American Automotive was recommended by Southern Motor Company & I will continue to pass on the recommendation. Dylan got me in the next day to check out a sensor & fixed it quickly. While sitting in the waiting area, several people came in with questions about their vehicles, but weren't there for service. Dylan addressed each client as if they were paying & suggested solutions for each. I was recommended this mechanic by family and went in to get an oil change and look over my car before a big trip. They were very knowledgeable and helpful. Honest and genuine family run business. Dillon is usually who we talk to But we’ve had the chance to meet his dad, tom too. We have taken our vehicles to other places Because of the mechanic being in a close distance to where our vehicle was- But we are now realizing American automotive is always worth the drive. Other mechanics will say we need thousands $ of work done- Dillon can always diagnose the issue and get it fixed asap & A fraction of the price. Usually Dillon will come back and find the real issue while other mechanics find a Band-Aid for the issue & then try to get us for more money. I was told (by one of those corporate franchise “stay in your car” oil change places) that I needed a coolant flush, so when I came to get the flush was surprised when they told me I now had a coolant leak and they could not work on my car. I called Dillon who was kind and helpful and came highly recommended. Dillon was able work on my car the very next day, did pressure testing and figured out that there is NO leak. He called me back an hour after dropping it off to let me know they were done. Quick service. Friendly techs. Fair pricing. Very honest and never tried to sell me anything. These men are truly mechanics and not salesmen, which was much appreciated. I will definitely be getting my auto work done locally from now on and would recommend Dillon and his shop to anyone in the Charleston area.

Helped out my 73 after I did some of my own shade tree mechanics involving a hack at my passenger side exhaust. Calhoun worked to outlet the exact image in our minds, did his own research on the original look and told me when he didn't want his name on my initial idea. Our dealership uses American Automotive as one of our service center for our preowned inventory. It is hard to find an honest, reputable shop that is not going to try and "sell" a bunch of service that does not need to be performed. The quality of work is excellent and everything gets handled in a timely manner. This shop stays busy for a reason - they are good at what they do! If something is taking a little longer to complete, they are great at keeping open levels of communication. We cannot say enough good things about American Automotive!

Good afternoon In times of frustration that your car broke down and you have no idea who to trust or where to take your car please consider American Automotive. My wife’s 2015 Buick Enclave had been giving us a fit, then finally just quit working. So a friend recommended we take it to American, saying he dies good honest work for a very fair price, which is extremely rare in this day and time. Well we dropped it off and he called the next day saying it was ready to be picked up. Needless to say it was not that easy of a repair and it became a bear to fix but Dillon and his team kept after it until it was 100% resolved. It was an absolute pleasure working with him, and we will definitely be bringing more vehicles back to American automotive. I highly recommend their service

One day my truck broke down as I was in the middle of my work day. Since I was stranded in West Ashley, I gave American Automotive a call. I described the problem to them, and they stayed on the phone with me to try and solve the problem. When the problem could not be solved over the phone, the Owner of the shop actually came out to me to solve the problem - and he did! He got my truck up and running in no time, and I was able to finish my work day. He truely saved the day. It's clear that the Owner and Employees at American Auto love cars and trucks, and I think that's why they are so good at what they do, and why they care about helping their customers. Whether I need major mechanical repair or just an oil change, I will be going to American Automotive, and I will be encouraging everyone I know to do the same. You guys are awesome. Thank you!

I bought a classic, 30 year old van. I took it to AA for service. Dillon and his team are top notch! I’m a female. Dillon would take the time to explain the issue to me, what he would do to repair it, and why! Even more shocking? The price!! He was very fair, reasonable and affordable!!
