I brought my 2001 Mitsubishi Montero Sport there because I thought I had ruined the cylinder heads when the timing belt broke, They were honest with me about the damage being less than I expected. They did find an additional issue that they repaired at a very fair price! I will return to them for future service and I will definitely recommend Vargas Auto Service to anyone who wants honest, quality work at a reasonable price!

My husband and I have both had a great experience with Vargas Auto Service. We took his car in last year for an engine replacement and they did a great job on his car. This year we took an Acura MDX in because it was shutting off with the cold. The check engine light was indicating a misfire with the coils so they replaced them, but the care was still shutting off with the cold. I called them to let them know and scheduled some time to bring the car back in, however, I wasn't able to make it in when I said I would. I was really impressed because they called me to follow up and find out when I would be bringing the car back in. When I brought the car back in they did fix the issue and did not charge us anything more. This may not be the case for everyone but I do believe they are fair. They are honest mechanics with great customer service. Also, I like that they are organized. They have a computer system in place that stores what they've done for you along with your info. This makes it easy to work with them because you don't have to remind them what they've done for you and give them your info again every time you come in. I highly recommend them!

I brought in my car to have the clutch master and slave cylinders replaced. I dropped off the car at 8 AM, and they had it ready to go by 5 PM the same day. They did an excellent job, the clutch feels fantastic, the shifting is nice and smooth now. They charged a fair price for the labor, and were extremely professional and courteous, I would highly recommend these guys.

Had my 1998 Jeep engine rebuilt, new clutch, shocks on all 4 wheels replaced. This is a great repair shop, I don't think they can be beat. Very honest people. I've been taking my vehicles to Vargas Auto Service for many years, I've never been disappointed

Amazing staff, always willing to work with you, and they offer good warranties on service and parts. Fairly honest, easy to get into, and they're the lowest prices that I've seen. Highly recommended. I always go here if my car is having problems that I can't fix myself. They always call and give updates as things are happening, if they find any other issues and if they're worth fixing. For example; My alternator went out, and it was buried under the engine where I couldn't get to. They were able to fix it same day. However, about 8 months later it went out again. (It's a known weak part in my car.) But, they were able to get a new one in for FREE, because it was within their warranty.

I found Vargas (online, through reviews) when I first moved to SLC as a young, single woman in 2015. If you've ever been in a new city in that situation, you know that finding a mechanic is tough work--it always feels like someone is trying to take advantage of you. I have NEVER felt like that at Vargas. I immediately felt like family. These guys are trustworthy, respectful, and treated me exactly the same as every other customer. I have been a Vargas evangelist since the get-go and have sent countless other friends to see them and have never, ever had a complaint. In fact, my friends end up sending their friends to Vargas, too. Here's an example: when searching for a used car, we brought one to Vargas and asked them to check it out. They not only did this for us for free*, but they were honest about the state of the car. When we asked "Would you buy this?" we were told "No. I wouldn't." These guys could have told us yes and banked on the maintenance and repair costs, but they're way too honest for that. Go to Vargas. You'll get honest pricing, clear communication, and a whole lot of respect. *I'm not sure if this is actually a free service or if they were just being kind! Don't quote me on it.

Everyone talks about how they want an HONEST mechanic with FAIR PRICES! Well, folks, this company is it! They have worked on my '02 F150 multiple times, and it has always been returned in better mechanical condition than when I dropped it off. They have never tried to find additional problems in an attempt to charge me for unnecessary repairs. They are VERY highly SKILLED mechanics, and can fix just about any mechanical issue with just about any vehicle. They are amazingly honest, and they put in whatever hours are required so that you get your vehicle back, perfectly repaired, as soon as possible! They're amazingly polite and courteous, and the customer service is well beyond what you would expect from an auto shop! They're extremely honest, highly skilled, amazingly fast, unbelievably polite, and if I may say so, I could almost guarantee that you will be a highly satisfied customer. I know this is a cheesy post, but honestly, I haven been extremely satisfied with their service, so many times, that I actually fully mean all of this cheesy post. If they treat you as well as they have me (and look at the other reviews, they treat everyone awesome) then you will not use another repair shop the rest of your life! Honestly, I truly believe this is the best mechanic shop in Utah (and trust me, I've been to dozens)! Edit as of 9/23, they replaced my clutch in my '02 F-150, they also fixed multiple leaks from the oil and transmission, and more, for no extra labor (replacing the clutch was the labor). My truck is running excellent! These guys do HONEST work at the best prices! You won't go wrong with them! If you need auto repair, no need to shop around, just come to this shop and get the excellent quality at the best prices! I am perfectly happy with them! I've read a couple bad reviews (very few compared to the majority of 5 star reviews they've EARNED) These complaints are not legitimate. The few that I did look at, I also looked at the profiles of the complainants, and almost all of them had multiple negative reviews of multiple different companies. All that said, if you WANT A GREAT MECHANIC AT A GOOD COST/VALUE, these are the guys. I've already done research on them, they're great. I've used them multiple times and their work has always been done correctly. What else can I say?

They have always given me good prices and don't b.s. I recommend using them for any car services. I've gone in with three vehicles over the past 7 years and always had a good experience. There was even a time when I was told from another shop that I needed specific work done and Vargas told me that it was actually another issue that was cheaper which was made me trust that they are not in it to rip me off but to give me good customer service. Also, whenever I call in for a quote, they are quick to reply back with all the options and ask the right questions rather than just assuming something and giving me the highest price. Thanks for all your help and I will be going back the next time I need work on one of my cars.

It makes me happy to see all the 5 star reviews. These guys have been my salvation for 15 years!! I have my folks take their vehicles here, my girlfriend and her kids go here and if many of my friends all go here now. I’ve had my diesel truck, newer Mercedes older Porsche a few VWs to name a few. I’ve had things towed here after hours and only had 1 issue they couldn’t fix (it was water in the diesel fuel system and they weren’t doing diesel diagnostics at the time). I feel like I’m family here and the owner and his son know me by first name when I call on the phone. I feel these guys are my family as well!! I strongly recommend Vargas automotive to anyone who wants a great mechanic! Many times they are less expensive but not always, but they are accurate let me explain, my dad had an issue with his montero and would take it to his favorite shop and yearly would get the vehicles check engine light to shut off.. couple hundred bucks a trip. They take it to Vargas, he comes back with a 600 dollar fix.. 5 years later the problem has never resurfaced!! That’s what I mean by accurate!! They are genuinely concerned about doing things right the first time. I could go on and on about how great they are. I’m taking my 2022 F250 in tomorrow to have a wiper wash reservoir replaced and oil change, no clue how much the first issue will cost but it has to be done and done right, I know it will be done right!! Thank you Vargas!!!
