awesome!

Skip’s fixed my wife’s 08 Nissan Pathfinder recently and did a great job. I understand they’re very busy and had it a couple of weeks but they went above and beyond and fixed some things for free that we didn’t even ask them to do. They didn’t charge very much for the tow compared to what others would have. We highly recommend them and will use them again.

The worst experience ever. Brian is a very rude and entitled individual. I brought my car to be serviced.I was told to bring it on a Monday. The guy who took the car apparently his worker didn’t even tell him I had brought my car till I called after not hearing from them for some days and he said he will take care of it but 4 days later he still didn’t service it.He sat on my car for 1 week 3 days. Finally picked it up and still he did not service it. Every time we have kept our car with him he has kept it for 2 weeks plus. No call or update and when u try to call he tries to get you off the phone and what is crazy is he thinks it’s okay. I hope u do better. I hope you treat people right FYI I hope the least you can do is give us the check for the ticket we got that u didn’t tell us about from parking our car on the street. Or u can keep it but know in life what goes around comes around. The way u have treated us (we have been nothing but kind, respectful and understanding )Someone else will treat u same

Took my car here for the first time yesterday to diagnose my air-fuel ratio issues. I dropped it off about 9am. When I got there, they are helping a customer. They told me they were finishing up with the customer in about 5 minutes and and they would bring my car in next. I left my keys in the cup holder and left. I called around 2pm cuz I didnt hear an update. They told me they just brought my car in the shop and were about to look at it. I called back 30 minutes before they closed because I didnt hear an update once again, but they didnt answer. So I decided to go down there and hopefully catch them before they closed at 5pm. When I got there, my car was STILL in the same spot with the keys STILL sitting in the cup holder.... smh

In the spring, Skips Auto Repair replaced the timing belt on my car. Thankfully, it was under warranty. Brian handled all of the admin stuff and got my car back on the road quickly. It’s now November and over the last couple of weeks, I noticed that I had a slow leak coming from the water pump area. I called Skips and Brian said he would squeeze me in to get it fixed quickly. My car was done the next day and Brian replaced the entire timing belt system, including the water pump. I really appreciate his willingness to fix this quickly and make sure the car is safe to drive! Thank you!

I drive one of the many work vans you see out on the roads today. As you can imagine, the company wants the least amount of downtime as possible. I called up Brian and gave him the run down of what it needed. He had parts heading his way and scheduled an appointment before I even got off the phone. I dragged this tired van in with 166k on the clock. Skip’s got me setup with tires, brakes, seals and hubs within a super reasonable time. A few recommendations from Brian and I approved…. What a DIFFERENCE! Shakes. Gone. Noise. Gone. Vibration. Gone. I actually enjoy driving job to job and when I get there I’m not all irritated from the drive there. If you’re on the fence, don’t be. You won’t regret it!

I called around to 4 places in Frederick to price out a brake job on a newly acquired used car. A couple of them wouldn't let me bring my own parts, and the others labor rate was outrageous in my opinion. The 5th call I made was to Skip's. They agreed to install my BYO parts and their labor rate was exactly what it should be for a brake job. I booked immediately and dropped the car off first thing in the morning. I explained that I just purchased this 95,000 mile Infiniti for my kids to drive, and wanted new brakes for peace of mind. I asked for them to point out any "gotchas" once it was up on the lift, and to give it a good once over. The manager asked if I wanted to do the required Maryland Safety Inspection, so we did. I got the car back the same day, new brakes installed and safety inspection performed with a clean bill of health. The manager there is super personable, has a great vibe, and I highly recommend this spot

I had a terrible experience with this shop. I dropped off my vehicle on Feb 11 and called multiple times for updates. On Feb 13, I was told a technician was working on it and that I’d hear something by the close of business. I never received a single call back. I finally spoke to someone on Feb 18 after several unsuccessful attempts the days prior and was told Brian, the assigned technician, would follow up—he never did. I finally drove to the shop on Feb 20 just to get answers. My car was sitting outside like it hadn’t been touched. Only then was I told that they don’t have experience with my vehicle and that I should take it somewhere else. This is something they could have told me a week earlier instead of wasting my time. I'm not sure if Brian is the owner, son of the owner, or son-in-law. Whatever the case, he's clearly in the wrong line of work. He's never at work to answer a call, return a call, or work at all. He definitely need to be replaced with a more reliable technician. The lack of communication and professionalism was extremely frustrating. If this shop can’t handle the work, the least they can do is communicate that upfront. I won’t be returning, and I can’t recommend them based on this experience.
