we had an alternator go out while we were on a trip from northern Wisconsin and we couldn't find one. We called Van's and they said they had one for $150.00. When we got there he said "as long as you are from out from out of town I cannot warranty it." I said that would be fine as long as its good. Well we got back to the motel and put it in........ 10 minutes later the bike shut down! The battery is dead and so we had to have the bike towed to the Honda dealer. In doing there checking they found the alternator was no good! $700.00 later I called the guy and told him what the techs found and he agreed to only give us back half of our money. Run a bike for 10 minutes and he won't give us our money back! Well when he finally put half the money back on the card they wanted to keep our original receipt. When I said no I wanted it (20 minutes later) they got mad and slammed the other half of the money on the table and said there you go good-bye! Just a bunch of jerks and trying to screw people from out of town!

Was a 20 year customer until today… vans sold me an alternator last year that had a parasitic draw that I finally diagnosed as the alternator. I took it in for a warranty, and since there is another customer in the building, I was told I was inconvenient. I’ll pay $10 more and go to one of the big box stores. Thanks for the inconvenience and waste of time.

Very knowledgeable and trustworthy and can just about look at it and tell you what you need before you tell him what was wrong or the suspected failure. Keeps a very large stock of alternator, generator and starters and rebuilds them in house, you can possibly wait if you're up for an interesting chat and can be a sponge and soak up his knowledgeable information
