I don't think I'm ever going to take our vehicles anywhere else from now on! The mechanic assigned to my car called me a couple of hours after dropoff. He had done a full inspection, and we talked about what he saw in addition to the repairs I had requested. He carefully went over the options and helped me decide which repairs were worth it and which were lower priority. Very professional and good solid advice. My 20 year old Pontiac Vibe is going to live a little longer after all :-)

Went to the dealership for an oil change they came back with $1600 worth of work my car needed so I took it to Tys for their input. I needed new front break pads and my front control arms were loose but not dire. They explained everything to a T and their pricing around 35% less than the dealership which saved me about $1k (they fixed both control arms instead of only one quoted by the dealership). They are honest, thorough and do their work well. I feel safe driving my car again and will be using them for all my repair needs.

If you want a car repair shop that is clean, professional, and where the team has a contagious synergy, then I cannot highly recommend Ty’s Automotive in Broad Ripple enough! After being told by a car dealership in Carmel that I needed over $700 worth of services, I decided to get a second opinion. Thank goodness I did. The mechanics at Ty’s Automotive simply *get it*. They understand the incredible positions of power they hold and do not abuse it. We initially chose Ty’s Automotive because my husband, who owns an FJ Cruiser, took his car to them for repair. They were not only swift about diagnosing the issue, but they also fixed it at a very reasonable price. He wasn't charged a dime when he had to return for a minor tweak. The process was easy and seamless, and they earned our trust from that interaction, so I knew I could trust them with my car. When you entrust your car to a professional, you’re already vulnerable. Most of us don’t have the mechanical insight to fully understand what’s going on, so we rely on them to be truthful and honest—not only with pricing but with the necessity of the work that is or isn’t needed. No one likes to be taken advantage of, and Ty’s Automotive ensured I wasn’t. At the KIA dealership in Carmel, I was told the following repairs were necessary: a drive belt replacement for $265, an alignment for $99.99, a coolant exchange for $193, and a transmission fluid exchange for $220. This brought the total to $795.64—money I do not have. I would’ve ended up using a credit card and going into more debt than I could afford. In contrast, the team at Kia of Carmel could learn a lot from Ty’s. There is only one shining light at that dealership: Cory, who installed the fuse for my car's recall—he was absolutely amazing. But beyond Cory, it seems they don’t understand that people already approach dealerships with fear and apprehension, and for good reason. My car is a 2012 with only 89,000 miles on it. I hardly ever drive it, and I keep up with preventative maintenance. I cannot believe they attempted to rip me off. They should be ashamed. You have broken my trust, and that is not good. Ty’s Automotive, on the other hand, considered that times are tough, and people just can’t afford to be taken advantage of when they’re trying to maintain the vehicles that get them to and from the jobs that pay their bills. Their honesty and integrity were a breath of fresh air, especially as I prepare for a family road trip in just a few days. If you want a team that values integrity and fairness and genuinely cares about its customers, Ty’s Automotive is the place to go. They’ve earned my trust and business for life!

Would give 6 stars if I could. I am incredibly impressed with the consistent A+ service that our cars (and we) receive at Ty's Automotive. Special shoutout to Brandon Carter who patiently helped repair our 2013 Jeep Wrangler over the course of multiple trips to the shop. Ty's Automative is everything you want in an auto shop– knowledgable, fair, trustworthy. We won't bring our cars anywhere else.

Ty’s has done so much for me and my Jeep Liberty. About a month ago came in for new shocks and struts and my ride feels much smoother especially on those front struts. Now I am back with a whole new set of problems that I needed looked at. They were able to fix this awful burning smell coming from the engine area and they fixed my braking and my ride has never felt smoother until now. Turns out my front rotors were warped and they were very honest telling me that my pads still had plenty of life left and I feel like any other shop would try to upsell me and say I need new pads and everything but not Ty’s. Ty’s has always been very honest. I also had a heater problem and they put so much time and effort working on that and you can tell the level of commitment that this place has to your vehicle every time you bring it in. You can tell that they are not so much worried about just getting cars off the lot as much as they are about actually fixing the problem and doing the job right and I appreciate that so much. I want to personally thank the technician Paul he worked so diligently and put so much time and effort into the Jeep Liberty and I’m looking at old repair orders and I see that he is assigned my vehicle a lot of the time and I can’t thank him enough and express my gratitude and that also goes out to Ty himself and all of the other technicians that have helped me with my car. Actually a few months back was having trouble with my battery so I swung into Ty’s and I didn’t even have an appointment but they stopped what they were doing and diagnosed I had a leaking battery put in a new battery and sent me on my way. Had a great experience. They are kind and professional and got my car running again quickly. They showed amazing integrity in our conversations by being clear with exactly what they thought the problem was, what the next steps are, and by back tracking installation of new parts when they later discovered that the old part still worked fine and the problem was elsewhere. Took my car in for a check engine light issue. Within an hour they were calling me to let me know what was going on, and I was able to pick my car up an hour or two after that. They explained everything with transparency, and did not try to make me pay any more than necessary. The last place I took my car for a check engine light issue, I was required to keep my car there up to 3 days and had to pay for a rental out of pocket, and then found out they didn't look at my car until end of day the second day they had it, and I was the one who kept calling them to ask for updates. So I was incredibly appreciative of Ty's speedy, reliable, and affordable service. Will definitely be using them in the future and can't recommend them enough!

Had an appt for them to check out my brakes and suspension and within an hour of their having opened (I'd done overnight drop off), they'd called and advised what was necessary versus what could be postponed along with a really good recommendation of how long each of those things could wait. I got a quote for the things they were going to do that was extremely reasonable, and when I came in to pick up the car and pay only a few hours later, it was actually over $100 (maybe closer to $200) less than even the quoted amount, so to say I'm happy with them is an understatement. On top of that, the service advisor was super friendly. I'd been nervous to take my car in bc I'd never gone to them before but also haven't really gone anywhere in Indianapolis for significant repairs since moving here, but am wicked glad I went to Ty's.

Ty is Indy's Scotty Kilmer, the famous You Tube Old School mechanic. Been going to see Ty for 15 years after finding him on Angie's List back in the day when you could trust the list before the company was purchased by unscrupulous Home Advisor. Ty won the prestigious Super Service Award every year! I love taking my car to Ty. He never ever sells you things you don't need because he has plenty of business and is not corporate chain with sales goals. Every visit is top notch professional and stress free with gentle prices. Today my 2010 Toyota Avalon (I call her "Cream Puff") got new rotors, tire rotation, full synthetic oil change, bulb replacement, cabin filter and thorough car inspection. The bill wasn't high and came to under $600 and only took 1.5 hours. The wait room is big and spacious, nice customers to chat with and family feel to the very clean shop. There's even an office cubicle if you want to work while you wait. All of his mechanics are kind and professional and VERY knowledgeable. He takes all the stress away and knows his stuff.

Go to Ty's! The place I went to before this was terrible. I was told the issues with my car were "normal" because my car was old (a 2011 model), but here I felt listened to. I brought my car in first thing in the morning and they got it done same day, despite how busy they were. The price was a steal too; I was expecting much higher than I actually paid. I was very pleased with the service here. I had a tire center mess up one of the lug nuts and they outsourced the repair of this. Ty got me in the same day with good results at a reasonable price. I think there’s a good reason why this establishment has a good reputation in the area, and I’m glad they stuck around when they left the 49th and Penn location.
