they made me replace all four tires on my AWD even though the back two were factory new. I popped my front right one and was trying to replace my front pair, but they kept on refusing to only do two.

Took my truck to Skip’s for the repair of a nail in a tire. Turned out the nail had not penetrated the tire. No leak found. No charge for the inspection and topping off of all 4 tires.

So, my brand-new run-flat tire decided to give me a surprise leak from a puncture, and I headed over to Lloyd’s Tire Service in Scotts Valley. Keith was super helpful and told me that run-flat tires can usually be fixed. I was a bit skeptical, thinking they were a lost cause, and I was ready to buy a new one. But guess what? The fix saved me a bunch of money! Thanks a million, Keith at Lloyd’s in Scotts Valley!

The new guy behind the counter was unbelievably rude to me on the phone when I called and went in. He was also rude to another woman and refused to him me his manager's name. I'm not going back as long as he's there. Never had such awful service or been treated so poorly.

Skip's Tire & Auto Repair in Scotts Valley would rather save money on horrible quality parts that they know come back over and over because of quality defects than to ensure the safety of their customers (all while upcharging for these parts), they have consistently shown they will choose the cheapest route over quality or care at every single turn. Skip's egregious under pay their mechanics, while pressuring them to work at a past much faster than is reasonably *safe* to ensure quality work, while giving them low quality cheap parts and an extreme lack in efficient management. They will try to convince you that more repairs are needed than neccesary, all while giving you the cheapest quickest possible bandaid fix for the repairs you are already paying for. Skip's Tire & Auto Repair Center in Scott's valley, as well as all the people who are in charge of it at Monro inc are -untrustworthy -shady -unethical employers -care more about your money than about your safety I've seen less and less cars out front so it seems more people are learning this. If you care about your safety, the quality of the work, the value of your money, or supporting fair wages 🚫skip🚫 Skip's Tire & Auto Repair

Great service. Very courteous and professional. I found this shop after another shop put the wrong size tire on my car and kept telling me nothing was wrong with my car. These guys figured it out very quickly and I find them to be very trustworthy. This was my second time there after the tire mishap. They did an oil change. So I would recommend them.

Has a great experience here. Brought in my own set of tires to get a mount and road force balance (not many shops do this) on a Tesla Model X Plaid. Balance is perfect, job was done on time, and the staff were all courteous and pleasant to work with. Will be back for my next set of tires.

Learned a valuable lesson today. I have pristine Mazda MX5 wheels. I took my wheel in to fix a nail and sand paper was used on the interior and exterior of my rim. They make a plastic removal tool for this. The residue is supposed to be removed by a magic eraser on a drill and or the use of liquid goo gone type product for this purpose. Spent an hour trying to polish the sand paper marks off my rim, to no avail. Subdued but still damaged. My center cap, which 4 prongs holding it in, was broken with 2 prongs knocked off. They forgot to give it to me. I asked where it was, they proceeded to go back and get it, but like I said, broken. Had to order an OE replacement. The rim is no longer pristine, and looks hashed. If you have nice rims, do not bring your car here due to a clear lack of care. Now I have a hashed rim. From now on I will just remove my own wheel weights and take them to a shop. Can't have anything nice.

We came in with a blown tire and specifically asked to replace only the two front tires, which is a completely reasonable and common request. Instead of helping us, we were flat-out refused service because they wanted to force us to buy all four tires. The situation got worse when a staff member named Mike completely lost his professionalism. He had a full-on attitude meltdown—raised voice, dismissive behavior, and zero attempt to explain things calmly or offer alternatives. It felt aggressive and unnecessary, especially given that we came in with an actual emergency situation. If you don’t want to replace two tires, fine—but there is no excuse for hostile behavior or refusing service just to upsell customers. This place clearly prioritizes sales over customer safety and basic respect. I would not recommend this shop to anyone. There are plenty of tire places that will treat you like a human being and respect your choices.

Have been to Skip’s many times but this was the worst experience here. Took me 2.5 hours to get my slow leaking tire fixed. Watched one employee just wander the work space and the front desk folks were running around trying to help in the shop. Appreciate their effort but just seemed chaotic there and didn’t improve confidence. Probably won’t come back for a while.

I recently had a synthetic oil change done at Skips. Since that service i put 1000 driving miles on my car. Yesterday I was driving into the Santa cruz Mountains and my check oil line came on and the car started to shutter I pulled off the road and my oil dip stick showed zero oil registering. I had to have the car towed to Santa Cruz at significant cost. I took it too a mechanic who could find nothing wrong ( including no leaks) other then my car was very low on oil. I added oil to the car and now there is no problem. I have to draw the conclusion that during the oil change at Skips they did not add enough oil during the oil change which ultimately caused an emergency situation. In the future I will check the oil dipstick myself right after getting the car serviced to insure enough oil was added. It only follows that I have lost confidence and trust in Skips and will not be returning for future sevices. P.S. My car has never had an oil problem before this incident nor does it burn unusual amounts of oil. Ed Kanzler

Not only is Skip's open on Saturdays, but they're also the only place in town that had the right size tire in stock when I popped one of mine during the holidays. Great service and completely transparent the whole way through. I ended up needing an alignment along with a replacement tire, and now my car is driving beautifully again.

I had my car towed to Skip's Tire &Auto Repair on a Saturday (September 27, 2025) a little after 6pm. Prior to arriving I had called because I had a flat tire and had traveled down from 3 hours up North with my young son. Mike answered my call and I let him know my situation. When I got my my car towed there a few minutes past 6pm, Mike was so helpful and Abel helped patch up my car tire, and I was out of there within 20 minutes. I am truly grateful that night that Mike and Abel was there to help even after it was closing time. Great customer service. A BIG THANK YOU TO MIKE AND ABEL.

I have my oil changes done by the Scotts Valley location. I have also been able to pull up and have some on the spot issues dealt with. Mike is very knowledgeable and accomodating, and I had my car back in a couple hours. It is obvious that he knows what he is doing and is able accomplish tasks quickly and efficiently. Skips is my go to in Scotts Valley. THANKS MIKE!

I took my daughter’s car to Skip’s after it sat for weeks with a dead battery and two flat tires. I intended to get a full set, but after inspection they said we only needed two tires. They also changed the oil and brake fluid, checked out the brakes and other items, and gave a full status report on the overall condition of the car. We will be going back to have a couple of filters changed and definitely plan to use Skip’s for future repairs. Mike was terrific and the communication was superior. Highly recommend.

Took the car in because it was pulling to the right so I thought it was an alignment problem. After inspecting they said alignment was needed but after it was done, the car was still pulling to the right. So, they inspected it again and told me I needed to replace the entire steering rack, which would cost over $2K. I didn't really believe it because my car has only 40K miles... Well, I took it to another place and they told me that the issue was the front right tires (separating). Changed the tires and the pulling is gone. So, if I had not done my homework, I would have spent over $2K and it would not solve my problem.

I felt really sorry for the guy here at Scott’s Valley Skip’s. He was all alone. Was constantly having to answer the phone and interrupt his interactions with his customers. He was so polite and patient anyway. He needs someone to take the phone calls. And, since there wasn’t anyone else there, he had no breaks at all, all day. This is very tough. He is a good worker, I only got his first name, Mike, but he is a good worker. Kudos to him.
