Johnny Johnny Johnny! He's like a best friend! These guys are the absolute best!! They moved from their glebe location to here. I was a customer there several times, and the same people are now here. I just went today for 3x TPMS tire sensors, and a rear brake job. Probably half the cost of the dealer since they are honest and dont price gouge you! Theyve also told me to hold off on work that the dealership "TOLD ME" needed to be done! More like stealership! Im glad i can trust these guys! 2025 Update! Its been a few years since my last update, but nothing has changed! Still excellent service! I now bring my "new to me" 2013 Volvo XC90

I've taken several vehicles here over the years and have always found this shop very competent and, equally important, honest. It's rare to feel reassured when you bring your car in for repairs; half the time, you're bracing to be ripped off. That's not the case here. And in fact, once they've fixed whatever needs fixing, they've often taken care of small issues (e.g., random rattles) without asking and at no added charge. I almost never do reviews, but I'll make an exception here. I highly recommend them.

Have taken my 2004 Honda Accord sedan here twice and will do so again the next time it needs work. It’s not the luxurious experience you would get going to a dealer, but if you just need to have your car fixed without paying extra for the coffee and air conditioned waiting room with cable TV, call and talk to Johnny. My last visit to have brake work done they found some other things that needed attention and I was provided with multiple options and a range of costs for how the immediate issues could be addressed. He did mention that otherwise the car was in great shape for it’s age and that I must do the regular maintenance (oil and lube) because he saw no issues with the engine or anything else, even when I mentioned the big upcoming trip in my near future. Had a chat with another customer in the waiting area who has been coming back to Japanese Auto City for years. I’ve finally found my mechanic!

Johnny is service oriented and easy to deal with. He is just not that good a mechanic. I took my car to him for a vibration in the front end. The first time he told me my tires were new and it would go away....it did not. The next time he replaced my break rotors for over 500 bucks and it still didn't fix the problem. He clearly didn't road test the car. When I called to complain he told me to bring it in again and he would take care of it. It is eight miles from my residence to his shop. It's the DMV...took me an hour to get home from his shop. I'm dumb but not stupid. Won't be using him again. If your close to his shop, you can use him for basic maintenance. However, if your looking for in depth diagnostics, go elsewhere. Not a very professional operation. Shop is shabby, no used parts, just not good and I really wanted it to be.

Johnny is a saint! We were told our Subaru was due for a 60k service by another shop before moving to VA, but he was honest and said we didn’t need certain services for “another 20k miles.” Then today, the check engine light popped on and he was able to get it looked at within minutes of me calling. He’s honest, hardworking, and very fairly priced! I highly recommend him, 10/10.

Johnny, in particular, has been excellent with my car maintenance and service checks. One time, I told him I was informed from a previous mechanic that a part on my vehicle needed replaced, and Johnny assured me that they were in good condition. I appreciate that he doesn’t try to upsell me on unnecessary services.

If you have a Subaru, as I do....there is no better place than Japanese Auto City!!! I LOVE my 2012 Legacy and when my baby needed a new radiator and the engine re-built, Johnny and his team did a great job!!! I can trust Johnny to provide accurate assessment of work needed without unnecessary extras. When I drive away I can be confident work was done well and as promised. Costs are totally reasonable and competitive. If an unanticipated problem comes up Johnny and his team will interrupt regular work to help.
