This is an amazing place, with amazing service and amazing customer service. I am a single mom who had my transmission looked at and unfortunately couldn't pay for it, but they were amazing at letting me leave my car there till I could get it towed back. My 2016 Subaru Outback started throwing codes, warning signs, and the transmission light. All this while disabling my safety features. After getting a 200$ diagnostic and large dollar quotes from Saturn I asked about a second opinion. Saturn's now have a CVT transmission that most places are not qualified to fix. All the places suggested going to ABC Transmission. Since the 60s ABC Transmission has been doing diagnostics for free, a Huge surprise to me. A pleasant one. After that we discussed solutions and set a time to get my car fixed. The recommended was a Valve Body and a Torque Converter replacement. The hope that the Valve Body would give us time to fix the torque, and space out costs. My car disagreed with the plan, lile the bougie lady she is, and ABC not only made time to get the remainder of the work done, but fit it in amongst a VERY BUSY schedule. I can NOT thank ABC and Shawn so much for all their hard work, time, and communication. I recommended them above all others! As does most of NW Washington! Kellie

I took my truck in to get looked at, after 3 days they told me they confirmed the issue was an internal transmission issue and quoted 4500-5500 to rebuild (mind you i looked up the parts $700.) I took the truck back and found the issue myself within 30 mins. TV cable had seized, 10 mins and $60 later. They are a professional money grab scheme and would stay away. Update: TV cable installed, also a large bolt above where it connects was hanging on for its life, tightened so the trans could have proper pressure. Works/shifts better than ever. Clown show at ABC.

I took my car to them for transmission a diagnostic's inspection, which they did for free. I know if no other place that will do that. I decided to sell the vehicle. However, had I decided it was worth fixing, this is definitely where I would have it done.

Watch out for these people. I bought a vehicle from a dealer in Oregon that was having transmission issues and wouldn't back up a hill. They asked me to take it here instead of me doing it or taking to a shop of my choice. The dealer had put in a new transmission. Im a mechanic and I looked at it and knew what the issue was but they said it would be better if a "professional" shop inspected it for warranty reasons. They spoke to Chris and said to bring it in and the inspection would be free. 2 days later someone named David called and said they couldnt figure out the issue during the free inspection and that it would be $300 to dig deeper into it to find the issue. I told them to call the dealer that they were covering it. Days later David calls me and says it needs an new transmission, I asked him what part failed and he said the fluid is low and burnt so that means it needs a transmission. He said he/they dont actually take the pan off and inspect. Lol I already knew the fluid was low but not burnt because I had already checked it. These guys are thieves. They also put a deep scratch in the transmission pan that caused a leak, like I said I already inspected it. They quoted $5,869.52 for a transmission installed. I said hell no and picked it up and took to a shop I was familiar with. They changed the transmission pan the gasket and added fluid that I bought. And the problem was solved. For a total of $447.68. Stay away if you value your money. I'm not sure how you guys can live with yourselves.Trying to scam people like this and not sure how you can have an employee like David, that would try to do this to anybody. Do not let them touch your car. In 2023 a mechanic friend diagnosed my Jeep and I ended up needing a new transmission. I was recommend to go here don’t make my mistake. They charged me $5,652 for a new transmission had my car for WEEKS. Never give you updates you have to call and they all act clueless. Weeks later my car overheats I take it back under warranty and they replace my cooling housing, which I was told is apart of the transmission they just had fixed. Now fast forward I’m 3 weeks over my warranty and transmission fluid is all underneath my car. Was also told all the cables to the cooling housing were dangling down nothing was clipped together. I take it back to abc transmission this week knowing what is wrong with it (mechanic friend diagnosed it) took them over 24 hours to diagnose it after me calling for updates and they originally would charge $900+ but said they would charge me $589. Mind you my warranty is 3 WEEKS up, It states 24 months and I’m at 24 months and 3 weeks. My Jeep NEVER had transmission issues before and has very low miles. DO NOT bring your vehicles here they’re the worst!!!!!

I was referred to ABC transmission by Jiffy Lube for a possible transmission issue. I dropped my vehicle off and they did not find anything wrong with my transmission. They were very honest did not charge me a penny since there was nothing they could do for me. David was a great communicator checked in with me when he said he would. ABC is such a rare find - growing up in a small town in the '60's, I remember our family mechanic - he was a mechanic in WWII, and could fix anything. He was also the nicest man you'd ever meet, and he was a family friend essentially. I do most medium-sized repairs on all my cars, but replacing a transmission is beyond my available time / tools & possibly skills. Our Town & Country needed a new transmission - not something anyone looks forward to - ABC owner/mechanic is incredibly nice, obviously highly skilled & experienced - kept us current with repair status with frequent phone messaging, & was always available by phone if needed. He remembered my name every time we came in. A new transmission would have been too expensive, so they ordered a used one - he assured me that they would send it back if it didn't seem right. After a great repair, the alignment of the car was different - I brought it back, & they sent it to an alignment shop - no charge to me. Everything is perfect, and I feel that I got the best price & value possible. I can't remember if I've ever had such confidence in a repair shop since I was a kid, going with my Dad to Ray Fundum's garage in Nebraska. My advice - don't hesitate - nobody likes the expense of repairs, but you couldn't ask for better service. Treat them kindly - they will look out for your best interests as well. You don't have to think twice about whether or not they will do their very best. A rare & very valuable local shop. Thanks ABC!

$4,626 for a rebuilt transmission — honestly, the best money I’ve ever spent on a car. Here’s the story: I have a 2016 Chrysler Pacifica that’s fully loaded, but it’s getting older. More importantly, it’s a handicap-accessible van for my daughter who has cerebral palsy. New, it was about $65K — and now comparable vans are well over $90K — so when the transmission blew about 10 days ago, I was beyond bummed. I needed to get back on the road fast. I called around and a bunch of garages and “trendy” places kept telling me I needed a brand-new transmission (and quoting numbers that made me choke, ok tear up a bit). Then I found ABC Transmission — and it was a completely different experience. They work on everything from 60’s muscle cars to Honda Civics. They only do transmissions, and they’ve been doing it for over 15 years, right in the same location on South Tacoma Way. They fit me in, installed a rebuilt transmission, and had my van ready by the end of the week. When I picked it up, it was washed, cleaned, and even filled up with gas — the kind of top-notch service dealers used to provide. These days, dealers tend to delay repairs and push you toward something new (been there, done that). So yes — it was more money than I wanted to spend. But it was absolutely the best money I’ve ever spent on fixing a car fast. So if you need training work save yourself some time and get the ABC Transmission on South Tacoma Way
