Same great service as Toms in a slightly harder to find location. So glad the team from the old shop is still around. My family has used them for decades and I'm sure my kids will too. Honest and reliable garage, nothing else to say.

I called on a Friday hoping to have my car looked at and fixed (I had a coolant leak). They did not have time on Friday but scheduled me to bring my car in Monday morning. I told them my concerns, they brought my car into the garage immediately and gave me a time and cost estimate. They called me to update me on the issue and tell me when they would get the part they needed. Around 2pm they called again to say my car was ready. All the men that worked there were kind and helpful. The price was also very reasonable and I had my car back the same day.

Called Tom's on a Wednesday and talked to Edgar, explained my car problem to him, said I could bring it in Thursday morn. Used their tow service because my car was not mechanically sound to drive. Within 1 1/2 hrs of dropping it off at their shop they called with the diognosis and had ordered the part and given me an estimate. By 2 pm Friday they called and said it was ready. They missed their estimate by about $300.... It was less than what they quoted me! Their communication with the customer is excellent, they promptly call you and don't leave you hanging. I knew exactly who, what, when, and where. Very professional and courteous. The first thing I noticed when walking into the shop was how clean and organized it was. Pretty good symptom of what kind of work Tom and the people who work for him do. Also after paying my bill, Tom handed me the broken parts without me asking for them....nice! We were out of towners and had no idea what to expect, this shop reaffirmed my faith that there are still good honest people in this world. Thanks Tyler and Tom, your shop has earned a lifetime of free advertising from us.

I had a great experience, the DMV required a star smog for my vehicle so I came here. The shop is very clean, and Mark was very professional. My car failed the first time and Mark was helpful explaining possible causes and pointed me in the right direction to get things working properly. The shop is a bit hard to see, but it’s a diamond in the rough worth checking out.

Good, honest people. When I can, I work on my cars myself, but was lacking the tools for this job. This mechanic knew his stuff, gave me a fair price for the work, and got it done in a timely fashion. He also set me up with a buyer for the vehicle I was getting worked on. The buyer had brought in another vehicle for a pre-purchase inspection, at which point Mark, the mechanic, told him it was a lemon and steered him towards mine instead. So that was a nice bonus for taking my truck there. Overall, couldn't ask for better service.

Tom and his crew have been taking care of our family's vehicles for over 15 years. They're not the cheapest out there but their expertise and integrity are greatly appreciated. It's worth a few extra bucks to not have the corporate lube outfit across the street swap out your engine oil with transmission fluid, which actually happened to my father in law 😂😂😥

He knows what his value is and charges accordingly. I went to him today for a brakes issue and was ready to double check with everything to ensure I needed what he suggested. Turns out, he found the smallest issue and just charged for the time he spent on it and gave recommendations on a unique issue I've never heard of before for the next brake job that we do need. Priceless.

TLDR: not trust worthy, lied about how long they worked on my car. Came in because my Mazda was having an issue with the air conditioning, was told it would take an hour to diagnose. Got a call later that day when they had “spent an hour” and was told it was going to be another hour and I’d have to pay for it. I told them no thanks and I would take it to another shop. When I got there the manager had me sit down in his office so that his technician could finish up. Took him another 30 minutes until he came back with a diagnosis… they didn’t even look at my car until I told them I was going to take it somewhere else. Long story short, they lied about how long they were looking at my car and tried to add on another hour of labor charges.

This is my first review ever and I have to say this Automotive Repair shop has been the best by far. I had a problem with my truck and Tom did his finest to resolve the issue. He studied the problem patiently and meticulously. He figured out the cause without throwing in you need this or that and sky-rocketing the price. I would definitely reccomend Tom's Monterey Auto Repair to any person with a car issue. They won't just do a diagnostic, they will find the problem.

Toms employees are always friendly and inviting. They are ready and willing to answer any questions I may have, leaving me knowing exactly what is going on with my vehicle. Toms is a great, trustworthy place to take your car. I always feel good when I drop it off because I know they will do good work and what is best for my vehicle and I. Awesome place, and they give excellent straightforward advice!

I have used Tom's Auto Repair for years. I have always been very happy with their service and price. They treat customers well and have never hesitated in giving good auto advice even when it meant less profit to their company. I will continue to use them for all my auto needs.

The ambient sensor went out on my BMW. I made an appointment with BMW for next morning to drop the car at 830am, and leave it there. They had no loaner car available. I didn’t know what to do, needed the car to work. So I called Tom’s auto services and they said they will try to squeeze it in their schedule. Dropped the car at 1pm and at 1:45 it was ready. They told me that the sensor itself worked, only the cables were chewed by mice and they fixed the cables. They could easily charge me $90 for the parts, but they didn’t. Honest and very nice people. I highly recommend them!

It's taken me an unfortunately long time to write this review as I've been driving cross country. Before coming to Tom I was in a huge rut. I had to be across the country in 2 weeks and my car was having drivability issues along with the check engine light being on. It was waiting at the Chevy dealership for a part that they told me they had no idea when would arrive. I called Tom's and was immediately able to schedule an appointment with them. When they looked at my car they were able to fix it in a day and charged me less than 200 dollars for something the dealership was quoting at $1,800. I could not recommend this place enough. And would also actively encourage anyone to avoid going to the jiffylube across the street from this location as they were the ones who originally messed up my car (incorrectly installed my air filter)! I wish I could remember the name of the man behind the desk who scheduled my appointment because he was great as well. The employees here were able to reassure me, help me, and save me hundreds of dollars. If u ever have car troubles please seek the help of Tom's Auto Shop!

I started going to Tom's Auto Repair over ten years ago after my dealership told me I needed an expensive repair, which I questioned. As suspected, Tom's told me that the repair wasn't necessary. Tom's was right, I never experience any problems by not doing the repair. Since that, I have been a steady customer to Tom's Auto Repair. I am currently having them do new-car service on my van. Tom's is highly professional, very honest, and from the appearance of their garage, they are highly organized and clean. I recommend Tom's Auto to all of my friends.

Amazing work! They were quick, courteous, and, most importantly, honest. The dealership said I needed a new water pump and brakes, to include rotors, and was quoting me over $3,000 of work. Tom's quoted me under $500 for the water pump and told me the truth about my brakes and did not try to blow smoke up my you know what. Ultimately cost me less than $600 and they did great work and finished it up same day. Highly recommend them for all your automotive work!!!

Very pleased. I'm new to the area and took my vehicle to the dealership and they tried to price gouge me to replace a couple heater hoses. Mark is very pleasant and easy to work with. He ordered the parts and had the hoses changed in an hour. Cost less than 1/3 of what the dealership was charging. Very good communication in explaining the process. Good honest mechanics are hard to find. Thankfully my coworker put me in touch with him. 5 star service.

Really rude bad customer service don’t know his name so can only describe he was was Asian descent. I don’t recommend this place! I can see there are other bad reviews like mine Saying how rude they are. I Got a really bad gut instinct at this place while I was there thinking this place isn’t good and to leave. I felt very disrespected as a customer and a snotty attitude towards me from the guy, you think they be courteous and want your business but NOT this place . I Came to get a smog check called to make sure it was star certified and the cost . When I get there he charges me more and and said I didn’t call for that info and rude . I called exactly for that reason I even repeated myself 2-3 times to make sure it was $62.00 including smog certificate and it was a star certified station because my dmv renewal paper said it has to be a star. The Asian guy ( don’t know his name ) denied I said that abd called for that reason and grabbed my smog paper from my hand when I drove up which was odd to read it and starts questioning me on where my address was and I should move cause my address not say monterey . I have just moved here so has my old address I had some questions on the star smog and he was more into where I live and did not listen to me it was just a real bad customer service and he was mean. I hate to see if MY car had issues and I had to deal with him . Bad vibe no respect. I told him I’m not comfortable with all the questions that I should move and asking me on my address & you deny that I called for a price then charge me more than what you said . The whole experience was off . He never apologized he said fine go . Just strange you think In this day and age companies need the work and would be respectful to customers. I don’t recommend this place at all.

Really surprised to see such a rude person. Came for diagnostics after car broke down and Mark found problem with transmission, no problem there. Later was given an estimate on the work needed. And when I was just asking normal questions about pricing, he was super rude and telling me that if other places promised me cheaper price. I should go there. I am going through divorce, and big move across the country, and just was trying to figure out how to pay $ 6500 repair costs. Next day Mark emailed me saying that I better go somewhere else.so he refused to provide service. Which surprised me even more, usually places trying to keep clients and help. Instead he told me again and again about his experience but refused to do the job for some reason. Thankfully I found more than one place that could do the same job. 1000$ cheaper. And much faster. The actual transmission shop so they know what they are doing. When I arrived to pick up my car it was moved to the back of the shop. So Mark had to use a pusher to get out.(probably that's how he moved it there before) Pusher damaged my new shiny car on the front bumper so bad. Down to plastic. So needs a paint job. Mark said when I will fix my transmission to just stop by and he will repair it for me. Didn't even apologize. I was so disappointed 😥 terrible customer service really. If you have so much experience why you have a pusher that has damaged sponge on it so it scratched my new car??why didn't you even say that you sorry for this. I am already struggling with anxiety and depression and this added tremendous amount of stress and pain to my heart. Now Mark is not answering emails. Even he told me he would refer me to the body shop,as he is not able to work, I am moving to the Eats coast on September 8th, so if he won't answer soon will have to fix it somewhere and send him a bill or to go to court with it already when I relocate as I have pictures from Progressive insurance the day before and next day with bumper damage. So I have proof and Progressive insurance have proof, but I am incredibly disappointed how someone could be so careless and rude. Mark damaged not just my car, but affected my well-being horribly Beware people, he only wants big checks, without putting any work to it and doesn't care about you as a client Karma will get him, or maybe already did

This just to confirm that we love TOM's, used to go to TOM's at MUNRAS for years and now whenever we have issues with our cars, a NISSAN car and an ESCALADE truck, we see Edgar who runs the show and have never been disappointed about service and / or price!
