I visited Auto Express a few months back when my car started acting up. It had a combination of lights coming on and shaking when I used the brakes. John was very helpful and explained everything clearly. He replaced my rotors and Mass Airflow Sensor in just a day. He was super knowledgeable, patient, and did an amazing job for a great price. I had some wires eaten through by rodents. The place i usually take my cars to quoted 411$ just to look through the electrical system. Called the Ford dealership and was quoted 1100$ just for an electrical system diagnostic. Called John at Auto Express and was told 130$, bring it in. That was with the full system diagnostic. He personally walked me through how he knew it was rats - showed me the droppings, etc., and said it's a persistent problem in Sac. They found a leaky gasket (which i knew i had), fixed the wiring and gasket out the door for 385$. Less than the original diagnostic quote without parts or additional labor! Same day repair took about 3 hours. Highly recommend!

Like many, I found this auto shop while looking for a place to get my car smogged. I now use it for any car issues that come up (oil changes, broken window, broken key fob/lock, A/C maintenance, brake pad replacements) because I really trust the owner and I know he's giving me a fair price and does good work. It's awesome to be able to drop my car here in the morning before work, walk to the office, and then pick it up after work with all the problems fixed! Warning: Google maps will try to tell you to enter the business from Fat Alley, but that will make it hard for you to get to their parking lot. Instead, have your directions route you to 15th and F Street intersection, then you can simply go south on 15th and easily enter the parking lot on the left side of the street (see photo below). I've had trouble with this more times than I can count!

Fast, Cheap, and Thorough! I went in for an oil change, but then brought up another issue another my car needed. I went to a different repair shop, and they estimated me $550 to replace my wheel barring, but Auto Express was able to beat that price at $400. I got an oil change, rear wheel barring replaced, and my car smog tested all within half of a day. Highly recommend, especially for people that are looking for quality mechanics that can explain exactly what your vehicle needs

Folks, take your vehicles to John. He is an honest mechanic that knows his stuff and works on older vehicles and new (something that's becoming increasingly rare). I took my 1994 Ford F250 there because I had failed smog twice at two other smog shops in town. With John being a full service mechanic in addition to a smog test and repair facility, he can do it all. He met with me and we discussed my readings from previous smog fails. I left the truck for the day with John knowing it was in good hands. John called later the same day to tell me that a couple diagnostic tests he ran showed the truck would likely pass if he tested it. I gave him the go ahead and sure enough it passed. John took the time to let me know some other things to address soon but didnt try and sell me anything on the spot. He was great to talk with. Thank you John for taking care of my truck today. You earned a repeat customer for other work I may need done.

When I first moved to sac in 2022, I had a difficult time to find an auto shop for oil change with decent price. I stumbled into this shop, and boy, have I found a gem!!! Back then, I brought in a 2010 Yaris for oil service, owner told me the battery needed to be replaced. I didn’t listen, lo and behold within a week, my car died and I was late to work. Ever since then it’s been my trusted auto shop. I now have a new car, I trust the owner and the shop, so again I bring in my car for routine oil change. Oil change is always efficient, minimal wait time, and good price!!!! The owner is so patient to explain to me how to maintain my new car. He is honest and caring. I learnt that he’s in business for 36 years and counting. I trust this auto shop to provide care for my car and its customers, not about the money, it’s about their passion and commitment. I recommend this auto shop to anyone who wants to find a shop that cares for what you care!

I was calling around for heat shield repair and this place did it quickly and didnt charge alot unlike some places ive called that right away were talking about how it needs replacing and won't be able to be fixed quoting me dealer prices but auto express did it without trying to up the charge. Also was a great price on the smog check that we needed aswell. Would recommend this place over the big brand names where they only see you as a dollar than a person.

They were professional, quick, and answered every question I had, making sure to explain exactly what was going on.
