I was getting ripped off by another mechanic in the area, and an uber driver recommended that we go to Tommy's Autoworks. My mom tried them first and has continued to go there for over a year! I just got another car and had them service it, and I couldn't be happier with their customer service and level of communication. When I couldn't afford my repairs, they even gave me a way (through a third party) to finance the expenses!

Over this past Thanksgiving holiday, I took a road trip from Orlando to Gainesville. About 15 miles outside of Gainesville all the lights on my dashboard started flashing and the car started losing power. The car was struggling to go over 40 miles an hour. The previous weekend I had my car serviced by my mechanic for an oil change and he also fixed a problem with the cruise control, so I had no idea what was going on. I made it to my destination and my dear friend recommended I bring the car to Tommy’s AutoWorks. It seems like all cars have random problems over the holidays and they were swamped (😜) but they worked diligently to get me in and find the problem and get it resolved so I could safely return back to Orlando. They even stayed open way past closing time and the next morning the mechanic (Jeff) came in before they opened to meet me and test drive the car. He wanted to make sure everything was perfect so I could get on the road. Evie (who pretty much runs the place) made sure I understood all the work that was done and answered all of my questions. If you are in Gainesville and are having any type of troubles with your car, I would highly recommend Tommy’s AutoWorks. It was a blessing to find a business that was honest and trustworthy.

He is definitely the BEST family own mechanic! The MOST HONEST mechanic! My dad took his car to change the brakes of his car and Tommy was sooo nice and friendly and checked the whole car to make sure the car was running good. He will be my go to mechanic from now on!! Hands down!!

I called them if they can check the A/C of my pick up truck without appointment 1 hour b4 get there, said yes, waiting fear time to get my vehicle again with cold and powerful A/C. Charged me some amount and also I asked for some discount , and the did it. Great customer service at office and mechanical shop as well. I was taken care of by the same owner, Tommy, and I had a respectful and very cultured conversation as well.

My daughter had taken her car to Auto ER here in Gainesville and they claimed it would be $1800 to replace the thermostat, thermostat housing and hoses. I knew that was ridiculous so I sought another alternative. Fortunately, a friend highly recommended Tommy's so we took the car to them. Tommy took the time to properly assess the car overheating and noticed first that someone had intentionally loosed all of the C clamps on the hoses. Then he replaced the thermostat, thermostat housing, did a coolant flush and an oil change and the problem was solved. And the hoses were just fine and did not need to be replaced, and instead of $1800, it was $260! Equally as important, his daughter who manages the office is just wonderful! From the first phone call through the entire process, she was kind and courteous and just a pleasure to speak to. It is so refreshing to find a mechanic who is honorable and trustworthy and whose prices are so reasonable. I HIGHLY recommend you give them a try. They are just good people!

After I got robbed at tires plus, I came here and had wonderful experience! They were sympathetic to my situation ( tires plus had charged me $900 for a brake service service that was not necessary and when that didn’t fix the problem they wanted to charge me another $900), and gave me a full free inspection assuring me my newly acquired truck was safe to drive. I’ve been coming back ever since and they are great every time! Very knowledgeable, HONEST and good prices.

I’m a student and always a bit nervous taking my car to mechanics. Tommy’s auto works completely put all my anxieties at ease. The went the extra mile. The employees stayed over an hour after closing to make sure my car was completed so I could get it back for work the next day. I have had my car serviced a few times here now and prices are always very fair with amazing people helping you. 10/10 would recommend them!

I am absolutely thrilled that I found this place. I moved to Gainesville six months ago, and I have been putting off finding a new mechanic because my previous one was excellent, but I am now 45 minutes away. Recently, my check engine light came on in my older car, and I was nervous considering all of the costly routine maintenance work I have had done that you would expect in a 26-year-old car. They were able to read the code on my car right then and there, put me at ease when they gave me a beyond-reasonable quote for an O2 sensor, and scheduled me for the next day. When I came in for the repair, they got right to work. When they were finished with the repair, we went for a test drive, and she was running smoother than ever. Jeff explained to me everything they did, including adjusting my idle. He told me that I would want to eventually have my exhaust leak addressed to help my car run even better and keep all of the sensors clean and the system optimized. I asked what the cost of that repair would be, and they put my car back in the air. There were three big holes in my exhaust. I was told it could have been because the car sat around for quite a while before I bought it. He said they could patch it easily until I was ready to do the full repair. They patched the holes at no extra charge, and now my car is like a completely different car. I feel so at ease knowing that they are right across town, and while it is unusual to say, "I can't wait to return to the auto shop.", I certainly look forward to this being the place I come to the next time my car inevitably needs service. They really make you feel like family—just a lovely crew altogether.

Terrible experience. Took my car in to have my head gasket replaced. They wanted $3k, I agreed. Took them over forty-five days to complete it. Never reached out to me with updates. It was always me calling them to get an ETA. 45 days is a long time, but I was more than understanding and never complained. Not once. The real bs was after I got it back. Not even a day after driving it, my engine light came on. It was an error code that was linked to the timing chain. Mind you, there was absolutely nothing wrong with my timing chain prior to this shop. I gave the car back to them, and they confirmed it was the chain. They wanted to charge me $900 to replace it. Asked a separate mechanic abt this and he said when replacing my head gasket, you’re going to inevitably mess with the timing chain. But even if they didn’t, it still happened while they had it. But of course they refused to fix it. That’s some shady stuff right there. This happened sometime in October of ‘23. Not sure what took me so long to write this, but felt compelled to say something.

Honestly they were too quick lol Got there a few mins late for my 3:45 appointment, and by the time my wife could leave the house to pick me up they were done by 4:10. Can’t praise this place enough - Dodge dealer failed miserably to replace the ABS module on our car (new ones discontinued and used ones impossible to program according to Dodge, apart from them refusing to install a used one anyway) but Tommy’s got it done. Involved more than a week of them sourcing parts online and at used car part yards, multiple installs, new software, new hardware, ordering ubers for us when delays happened - they were patient, resourceful, responsive, and the final charges very reasonable. Wonderful to find a place like this!

Tommy’s is run by a great family with good values. Went in for a check-up, oil change, and a diagnostic. The price for the work was given to me up front before any work was done which was GREAT. The service was friendly and informative. The service was also done promptly and I was able to get my car back on the same day. Even though the diagnostic revealed extra issues, those issues were thoroughly explained and next steps were given. This is a place where I know I won’t get cheated. Honest reliable work is done here. I will surely be back.

I was blessed to find Tommy's Autoworks. After years using a different auto shop that never really fixed my car or the air conditioning and charging me a hefty amount I decided to use a different one. Tommy's Autoshop was very reasonable and fixed all the problems I was having with my 2011 Jeep Liberty, I had to put a new altenator and I was charged $401.00 (other's wanted fom $900.00 to $1,200.00) They fixed my a/c that now is working perfectly. The windshield wiper fluid had not been working and they fix that as well. They did allot of work in my car and all for under $1,00.00. I highly recommend them. As far as I am concerned they are the best! Thank you Tommy's Autoworks for a job well done.
