AAMCO’s customer service on 5th St S in Sr. Petersburg is outstanding. G got all of my information and had an estimate to rebuild my transmission by the next business day. I was able to use synchrony to finance the work. They had to order five parts, so the price for the rebuild went up. They told me that the car would be ready by Monday, but I did not get a call back that day [the reason for the 4 stars instead of 5]. That was disappointing. I called them on Tuesday and the manager, Austin, told me that they had to order some struts from Ford to mount the transmission and that is why the car was not ready on Monday. They came in on Tuesday and they mounted the transmission. AAMCO test drove the car, and the gears were still slipping. Manager Austin told me that they could not let me pick-up the car this way. They called me on Thursday with the good news that it was ready for me to pick-up. Austin was so professional and explained everything so well. He was outstanding!

Let me start out by saying that these gentle are the real deal! If I could give five more stars I would! Austin was very professional, knowledgeable and committed to helping with resolving the issue on my truck (2006 fx35 )in a timely manner! His communication is TOP TIER! I dropped my truck off on Monday 4-7-25 before they closed and I’m riding nice and smooth on Friday 4-11-25 with a rebuilt transmission! Don’t second guess yourself if you’ve considered bringing your vehicle to this establishment! JUST DO IT!!! He and his crew are awesome. They’ve gained a new customer! Thanks guys from me and my family😉

Very happy with work done. These are newer owners and are legit, friendly and concerned about making their customer happy. They explained things clearly. I was not expecting the work on my Wrangler to be done the same day as I took it in. I was pleasantly surprised. I feel the cost was within reason and they did a few things at a discount and one thing free. I also asked for an estimate on a transmission issue and they gave me two different ways of addressing the problem. I appreciated the info. All in all...I recommend these guys...and I trust them.

Austin was fantastic and he has phenomenal service! I had a transmission issue ( never had one before) as I explained to him what I experience while driving he was able to finish my words .. I’m very grateful for that as having car trouble is scary especially when you don’t understand cars like me! Also the service was top notch he called when he said he would, gave me an estimate and my car was fixed within 1 day it went so smooth and easy! The best experience actually! I decided to go with them and this was the second shop I visited and I knew. They did a great job on my transmission and my A/C. Called to make an appointment to have my Transmission serviced, like and oil change on a car. I explained to G that I already know the problem tranie is no good, just need to get it car back to Virginia is not worth the repair cost. My Mechanic said Changing the fluids and filter and do not flus will buy me some time and should be able to get home. G stated that he still would like to check everything out. I had no issue with that and welcomed it to confirm problem. The next day G calls me and tells me fluid is half quarte low and has a milkieness as well, this is causing to run hot. You need a new or rebuilt transmission. then tries to sell me the job to repair for less than 5 thousand with 800 discount. I told him I will pay for your service to confirm, now I just want to change Fluids and filter don't flushed while everything is open due to your inspection. G refused to change because I would not except him doing the rebuild. I asked him to at least add half quarte. again he refused, claiming he don't do business like that. I told him he would not be responsible for anything to the car just need fluids changed. G still refused Never the less picked up car paid 135 for their lack of service. Packed up and drove home to Virginia made it safely even without out him changing. Don't trust them scammers.

HEADER: EXPERT TECHNICIAN Dear AAMCO, Near the end of 2025 I brought my black Honda Odyssey 2007 EX-L in to be diagnosed for an oil leak. You gave me a diagnosis of Leaky valve covers, front main seal, and oil pan, and stated my rear bank of spark plugs is losing compression and submersed in oil. I partly overhauled the engine myself. I did the front main seal it had a minor leak. It was actually the oil filter housing gasket right next to it causing major oil loss. You correctly stated I do not have a rear main seal leak; it was the VTEC solenoid gasket. You correctly diagnosed the valve covers and rings. My entire rear bank of spark plugs was indeed submersed in oil. I replaced those and all 6 coil packs. I also followed your recommendations to replace the timing belt, water pump, and tensioner, though they did not seem very worn. The vehicle was slightly out of time. Although I did not have the money to use AAMCO with the repairs or replacement of my 189,000 mile engine, I used your expertise to fix the problem myself, with dad. Thank you for your service. I will trust your company and its mechanics in the future and I recommend this location to all my friends and family! The car is running like a new car off the Honda lot so far! PS - AAMCO honored their warranty a different visit, when my Transmission Range Sensor (neutral safety switch) failed without any hassles or hidden charges with same day service. They found this original problem when my personal OBDII code scanner did not detect it. Excellent!

The customer service manager Austin Fields was extremely helpful. I came in without an appointment and he got me in. Got the work done quickly. They were upfront and knowledgeable about their work. They did a thorough check on my car. Helped me realize what was most important about what actually needed to be fixed and what was a priority so I can spread the repairs out over time. And taught me some things about my car that I didn’t even know. Overall they were honest got the work done in a timely manner and managed to work me into their busy schedule I have a 2003 Ford Taurus and they did a great job! I will definitely be back and will use them for anything in the future and would recommend them to anyone living in the St Pete area. Thanks Austin your the man!!!
