I've been bringing my cars to Mark for years. He's an honest mechanic and he does good work. I laughed just now reading a couple of the negative reviews people posted on here because not only has he saved me thousands upon of thousands of dollars over the years but my last two trucks have both made it over 400,000 miles, largely because of him.

Best experience I ever had at a mechanic shop(I’m 51). Honest, fast, quality work at the best prices in Baton Rouge. What else can you ask for??

Do not be put off by the rustic appearance of this small garage. The service is excellent, fast, and fairly priced. I had my 20-yr-old minivan's leaky radiator replaced in a few hours with no appointment a month ago and it has been running perfectly since. They even topped off all the fluids at no charge. Highly recommended! If you need somewhere to wait during the servicing, I suggest walking a couple blocks toward campus and hanging out at Highland Coffee or Chimes or one of the other nearby establishments.

DO NOT GO HERE EVER!!!!!!!!!! I had my car towed after I notice it making this really loud noise and the ABS, BRAKE and Steering warning lights came on. They called saying my alternator and water pump needed to be fixed and it would cost over $500. Since I was referred there and they had nice reviews I took a chance. BIG MISTAKE!!!!!!!!! I went to pick up my car and ALL the warning light were still on and now the check engine light was also on. They excuse was I only told them about the water pump. Which is a lie, since I did not even know the water pump was the issue. I asked why are the lights were and why was they check engine light now on and now the speedometer does not work. According to him those problems weren't what I asked him to fix and the check engine light is on is a new problem. According to Mark himself they don't do extra. Which is all BS, considering I asked him to fix my car in general. He then explained how he does not drive or check the cars to check things or all working. Which is also a lie considering he had to drive the car across the street to park, at which point he would have seen all the lights were still on. This man is ridiculous!!!!!!!!!!!!! How as a mechanic you would allow a car back on the road with 4 warning lights on not inform the driver of a issue you failed to fix is WRONG!!!!!!!!!! I paid $500 to have them only fix have the problem!!!!!!!!! Do not trust him!!!!! Save yourself the trouble. How he has lasted this long is beyond me.

I called in advance for them to do an oil change on my car because apparently several chain shops that I went to earlier in the morning, like Goodyear will not work on older vehicles let alone change the oil. They said they would be able to do an oil change until I got there and they heard a slight noise that my car was making. Instead of attempting to diagnose it or recommend that they do some additional work on it other than what I originally was going there for, they straight up refused to help me and set me away. If you’re a mechanic shop then you should be prepared for anything, and actually help people that are recommended to you instead of sending the money wild goose chase across town. I’m surprised that they’ve survived this long as a business.

I've taken my car there to have a complete tune up, and Mark and his staff completed it within 7 hours. Not only did he do that, he also called to tell my that my axle was badly damaged, and he replaced that with my permission, for a very reasonable cost. A year or so later, my alternator went out, and he replaced it for a very reasonable price. Not only did he do that, when my aunt didn't answer her phone that day to pay for the repair since she and Mark made a payment arrangement, he allowed me to take my car for the amount I had on me in cash and have her pay the rest the next day. And when I thought the alternator was faulty, I went back and he and his staff inspected and tested it for free, and told me that my battery was shot since my alternator went out. I recommend anyone to see Mark and his team! Definitely a great business with honest practices.

I have had several experience with this business. Each one has not been pleasant. The owner always seem rushed in encounters with me. Interactions are as if I am a nuisance as opposed to conducting business In a professional manner. The owner appears to always display a negative attitude. In our recent conversation, I learned that service on engines is not being conducted at this facility. Also, neither are foreign vehicles. Mark, owner, is a friend of my dad, but I have not known him on a real personal basis. This may be the reason underlining cause of such experiences. I was satisfied with the Owner's response. Although, prices at University Car Care may be a bit high it's justified the performed work. I have given Mark a another chance to make good on his promise. Papi spent a lot time today with Mr. Mark. Mr. Mark is doing a full inspection for Papi, all mechanical repairs and recommendations. Mr. Mark is greatly loved by dad. My dad turned against me for Mr. Mark, I was hurt but took time to understand their tremendous bond. My dad has spent times at Mr. Mark house. Mr. Mark has agreed to speak with corporate about the purchase of such landmark. Thanks Big Papi, from Our Family. We Love You Mark forever!!! Papi

This guy is a cheater. Make sure you talk about cost of every thing before letting him work on your car. He charged me 3 times for a window motor. He was arguing with another customer also who was complaining about his pricing. Today, I had really bad experience at this shop. My rear window was not going up. So I visited this shop. The shop owner told me it gonna be 100 bucks for our service plus cost for the motor. He took an hour and half to fix it. My window was working perfectly fine. But he charged me 225 dollars. The motor was 39 dollars worth at every auto part shops. But he charged me 112 dollars for it, 3 times its original part. I showed him the price on internet. But he said thats the price on internet. It cost difference at my shop.

Mark and the other workers were very friendly and courteous in explaining to me what was wrong with my car and how to fix it. The services they provided were at an extremely reasonable rate, and the services performed were done quickly and professionally. I will recommend anyone I know to use this shop for their automotive care needs, as they will fix you up and send you on your way perfectly. This may be the best car repair shop in Baton Rouge. Definitely a hidden gem!

Amazing place. Had a price quote for me immediately after diagnosis. Called me back to the shop so I can see with my own 2 eyes what the underlying issue was with the vehicle. Did the job all in 1 day. I would say a great price for what they had to do. old van runs like a champ now. Absolutely my new permanent mechanic shop from now on. very happy. keep it up guys !!!

Outstanding Service! I was thoroughly impressed by the level of care and expertise shown by the mechanic. Not only did they expertly address the issue with my vehicle, but their willingness to explain the process and ensure everything was functioning correctly was above and beyond. It's rare to find such a dedicated and caring professional in the automotive industry. Highly recommended for anyone seeking trustworthy and high-quality car care!

My husband and I have been going here for several years! Mr. Mark goes above & beyond to help get you back on the road safely!! He’s extremely knowledgeable, & honest! He won’t let you replace parts that aren’t needed.. my husband had thought he needed to replace his clutch but Mr. Mark said no, I can just adjust it for you and you can save some money.. there’s been many instances that he’s saved us a lot of money! The area is sketchy but he’s helps the community around there.. I’ve seen him give money out of his own pocket to a guy off the street.. he has replaced numerous parts, some I’ve bought online… I won’t trust my vehicles with anyone else..

Mr. Mark took on the failed AC system in my truck and was very honest and quick with the work at hand. He communicated very clearly what needed to be done as well as any surprises once diving into the job. His prices are also very fair and competitive with the rest of the market. The AC worked just as good if not better than the day I drove it off of the dealership lot once repaired! Thanks again for taking on this job and we will definitely continue to use your shop.

I caught a flat and the only used tire they had, had a plug in it. Now the only reason why I paid for it was because they really worked long on it and said it would be fine. About an hour later it went flat. Kept trying to call but never got an answer. I had to go back to New Orleans but thankfully I found someone to put the spare on. I still feel like they could have called to at least offer me something back.

Habibi, papi, bro… we need to talk. This mechanic said he replaced my cousin’s brakes and rotors. Charged for the work, assured him he was good to go, sent him on his way like everything was solid. Spoiler alert: the work was never done. Not a bolt. Not a pad. Not even a whisper of effort. My cousin then drove from Louisiana to Ohio on what can only be described as faith, prayer, and vibes. The brakes were shaking like they were auditioning for a horror movie. Every stop sign was a negotiation. Every red light was a life choice. The drivers beside him definitely thought he was being electrocuted inside his own car by how much the steering wheel was shaking him! When another shop finally checked the car, they confirmed what the brakes had been screaming the entire drive: nothing had been replaced. At all. Had he driven BACK to Louisiana on those busted brakes, we wouldn’t be writing this review — we’d be lighting candles and telling stories that start with “He was such a good guy…” Calling people habibi, papi, and bro is cute, but doing the actual work you charge for is cuter. This wasn’t a small mistake — this was dangerous, irresponsible, and could have ended very badly. If you value your safety, your car, or your ability to stop at red lights, get a second opinion immediately if you come here. Trust is earned with torque wrenches, not nicknames. Habibi, do better!

I went here to get a brake line fixed, cool. They then told me I needed something else, again, fine. I showed up to pay and they charged me a rate significantly higher than the one expressed on the phone with my estimate, which in many cases is already seen as fraud. But again, I didn't care because at least it was fixed, even if it cost me almost $800. It became a problem an hour and a half after I left the shop when, I believe they contacted my loan company. I am 2500 miles away from home and they reported my vehicle because I was late on 2 payments. They didnt HAVE to do that, I missed my payments to save money for repairs they were paid for. Thankfully I was in a position to cover the costs of both, but who does something like that? Especially a business that should WANT repeat customers, I know the kickback they MAY receive from the tip isn't more money than what we pay them for repairs and kickbacks should be reported. When I left the shop I was hearing a beeping on my car that wasn't there before bringing the car in and my attorney suspects a GPS tracking device was put on my vehicle (without my consent) to make finding the car easier, which isnt just a civil issue in Louisiana, it's criminal. They are not good people in my opinion, which is super disappointing and now I'm having to deal with a lawyer and pay more money because their business practices may not have been legal (according to what I've been told by my counsel). I think you should save yourself the trouble and contact another mechanic if you are in a situation similar to mine; they are not trustworthy to me, and clearly they do not like their customers whatsoever if they did that. You'll also be charged significantly more than whatever they quote you for. Btw, in response to comment from the owner: There is no tracker on my vehicle, do with that information what you will, and if I "didn't have a job" how would I have paid your extremely high bait and switch price? How would I have paid my car note the same day I paid your bait-and-switch price? Lol I am not the only customer saying you do this, you have bad business practices, get over it. Can't throw a temper tantrum every time someone calls you out on it, it's fraud. How did my estimate go from around 200 to 790... that isn't logical to anyone, INCLUDING my attorney.

The only place I will bring my car in Baton Rouge! Always efficient, always fairly priced. I’ve been coming here since I was a Freshman at LSU and have never had a bad experience. Very thankful for this shop 🙏
