I was badly in need of a tire. The sidewalls had bubbles upon bubbles. So I was looking for something, anything cheap new or used. I Google tires for sale in Honolulu. Auto Customs was the first to catch my eyes. Waikamilo just about a minute ride from my house. I asked if the have the size tire I needed and cheap if possible. Told me the price and I was sold. If you don't know Waikamilo or better yet Meg's Drive in then you may not find this place excellent staff, excellent service will recommend to all

First off, if you want a fast overview of PROS and CONS for this shop skip to the bottom of this review. This was my first time to this shop and it won't be my last. I Came to this shop to have my own mud terrain tires installed. Mistakenly I had scheduled an appointment @ another shop to have my tires changed the day before. When I got to auto customs I spoke to the owner and to one of his guys Jeff. I told them I had called the day before and set an appointment with them @ 3 and that I talked to one of their employees but forgot his name. Well I wasn't on their appointment schedule so I thought that wasn't right. I drove all the way down from ewa to get to this place, just to find out my appointment wasn't set! 😡 They showed me their caller Id log of yesterday and asked me if my number was on the call list and it was not. After finally realizing that I came to the wrong shop ( *checked my call log on my phone and their number was not the number called the day before) I felt like a fool and apologized. They where cool about it and assured me that they wouldn't set an appointment for someone and not write it down because that wouldn't be right. Their work schedule for the day was loaded and I thought that they would tell me to just schedule an appointment for another time because there is no way they could accommodate me. But to my surprise Jeff told me that If I wanted to wait he could try to work me in to their tight schedule which they did. Although I had to wait 30 minutes due to other appointments they had me out of their @ 5. They did a clean and quality install of my m/t tires and I like the fact that they didn't rush it. They took the time to do the job well. I'm a mechanic by trade and you can see the proffesionalism and skill in little things like how they positioned and raised the truck on the lift, how they dismounted the old tires and mounted the new tires. To balance, They did a dynamic balance and used stick on weights which they hid behind the spokes where ever possible to make it less visible vs using the pound on style that clamps to the edge of the rim. They used electric impact wrenches to install the wheels and torqued them to factory specs. They even set the tires air pressure to the tire recommended specs. Let's put it this way, if I could of done it myself I would have done it the way they did it! And what I paid was less than what I expected considering the awesome job they did and the service I received. I highly recommend this shop to everyone. Go and see Jeff as he "will" take care of you and your ride. Major props to their technicians working behind the scenes. Your skills and proffesionalism is not going unnoticed. If you are looking for a place to really take care of your automotive wheels tires and accessories don't compromise. Make an appointment to see these guys, you'll be glad you did. There work speaks for themselves. PROS- - a.c. show room and lounge area - large lounge area with comfortable seating - excellent customer service - professional skilled techs - quality work - reasonable and competitive prices - helpful, knowledgeable and experienced staff. - good selection of rims, tires and all types of. automotive accessories. - If they don't have it They can order it - close to megs drive in.( good eats) CONS- - hard to see shop from the roadway(waikamilo)

Really appreciate the time they spent to sit down with me and find the wheels I liked, comfortably with no pressure... Very communicative, to even last detail of what I wanted. Also took good care of my car while it was in there hands. Definitely a go to shop if your looking to upgrade.

I set up an appointment to do some work on my car on a Saturday, however 2 days before I got a call saying my 25 year old sister had passed away. With everything going on I forgot to cancel the appointment. I got a call that Saturday from one of the employees asking where I was, I told him I was sorry I forgot to cancel the appointment and that I had to fly home for a couple weeks. Before I could fully explain the situation I was told I wasted 4 hours of their time and was hung up on. I will never recomended this shop for any auto work that my friends may need done. They were extremely unprofessional and rude.

This shop was a bit pricey for me. It cost $69 for parts and labor to replace a fog light bulb. The lights guy in the back, I think his name is Matt, was extremely nice and knowledgeable. However, the guys in the front office weren't too friendly to me and made me feel like it's because I didn't look like a local. The shop was a tight squeeze, but that's almost every place in Honolulu. I was extremely satisfied with the work that was done for me but was disappointed that there was no military discount. Overall, I would go back to get more work done on my cars.

I've Been getting all of my tires from here for the past 8 years. For all of my trucks, work trucks, and personal Cars. Great service, excellent pricing, and they go the extra mile to make sure your happy on what you got! I recommend on going to the shop to see other services they have. The staff are well knowledge of a wide range of basic needs to custom automotive design and products. If they don't do certain specifications then they know the right people to go to and referrals to top notch places!

I'm sure I was a very "low profile" customer for these guys. I just needed one rim replaced. I had the rim shipped straight to them, they contacted me when it arrived, made an appointment for the next day, and took care of me like I'd just spent $5000 when in reality it was less than $100. If I ever decide to get an entire set of new rims this is the only place on Oahu I'll consider.

Went in to get some work done. They couldn't explain how they would charge for 3 hrs (150) an hour, work on installing a Tesla Deffuser. They said they would have to remove the rear bumper to do the job, hence the amount of time. I told them to Google the install. The install is less than 25 minutes. Had they known there are two plates on the rear bumper to be removed to install the wiring on the defusser they wouod have gotten my business. Instead they played koi and acted as if they didn't know to jack the price up for their service. How can a legit business in the line of work doing automotive installs not know a simple time allotment ? In my opinion, shady business practice. I've had it installed now with an electrician and it took 35 minutes from start to finish. Complete amature hour at this shop.

These guys are awesome. Never felt pressured while shopping for rims, they were able to get me a set they don't usually carry, and customer service was just right. I don't think I'd buy rims and tires feom anyone else after. They just ruined it for everyone else!

I usually go to a different shop but currently he's really busy and wasn't able to take my car for a wheel replacement. So, i looked up and saw Auto Customs. I thought to give it a try and see if they can do a simple job. But now i regret it so bad. They broke my lugnut key and didn't even put a complete set of lug nuts on my front wheels when i have extras in my car and now i have to fix it at home when they told me it's going to take them hours before they can remove it. When i'm not even a professional mechanic and I removed it in less than 25 mins. And the audacity to charge me for it as well is just insane. I brought my car to this shop well working and no problems. And now i have to fix the mess that they did. Which is going to cost me more money. I feel i got scammed by this shop. I don't usually write negative reviews. But this time i can't help it due to my frustration. I don't recommend this shop to anyone and i'm not going back as well. Lesson learned.

If you are ordering tires from Tire Rack and are searching for the best local installer, look no further. Your car will be treated with the utmost of care and attention to detail. Each wheel will be returned to the same corner that it was removed from. The tire pressure will be set to the recommended inflation figures provided by the manufacturer. Both mating faces (on the back of the wheel and on the car) will be cleaned prior to reinstallation. The center caps on each wheel will be properly oriented before the wheels are torqued properly on the ground with a torque wrench. If you need to throw any wheels/tires in your car, they have bags and carry the wheels/tires out to your car for you. Great service is provided by all of the friendly staff members! There’s nowhere else to take your business. For a slight premium in cost over a retail chain, you will receive actual care for your property that you are entrusting to them. Support local businesses who deserve and appreciate your business!

These guys are great. I had to change all 4 tires BADLY. I went in not knowing the size of my aftermarket rims, so they put my car on the lift and figured out what sized tires I needed to run. Jeff then sat with me and figured out which tires I needed for my driving. I went with Nitto NT555 G2s, which they already had a staggered set in stock. The dealership that sold me my car used didnt include the key to the wheel locks, so these guys not only got them off, they didn't damage my rims AND still put 4 new tires on my car in the SAME DAY. They even stayed almost an hour after closing to make sure I was set up. Can't recommend Auto Customs enough. Jeff and his crew are legends.
