★★★★★ I had two problems that required immediate attention on my 1999 GMC Suburban K1500: 1) spongy brakes and 2) Overheating/No heat. The source of both problems was quickly diagnosed and the projected costs relayed to me. The overheating problem was resolved by replacing the temperature sensor and thermostat -- no bogus water pump replacement, something that unscrupulous shops might have claimed. During testing of the brake repair, it was discovered that I needed one brake line and the master cylinder replaced. (I wouldn't have batted an eyelash if I'd been told that several lines had been replaced. Again, an indication of their dedication to honesty.) I am thankful that this was detected and the proper replacements made, since this is a safety concern. I was able to test drive the vehicle with the mechanic, which was a nice touch. He clearly took pride in his work and cared about my satisfaction. All repairs were explained thoroughly and completely. I found the amount charged to be competitive (if not low) compared to what one would expect. I highly recommend Superior Auto Service on Rice Street in Maplewood to anybody seeking an honest, capable mechanic.
