My 2013 Kia Optima Hybrid died on Fairfax County Pwy and I had the vehicle towed to the Kia dealership in Woodbridge. The dealership explained that I had a faulty safety plug and the plug possibly shorted the upstream modules. The manufacturer installed the wrong fuse for the safety plug and Kia should have issued a vehicle recall for this problem, but I digress. The dealership conducted their diagnostic and recommended replacing the safety plug to the tune of $400. However, the car still didn't start and the dealership recommended replacing the 2 modules for $4,000. I immediately called 3 Star Auto and had my vehicle towed to the shop. Tim diagnosed my car and reprogrammed the modules for $400, yes... $400. The vehicle was back on the road the next day and I've not had any issues with the modules. I explained the correct diagnoses to the dealership and express my extreme dissatisfaction with their unnecessary, expensive remedy. Tim is the most competent, trustworthy mechanic I've come across. Not only do you get impeccable craftsmanship and fair market value for the work, but you get superior customer service and someone who values your patronage. Next time around, I'll tow my vehicle a 1,000 miles.

3 Star Auto is AMAZING! From the time i entered until the time i picked up my second vehicle they were a class act. Customer Service is top notch. The waiting area, restroom, and shop area are neat and clean. Most important to me is the 3 Star Team is HONEST, AND DEPENDABLE. They informed me of ALL issues, not just what i inquired about. They did not start any work until i made my decision based on the 3 Star diagnostic. All issues were discussed in detail and they patiently answered all my questions. The approved work was done right the first time in an a timely manner. In my opinion they are closer to a 4.5 team.

This review is about Mr Rod Tru. Rod The Locksmith, came to the home of my relative on a late rainy night due to an emergency call that was placed for entry into the home. He showed exceptional professionalism, dedication and compassion to complete this task. He worked late into the night on the call and even came back the following morning to follow up with the family and provide us with keys. This type of work ethic is a lost art. I thank God that he was able to help us that night. I definately recommend him for ANY of your locksmith needs.

First of all, i do not typically take my time to write reviews.... that being said, I am writing this review because of the ease of my experience in buying a vehicle from 3 Star and Tim. My experience with Tim was very simple, NO pressure, and super easy to work with. He was extremely accommodating, helpful and understanding. He allowed me to have the vehicle inspected by a mechanic of my choice, agreed to make a replacement of an item on the vehicle, and is also very well known and respected in the mechanic field in the local area. I had an issue with the aftermarket alarm/remote start system, that I was not familiar with. I pushed too many buttons and somehow tampered with the programming. Tim came out to my RESIDENCE to try and assist me with fixing it, on his OWN TIME, in the rain! That's customer service folks! I recommend Tim and 3 Star to anyone who wants honesty, respect and great service. It made purchasing a car very simple.

To me, it starts with communication, and Carla and Tim (the owners) are extremely polite and operate their shop with a wonderful attitude. I had never been to 3 Star Auto before, and have had 3 vehicles serviced there within the last two weeks. They take the time to speak with you, and keep you updated along the way with fast, quality service. I prefer to deal with quality people, not just a quality business. Here you get both. Today I went in to three Star Auto for an alignment. immediately after entering i was greeted and offered a drink and snack, I felt very welcome. Everyone i talked to was very friendly and easy going. the mechanic Tim was more than happy to take me into the bay and show me what he was working on and explain an issue to me. Not only did he do an exceptional job but he did it for a great price to which is rare in this industry. the staff and service was some of the best i have experienced. I will definitely be returning to Three Star the next time i need service done to my car. I recommend them highly for any auto repair you need done.

If you don't want to know the truth about your car, this is not the place for you! There are so many unusually wonderful things to mention about this shop that I am not certain where to begin. I am a stickler for cleanliness, so let me start by saying this facility is extremely clean! The professionalism of Tim and his staff is superb. Since my first visit, I am always sent thank you emails and updates of my next service appointment. I love their attention to detail. However, of everything else, what impresses me the most about 3 Star Auto is his knowledge and willingness to share it. Tim is quick to pull you in the (clean) bay to show you exactly what issues your car is experiencing. As a women who likes to be in the know, I find this rather refreshing and it increases your level of comfort and trust about the service(s) you are receiving. Tim wants his clients to be aware and most importantly safe. I believe they live by their motto "We work hard to keep you running!" They absolutely do!!! I LOVE 3 STAR AUTO!!!

This auto shop is great! They treat you so well and are very down to earth. They work hard to get you great prices and they are honest workers! This place was recommended to us by a neighbor, and we are so glad we chose to use this shop! We have been a couple of times now and they are very accommodating. We are somewhat new to the area and have had a hard time finding a mechanic shop to use, but definitely found our new mechanic!

Tim and his team over at 3 Star Auto Repair LLC were awesome to work with. I had purchased the Terrain from Tim a few months this earlier and he said if I use his shop for repairs he'll make sure I'm taken care of. I called him up and asked if his garage would preform a GMC Terrain Timing Chain repair as mine was starting to slip. They provided me a quote for parts and labor. (This quote was less than other garages and especially the GMC/Chevrolet dealerships in the area). I accepted the quote and had a 3rd party towing company drop off my car. I contacted Tim the next day and he provided me the time line of repairs. They discover not only was the timing chain bad, but the engine oil had gasoline in it causing it to thin out, which lead them to the Fuel Injectors being bad and then to my ECM unit that controls all the electronics in the car. Which they suspect is why the timing chain went bad. Before doing any additional repairs they called me to explain the situation. I had recently changed out my fuel injectors, so they worked with me and the part store to get them warrantied replaced. The ECM, they had one on the lot. They did the swap, reprogrammed and went through the relearning process. Now the vehicle runs like a champ and has a new lease on life! I would highly recommend their garage. 👍

Great experience! Everything was done very quickly, and the price was much lower than the dealership. Tim was able to fit me in without an appointment, perform computer diagnostics and a reflash — something no one else in the area could do, and he also gave helpful advice.
