Ron's kindness and attention to detail may have saved me from a major accident as I was passing through town, and I can't thank him enough for taking the time to help me! These guys are honest, approachable, experienced, genuine, home-grown, kindhearted people. If I ever end up living in Santa Cruz, they'll have my business for life. 10/10! •••••••• Context: ••••••• I was on my way back home to Tahoe City through Santa Cruz after a road trip, and started hearing some ungodly crunching noises from my front axle. Having had some work done on one of my front bearings at a tire/auto-repair chain in Texas while I was on the road, I first returned to another location of that chain's business to have them evaluate the noise. Without getting the car on a lift, a tech told me that the noise I heard was "probably your link pins, a common problem. They could fall off and it wouldn't hurt the car. You should just drive back to Tahoe." I left that lot smelling foul (and hearing a lot of noise) and started looking for the most reliable shop in town who might be able to give me a better understanding of what was going on. I called Advanced Auto and explained that I was trying to get home but wanted to do so safely, and Ron agreed to take my car for a test drive immediately despite being quite busy in the shop. We drove, and Ron was so concerned about the quality of the crunching noise that he threw my car on a lift to diagnose the issue himself. It turned out that a bolt was missing from my passenger side caliper -- a small piece that can cause major issues while driving if improperly installed, let alone missing entirely. Ron fit another bolt, said "this will get you home" and sent me on my way. I haven't had any issues since, and made it back in one piece. Had I listened to the original shop I went to, I could have found myself in serious trouble. Thank you Ron! You guys are the best.

Fair prices, and great work!! They always do an excellent job fixing my car!! Very happy with Advanced Auto, it's the only place I bring my vehicles. *I just wanted to add that Ron ALWAYS knows what's wrong with my vehicle as soon as he looks at it! I've never met anyone as knowledgeable as he is when it comes to auto care! Exceptional service! And I've had many different cars throughout the years, from Toyotas, GMCs, Volkswagens, now I have a 2013 Ford Explorer Police Interceptor - and he's always able to figure out what's going on and how to fix it in the quickest, most reasonably priced way possible!! I can't say enough about Advanced Auto... I wouldn't bring my car anywhere else! If you want to avoid shady mechanics trying to gouge you on prices or unneeded services just to make an extra buck, this is the place to go!!

This has been my "go to" place for years. Ron is always stressed over getting the repairs done quickly and correctly. I have a 2000 4Runner, a 2011 Toyota Sequoia, and a 2021 Mercedes. He knows them inside and out from changing an ignition key to a cracked head gasket and a bunch of mysterious problems in between. I trust him to get that 4Runner to 500,000 miles. On 275,000 now. Already past the moon.

We took our 2014 Kia Optima to Ron to get a second opinion/price quote after the Kia Dealership quoted us $6000 for a repair! Ron was very thorough looking up parts and then having 2 Welders look at our issue. One of the welders decided the issue could be fixed by simply welding the crack instead of replacing that part! After 1 day in the shop our total bill was $230 out the door and our little one even got a antique toy car!!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND Ron and his amazing stuff for any car related issues!

Very unorganized business. No scheduling per se. Over promises. Made an appointment 2 days in advance. When I showed up on time I was told he was so busy he didnt know when he could get to me. I asked for an estimat on a job i was told he was busy and he asked me to call him back in an hour. I decided to email him.I never heard back. I wrote him and withdrew as a future customer.

Ron saved the day! We were driving through on a road trip when we started having car troubles. We called around and Ron was the only mechanic who was able to look at it right away. He diagnosed the issue, gave us a quote, and even arranged a ride to the car rental so we could continue our road trip down the coast. We dropped the car off with him Friday and he had it ready for us on Monday to drive back home.
