Friendly, skilled, and prompt service. I was only visiting Troutdale and was therefore on a pretty tight schedule for how quickly I needed my car to be up and running again. The guys were mindful of that and got the job done perfectly. I would gladly recommend them.

I am a single female; the perfect target for an unscrupulous, greedy and dishonest person(s) to take advantage of me in a big way when it comes to car repair. Troutdale Transmission is NOT that kind of place. Bruce and his team are very professional; I recently took my car in as Weston GMC told me I needed new brakes all the way around, to the tune of $700. I wanted to get a quote from Bruce. Mid-day, he called and said there was 'nothing' wrong with my brakes, that I may want to look at them again around January. Do you understand how easy it would've been for him to take advantage and go ahead and replace the brakes? I'm no mechanic, so I have to rely on the recommendations of other people. By the way, his quote was $400, had they needed to be done. There are few people left in this world who are as ethical and honest as Bruce; single ladies of Troutdale, you can't go wrong if you take your car to Troutdale Transmission. You'll be treated with respect and always dealt with fairly.And that goes for anyone that needs work on their car. Thank God for Bruce!

On May 15, 2018 my Jeep became stuck, while traveling in Portland, when the starter failed. Troutdale Transmission & Auto Repair was kind enough to fit me in the next day. Once completed, I was informed that the starter had a one year warranty. In late February 2019 I contacted Bruce (the owner or Troutdale Transmission) and let him know that the car was in the shop in Washington with a starter failure. He assured me that he would refund the cost of the part (206.00) but not the labor (180.00) as I was not able to return to the shop (over six hours from my home). I agreed. I asked him if he needed anything from the people repairing it, pictures, core, paperwork. He said no. After waiting over a week I called him on March 7 and he assured me that his wife would write a check and send it on March 8. I verified my address and phone number. On March 26 I called and left a message having not received a check. On April 11 I talked to an employee who assured me he would get the message to Bruce. I once again reviewed my address and phone number. It is now April 21 and I have received no calls and no check. It has become clear to me that Bruce and Troutdale Transmission have no intention of honoring their commitments. My recommendation is to avoid this unethical shop at all costs.

NEVER GO HERE! I wish I could leave 0 stars. My vehicle broke down and I had it towed there. When I stopped in to give the owner my contact information, he let me know there was a backlog and since it wasn't an emergency he'd get to it when he could. He supposedly lost my contact information, but instead of trying to track me down, he had my vehicle towed to an impound lot and it eventually got auctioned off. He doesn't fix cars, he steals them.

Awesome service and great prices. We have brought our vehicles here a few times and have always been treated good. Cheaper then most others garages and in my opinion better workmanship. They try to accommodate everyone in a timely manner.

These guys worked well with me. The only thing was after my tranny was rebuilt, the yoke was found to be damaged also. They said nothing to me. No call. Nothing. I would have liked a heads up rather than having to fix something after the tranny was just fixed. The yoke broke 50 yards from my driveway. Other than that, just fine.

Bruce & his team are by far the best I've ever dealt with. No BS, to the point diagnosis, very fair pricing, & best of all - you need not worry about being ripped off. I've had Bruce & his people do some extensive work on a couple different vehicles, & always, it's been perfect work for a good price. They will not ever recommend work that does not need to be done; only a no - nonsense repair for the root problem. They'll also let you know if there are any other things that may need attention, & even give you the no-BS truth about what needs attention & what can wait, if you need to be selective. Also, my Mom has been going to Troutdale Transmission for years now. She's an older lady now, in her greater 60's, & she knows (and I know!) , she'll be treated with respect by the friendly team that Bruce has. Don't bother going anywhere else. If you're looking for your GOOD, HONEST mechanic, you've found it here.

Great company to work with the owner is a great . They take the time and did the job right I had a Dodge that I transferred to a 5 speed from an automatic from or shop I ended up taking it to Troutdale transmission to be fixed. The guys there did an excellent job and I would highly recommend any and all transmission works go to them. excellent job can't complain And if I had any problems he was more than eager to take a look at it and to solve it. I had other shops take a look at my transmission and they were all 4 to 5 times higher in price. Since I've taken my truck doing it's been a year and haven't had one bit of Problems way to go guys. My truck shut off driving down I-84 at 9pm Sunday night. Was able to tow my vehicle there that night not knowing what was wrong. Dropped it off and they had it finished by the afternoon. They did amazing work, quick, friendly and at a great price. I will be a return customer for sure and I highly recommend them. Thank you!

Great service. This is our new mechanic. My wife and I have been there 3 Times this year and have had great customer service. They are very honest and fair with their prices. For example they fixed my wife's Cadillac esclade oil leak. That sounds easy but we have had it to 4 other top rated mechanic shops and no one could figure it out. They fixed it in one day and only charged $100.00. To us that was more than fair considering we already spent almost 4 times that much getting no where.

Thought it was a good idea to go here because they were the cheapest in town. Big mistake. Just had my transmission rebuilt last year, and it is already malfunctioning and showing signs that it is failing. Not to mention, it has been leaking transmission fluid out of the pan gasket ever since they rebuilt it. And my truck stunk like nasty cigarettes for about a month afterwards. Called them and they said they changed their name, of course. And they will not fix for free. Save yourself and do not call these people. Scammers.

New owners took over and the place it’s completely different. Ive been coming here for years, they were always reasonably priced and did a good job. Recently went in and they replaced my front end control arms and charged me TWICE what I was quoted and said it was because it was per arm. That was not said or made clear in anyway until it was time to pay. Almost $900 i ended up paying. Then the problem wasn’t even fixed! I don’t even think they drove it to make sure it wasn’t making the sound anymore. I took it back and they said oh yeah that noise is something else. I was not about to let them have it again so I went to the dealership to get it figured out. Gresham Ford ended up saying it was something completely different and that the place didn’t even tighten the screws when replacing the arms. So disappointed and will never go back.

Have been dealing with the folks at their previous location for over 20 years. Bruce Ray, the owner, is the most honest businessman I've ever encountered. Also very knowledgeable technician The negative reviews resulted from work done by the previous owners.. Highly recommend Bruce and now his son Josh.. You can't go wrong with these guys!

I took my Honda there thinking it was a transmission problem. They ran a check and correctly diagnosed another problem instead. But the cost to replace the engine coils and spark plugs was quoted at 1250 usd. The price in parts from local auto retailers is 450, all in. The job took 30 minutes for me to fix. I question the 800 dollars in labor or other fees. I would suggest going somewhere else for transparent service.
