This is my go to for auto repairs. They are thorough when it comes to if you want the repairs and how soon it can be done. I’ve had multiple parts serviced and replaced on my car from them. I’ve had my car inspected for registration by them. The only thing they should work on is communication with the customer. Sometimes I haven’t had a clear timeline on the car and they respond to update me on the vechicle but again they’re an auto repair shop not a call center

This is the worst auto shop in Baltimore. I went down there with a specific issue. They replaced parts and didn’t fix the issue. Then they say it’s something else that’s over $3500. They’re a scam and need to be shutdown.

Scheduled a MD state inspection over the phone, and before I hung up I asked - “Is there anything specific that I should bring with me?” To which the associate answered, “Nope, just you and your car.” I brought my car to the appointment the next day and dropped it off. Top Gear called me a couple hours later telling me they couldn’t find the special lug nut key and asked me to bring them with me. I arrive back at Top Gear (had to get a Lyft) and find the special lug nut keys right where I thought they were which was on top of the spare tire. Top Gear told me they could no longer see me that day and to bring my car back the next morning, which I did. The entire day went by with no phone call, I called, no answer, so I got another Lyft to Top Gear. The inspection was completed and I took my car. I drove my car to the MVA the next day to get new registration as I was moving from FL back to MD. I get up to the counter for my appointment and the MVA associate pointed out that Top Gear had written the VIN number incorrectly and so I wouldn’t be able to get a new registration until that is corrected. I went back this morning to get it corrected and was not offered anything or any discount for all of the inconvenience (running around, extra time, extra money) even after expressing frustration so I will not be returning.

I had an accident and had my car towed here. I called on a Saturday because the tow happened the night before, the owner told he would call me on Monday with an estimate. I waited until 12 noon and no call was made to me. I called at 1pm and the front desk guy said give me 5 minutes and I'll call you back. No call for the entire day. Tuesday morning, I called and talked to the owner again, he informed me that he would call me back no later than 2pm that day. Yet, again, no call. I called another shop, my insurance to do a claim. Christmas morning, I received a text with a claim. I called the store and spoke to someone who gave me excuses for a new front desk clerk . I was not happy about the excuses and the unprofessionalism shown towards me especially when I've been a repeat customer. Now they are rushing me to get my car and/or my belongings, stating: "this is not a parking place" mind you there's a car that has been in the same parking area, broken down, since a year ago. I'll never come back here again. Unprofessional, over charge, and not on time for anything.

I came in today and encountered the kind Black man with locs who recognized me from coming in a few weeks before. I had recieved an inspection and my tints removed at this location. All I needed was another stamp because my paperwork was misplaced by the mva. The man with locs had no problem, but Aman (the slovenly man pictured) had me waiting 30 minutes for what should have taken 2 minutes. Not only did he charge me again, but really was acting like I was being untruthful on whether I had just been there for tint removal and inspection. Doing extra, like calling the boss, even with the invoice from when I had just been there, he still had a problem. My suggestion, if you want to be on a power trip, at least put yourself together and be presentable

If you value your time and money don't go here. Top Gear should be called Bottom of the Barrel. They failed to set up appointments when I called (twice) then accused me of lying about it despite having the employees name I spoke with. Plus they told me I needed a front end alignment when I had just gotten it the previous day. The alignment shop checked it and it was fine.

Top Gear was recommended to me when I asked DJ over at the nearby Mr. Tire where I can get a MD state inspection done. I showed up at 9am, had a list of everything that needed to get done by 12pm, and the car was done - and inspection passed - by 4:30pm. Considering this involved new struts, a wheel assembly, a valve cover gasket, and some smaller things, I'm seriously impressed and would recommend this place to anyone. A nearby shop took weeks to do a similar job on another car. Would give more than 5 stars if I could.

⭐ One-Star Review – My Experience I brought my car to Top Gear because it was making a noise when braking. After inspecting the vehicle, I was told that the front brake pads and rotors were worn out and needed to be replaced. I agreed and asked about the cost and warranty. I was told the total cost would be $400, with a one-year unlimited warranty, which they said is standard at most repair shops. The work was completed and I received a receipt. However, about one month later, the same noise returned. I brought the car back multiple times. After three separate visits, they then told me the issue was actually with the rear brake pads, which also needed replacement. Trusting their diagnosis, I agreed and paid an additional $157. Unfortunately, the noise was still present the same day I drove the car. I returned again and was asked to come back the following day. The next day, a front desk employee named Charlie inspected the car and advised me to purchase brake pads and rotors directly from Toyota (OEM parts). I was told they would install those parts and return their previously installed parts for a refund. I purchased the Toyota OEM brake pads and rotors and brought them in. After checking the vehicle again, I was then told that the issue was not related to the brakes, but instead was a transmission (gearbox) problem, and I was advised to take the car to a Toyota dealership for inspection. I scheduled an appointment with Toyota and left my car with them. After two days of inspection, Toyota informed me that: • The noise was caused by the brake pads and rotors, not the transmission • The vehicle also had a leaking rear main seal I purchased brake pads and rotors from Toyota and returned to Top Gear with Toyota’s written inspection report. After reviewing the report, Top Gear installed the Toyota brake pads and rotors that I personally paid for. However, they refused to refund or return the brake pads and rotors they originally sold me for $400, despite the issue being identified as related to the brakes. They continued to insist that Toyota’s diagnosis was incorrect and maintained that the problem was with the transmission. I left the shop extremely disappointed. I have only been in this country for about a year and a half, and I felt that my lack of familiarity may have been taken advantage of. In total, I paid $557, yet: • The vehicle was not properly diagnosed from the beginning • The original repairs did not resolve the issue • The originally installed parts were not refunded or returned Based on my experience, I do not recommend this shop and am leaving one star. I have receipts, invoices, and Toyota’s inspection report available upon request.

These fellas break down everything so you can see how much parts cost and labor. They even go into great detail to show you what needs fixing on your car and why. I've been here twice now and the experience has been positive. The staff was polite and informative.
