I took my car over to the dealership I bought my car from last week for a standard oil change and tire rotation. The dealership had even given me an inspection report stating they looked at each brake system on each tire. Immediately after leaving, I heard a sort of ticking sound while driving and figured it had something to do with the tires. I let it be for two days to see if it would work it self out, but by Friday it was still making the sound. I called the dealership and they scheduled me for the following Wednesday so they could take a look at it. It took them 2 hours to say it was a caliper seated incorrectly and advised me to call the service shop that replaced my brakes because that’s who would’ve made the mistake. They assured me it was safe to drive on though. I called over to Spalding and left a message stating what was going on. Mind you, my brakes were replaced by JR and his staff back on January 29, 2024 and this was the first I was hearing the concerning noise right after the dealership rotated the tires (August 28, 2024). I knew it wasn’t from when my brakes were done, but a second opinion wouldn’t hurt. Cody (new owner at Spalding) called me back and was more than happy to get me in immediately. I was able to bring it over and he diagnosed the issue very quickly. The caliper wasn’t attached properly to the wheel because there was a bolt missing! If the dealership truly had looked at the brake systems of each wheel, it would’ve been easy for someone familiar with cars to see and diagnose the issue. I’ll attach two photos. The whole brake system was dragging along the inner wheel which was making the noise I was hearing. He said it was definitely not safe to drive on. He fixed it and I had my car back an hour later. I’m so grateful for him and the staff there at Spalding because I have three young children I cart around in my vehicle that could’ve been seriously hurt if the brakes would’ve failed due to the negligence of the staff at the dealership. Cody didn’t charge me a dime, even though it was nothing he or his staff were responsible for! Amazing customer service! 10/10 will recommend him every time to anyone asking for car help. Extraordinarily trustworthy and great people.
