Careful with this place. I had a tire replaced there and when I got out with my new tire, the same tire had an issue with the tire pressure sensor. I could not afford to change that at that time, so I was monitoring it constantly. Now that I am changing it, the new person that is helping me with this said that that monitoring sensor is not the same as the others. Obviously now I can't complain with them and I'm living somewhere else also.

They understand the importance of getting a customer's vehicle for a safety concern. I called somewhat last minute about my brakes acting up and they got me in the same day to fully diagnose the issue and offer a solution. Even though they were busy, I was charged a reasonable price unlike most places. I'd say this shop is one of the few that seem to care about their work.

I've been going to Smooth Automotive for 5 years now. They're awesome!!! Brandon and Frank are very honest and will never recommend unnecessary services just to make money (like many other mechanics will). I also always feel comfortable coming here, which is important as a young woman. I don't feel condescended to, which also happens frequently. Always friendly, always affordable and efficient. This is how a mechanic shop should be run. They set an example for others!!! Highly recommend.

I just got my car back from SmoothAuto after suffering electrical problems with the driver’s seat and passenger window and mirror. I called to check when to pick it up and was told parts were ordered, one expected the next day could I leave the car overnight. I asked if they needed a deposit or anything else from me the gentleman replied “Just for you to have a good evening “ !!! Everyone I delt with was professional, courteous and helpful. Smooth Automotive Car Care and Tire Center offers the best mechanical work in the greater Boston area. It would be worth the trip to obtain their outstanding service. When my car kept dying with new batteries and several tow trips to mechanics, Smooth Automotive figured out the problem in five minutes. The ignition was broken. At a fair price, Smooth Automotive fixed the problem. This was a problem that a local Medford "repair" shop could not figure out after 3 tries and $3000 later referred me to a Toyota dealership that had a two-star rating. I have taken my vehicle to Smooth Automotive ever since. The mechanic was so honest that he informed me about a rust problem before performing any work on the car. My personal thanks go to Frank and Brandon for conducting an honest, knowledgeable car care business that is in great demand.

I brought my car in to a different place for an oil change and was told that I needed almost $1000 worth of work that I was not expecting. Having had experiences with significant misogyny and poor customer service with the first mechanic, I took my car to Smooth Automotive on River St. in Arlington for a second opinion/to get the work done. They were kind and helpful, and after doing a solid inspection of my car, informed me that my car does not need the work done that the other place told me I needed. Smooth (or any mechanic) could have easily misled me again, but they did the right/ethical thing and were honest. I truly appreciate that, and will definitely continue to bring my car to Smooth Automotive when work does need to be done.

I’m been coming to Smooth for almost 10 years. They do a great job explaining the issue and they work hard to provide you the best service at a fair price. If you want to feel good about getting your car serviced, Smooth is your shop. I highly recommend them to anyone needing service. We also use Smooth to mount our winter tires every year. For the last few weeks my 5spd Honda Fit has been having some issues with the clutch and shifting. I pulled into Smooth and asked if they could take a look at it. Brandon explained to me that I was low on manual transmission fluid for an unknown reason, filled up my fluid (and gave me what remained of the bottle) for free and showed me how to do it myself, and scheduled me for the first available opportunity for further diagnostics while also referring me to 2-3 other shops I could look at if I wanted to bring it in sooner. Kind, educational, and non-territorial. Was a great experience.

Big thanks to Jose and Brandon for making my tire replacement quick, painless, pleasant and reasonably priced. I picked Smooth in part because they are listed as a "top installer" for tirerack.com. Was able to buy the tires there and have them shipped direct to Smooth which worked out great. Also appreciated the pleasant customer waiting area where I was able to get some work done while I waited. I'll definitely give them a try for non-tire stuff based on this experience.

Took my car in for an oil change. They pointed out some relatively urgent maintenance that needed to be done, and were kind enough to fit me in later that week to replace an unevenly worn-out tire and a tie rod, as well as doing an alignment. They also highlighted that the engine air filter needed replacement, which was an easy enough job for me to do on my own. However, once I got the part a couple weeks later and went to install it, I discovered that they had left the clasps undone on the engine air filter compartment, potentially allowing contaminants into the engine air intake. Luckily I discovered it relatively soon before any major travels, but this was a serious oversight which erodes my trust in this shop’s procedures, as this mistake could have led to serious engine issues (and might yet still, if I’m unlucky). I contacted the shop about it mid last week, and they said the owner would reach out to me, but I have yet to hear anything back.

These guys are awesome! I needed to replace my AC compressor, but didn't have the money to pay them to do the whole job. They we're more than squeeze me in their busy schedule to evacuate and refill my refrigerant so I could replace the AC compressor myself, and charged me a very reasonable price for it. Thanks guys!

I have used Smooth Automotive several times and they have always been friendly and efficient. However, the last visit left me disappointed. I understand that for most people cars are just appliances, but the job appeared rushed and careless. They did not clean the tire after the job, they did not clean up the old backing and glue from the old wheel weights and they did not place the new wheel weights discreetly (I know placement flexibility is limited). Now I am going to have to go to another place to re-do the wheel balancing. That is not to say Smooth is not a good shop, or YOU should not go there. Update: After I contacted them, Smooth did offer to rebalance the wheel. Credit for that. Update: used them a few times for more my mundane cars, and they have been extremely responsive, friendly and they got things done - so up o 4/5 stars. I recommend them to my friends and co-workers.

I ordered a set of tires and wheels from Tire Rack and had them installed on my Crosstrek by Smooth Automotive. They were quick to install, and they test drove the vehicle to make sure everything was done properly. I always check my tire pressure after I leave since some shops over inflate, but the tires were inflated exactly to spec. They even wrapped up my old tires and wheels and carefully placed them in the trunk. Extremely professional to every customer that came in. If I didn’t live over an hour away, I’d be a regular customer. Highly recommend this shop!
