I just got my 2004 Convertible VW Beetle serviced here and it was a great experience. I worked with Julian who was very good at explaining everything and keeping me updated on my car. My car was fixed quickly and is now working great. I feel better knowing my car is in the hands of people who know what they're doing. Would recommend.

Terrible service every time. If you need a repair expect it to take 3 days every time despite the simplicity of the issue. (Oh and they won’t give you a loaner car). This has happened every time I’ve gone. I only went back because the warranty covered an otherwise very expensive fix. If your car is past its warranty or needs a fix that won’t be covered- find somewhere else. Took 2 days to diagnose an issue and call me. They send you a web link to monitor the status of your car that doesn’t work or is never updated. Can’t get the rep to call me back. They overbook and will stop work on your car for a “quick fix” customer. Can’t get into the service area because it’s packed with cars. Absolutely horrible. Hate this place.

My new Taos turned off while I was in the middle of an intersection. Got it running and promptly called Alexandria VW. I’m rating Jeremy Perez, my Service Advisor, for his excellent customer service from the initial phone call to vehicle pickup! He got me in quickly, had a loaner ready (full tank of gas ⛽️) and had my car ready (and washed) in less than two days. Jeremy is knowledgeable, takes time with his customers and is super pleasant to work with!

There's a reason this place only has 3 Stars... Every once in a while I give these guys a chance again out of the ease of access with their location to my house. Every single time they show me why I stop using them. The price markup is laughable for their services. The professional engagement you would expect from a certified service center is extremely disappointing. Finally, the promptness and customer service is nearly non-existent and there is no accountability for their incompetence. The worst experience I have had with them was the time I brought in my 2014 VW TDI Sportwagen for what I suspected was a bad alternator. Upon dropping the car off with them and providing a detailed timeline and description of the things I had done to come to this conclusion I was provided with a turnaround of 2 hours and that I should receive a call around lunchtime. When I called after lunch when I did not hear from them, I was told they just pulled it in the bay and I should receive a call soon. I was called an hour later telling me the car was good to go and the alternator was fine and there were no issues. I explained that this did not make sense and I really suggested they check the alternator again. They said they would pull it back in and make sure. I called back an hour later after not hearing from them and they reiterated the car was fine and ready to be picked up. When I showed up at the dealer i as met outside by the service rep and was apologized to and told the alternator was in fact bad and needed to be replaced. This was apparently going to be an additional two day wait since they needed to get a replacement alternator. The price was quoted to be $1919.23 for a service that other local shops charged $900 for. I explained that I had a problem with the price and debated this with the service rep, but decided to leave the car with them while they checked to see if they could do anything about the price due to their error while I looked into other options. I received a call the next day stating that the price was firm. With that information, I contacted other service stations in my area to arrange an appointment, which I did. I told Volkswagen that I did not want them to provide the service at that cost and I would come pick up my car. Just prior to planning on going to pick up the car after work, I received another call from the service department to see if I was still going to come pick up the car and I reiterated that I was going to come soon. I then received a call about 15 minutes later stating that the work had already been done and that I had to pay before I could pick up my car. I dealt with Mike Welch who is the Service and Parts Director for Volkswagen Alexandria and he essentially extorted me to pay and pick up my car with the understanding that he would work with me to make it right. This was a lie. After a phone call and a follow-up email which he never even responded to, I am done with this business. The multiple miscommunications between the service department show how uninformed, disconnected and incompetent this service department was the entirety of the three days my vehicle was in their care. I was provided a different narrative throughout those three days and most of all I am very displeased with the fact that I was made to pay for a service I disagreed with- especially after VW acknowledged multiple times that it had not been started Take your car anywhere but here. They are horrible.

This review is for Alexandria Volkswagen's service center, and mainly the front desk staffs that were dishonest and rude. They are made of the most incompetent and unethical people out there in the world. While visiting my friend in VA, my VW had a misfire and was towed to this vw service center for repair. It was the start of the worst service experience i have ever encountered. The front desks were a bunch of unprofessional low skilled workers who have no knowledge about VW cars. Their attitude and work ethic was lazy and dishonest. It took them a day to diagnose my issue and told me on the phone that my car have three different issues including carbon buildup, bad spark plug and a nonsensical turbo oil leak. The total quote to repair the simple misfire was over $3,000. Of course, I called my own VW service center back in New York where I conducted all my recommended services for a second opinion, and I was told that based on my service record only an easy ignition coil change was necessary. So I politely called back Alexandria VW and told them VW of Manhattan's opinion and declined their $3,000 repair service over the phone. Once they heard I wasn't going to let them scam my money, the rude front desk hung up the phone before i even finished talking. The best part was after I paid them the $150 diagnose fee, I found that their mechanic also indicated that only a bad ignition coil and carbon build up were causing the misfire. He mentioned nothing about spark plugs or turbo oil leaks. So basically the front desk made up additional repairs to con people's money. Anyway, I drove my misfired car to another mechanic shop literally 2 mins away from this place and got everything fixed for under $300 total. The whole Alexandria VW Service department needs a retraining program badly or they need to hire a better HR to filter out those lazy and dishonest front desk workers that makes VW look bad.

I have a vehicle under warranty and I brought it in for recalls and explained to them that I had been smelling coolant almost since I bought the car brand new. I was told that “If the smell is not covered under warranty then I would be charged a diagnostic fee!” They ran test to see if there was a leak or some sort and it came back negative and My vehicle that is still under warranty was charged a fee of $175 to check. I spoke to multiple VW dealerships and was told that because I was still under warranty and if it was just a simple pressure test then I should have been chargers. Also that each dealership is franchise owned and operate different! I still smell coolant upon starting and idling for a while. This is absolutely bad business! I called for the service manager and told the front destination who I am and nobody ever picks up the phone for me.

I tried calling this place a number of times to no avail. so I made an appointment and shared details about what was wrong when scheduling the appointment online. The car was drivable but unsafe (airbag was disengaged) while in Ohio so we ended up going to an independent mechanic to get it fixed. The mechanic changed the part and told us it was under an extended warranty due to a faulty part. I needed this dealer to check why the cruise control was not working and mentioned it was due to the faulty part and they refused to work on the car because a genuine VW dealer did not perform the previous work. The service advisor then wanted to reschedule my service for a later time because it was a Saturday and they only do oil changes on a Saturday.

Very bad experience with service department. They refused to do my free oil change that was included with car purchase with nonsense excuse that the car hasn’t reached 10000 miles from last oil change and they asked me to pay for it . My right is to do and use the free oil change whenever I decide to do it . After visiting so many VW dealerships and serving so many VW’s in the last 3 years this is the first time I am hearing something like this . Also when I used to do the oil changes before they wouldn’t tighten the oil pan screw few times in a row on different cars and the oil would leak . Definitely my last visit and if you can find VW elsewhere just Avoid this VW service location

I made an appointment with this location after moving to the area. The maintenance notification has come on in my 2019 Jetta for an oil change and I thought this was in error considering I recently got an oil change and had not reached the mileage/time period for another. My appointment was with Ayana. One of her colleagues checked me in and was very cordial. Once I was able to speak to her, the experience went downhill. First, before greetings or addressing the reason for my visit, she told me that my vehicle required a $300+ service at its mileage. Fortunately, I knew this was not true because I had recently been to my former dealership and the was told the service was not warranted yet. Furthermore, having shopped around in anticipation for this service, this was a significant up-charge. I declined and redirected the conversation to my oil change. When I mentioned that I got my last oil change a few months back and had not reached ~5,000-10k miles for the next, she pushed back and said I was lying about getting an oil change because her records showed that my last oil change was a few years ago and wasn’t going to authorized dealerships. Naturally, I showed her the receipts. At this point, her voice was getting louder and she acted like I was inconveniencing her. This was of course in front of a room full of other customers. The resolution was that they reset my maintenance light because the previous dealership forgot to do so when they serviced my car. I hate to leave bad reviews but this was beyond unprofessional behavior. Moral of the story, come prepared if you service at this location otherwise you may walk out with a heftier fee than planned and unnecessary services.

Horrible. Never experienced this with a DEALERSHIP SERVICE CENTER. Absolutely horrible. Unless you want your "express oil change" to take 5-6 hours I suggest to take your car somewhere else. I had an APPOINTMENT just so I could be prepared to have my car back in good time, But appointments nowadays are only beneficial to businesses and not the customers. Horrible communication (meaning none whatsoever), disorganized overcrowded lot and rude employees. When I complained about my oil change taking 5 & 1/2 hours long one of the employees said "so take it to jiffy lube across the street. They use the same oil." Never going back. I'd rather drive farther out. EDIT AFTER REPLY: I don't use my name on Google for privacy reasons. There's no need to look into my appointment. Ask Jeremy about what happened with my 2019 Jetta.

Easy one star for dishonesty and shady charges. I came in here for an oil change on 1/9/23 after scheduling my oil change online, using their $79.95 oil change coupon that they have on their website. After coming in and dropping my car off, I asked the gentleman at the front desk how much is it going to be. The amount he told me was about $125. After showing him my phone and the coupon on it, I told him that I had scheduled my service using the “schedule” button that is right on the top of the coupon and he said that he will change the price and that my car will be ready in about 2 hours. After picking up my car, I was still asked to pay around $125 (can’t remember the exact amount, but it was in that ball park). He showed me a slip of paper saying that the oil change is $79.95 but I have to pay about $45 for “taxes and shop supplies”. Terrible, shady practice. I told him that those charges are bogus, and make no sense, but I did pay for it because I didn’t want to create a scene and was in a rush anyway. Funny thing is, a friend of mine was changing oil on his VW just a week or two before. He tried to use the same coupon when paying, but they said that he had to present the coupon before the service was done and that it’s too late for them to honor it. Guess how much he got charged? Yes, $125. Long story short - these guys will charge you $125 for an oil change regardless, and will not honor a coupon that they advertise on their own website. Don’t plan on ever coming back here. I will rather drive 10 minutes more to the Springfield dealership and get the price advertised on their website.

Today I was able to get my oil changed in less than 45 minutes with the assistance of Robert! He was professional and personal able. He made my yearly visit so smooth, I’ll be back! Also, Jeremy was nice to me as well!

Terrible service! On Friday, I called the service center multiple times—no one even bothered to answer. On Saturday, I had to go there in person. The manager received me, took down all the details, confirmed that they handle this type of work, and scheduled an appointment for Monday so I could bring my car in for an estimate after the accident. On Monday, I arrived, only to be told at the reception that they don’t handle such cases at all! The manager who scheduled my appointment was nowhere to be found—either off for the day or simply vanished. The person at reception recognized me but, despite knowing the service wasn’t suitable for me, didn’t say anything on Saturday and didn’t even bother to apologize now. Complete disregard for the customer! As a result, I had to take my car back home again, even though its condition is far from normal. Thanks for wasting my time and nerves! Total disorganization, lack of responsibility, and basic respect for customers.

They are going to recommend fixes that are appropriate, but then scalp you for hundreds if not thousands of dollars more for the cost beyond what is reasonable. Had a quote for fixing part of the engine and agreed to it, but then after a quick google search, found that the part they quote as over $400 (not including labor) was max $40 on the VW site. Of course they wouldn't let you budge after the initial agreement. So if you come in for an oil change, it's fine, but make sure to check all the prices before you go through with anything else here.

The oil cap was not properly replaced on my car following an oil change here which resulted in oil squirting all under the hood of my car. We won’t be using this service center anymore because this careless mistake could have cost me the engine of my car.
