WOW! I just purchased a Subaru Touring Forester Hybrid from AutoNation and couldn't be happier. My salesman was Matthew, and it's an understatement to say I put him through the paces...and he couldn't have been nicer. The manager, Christy, was so kind, patient, and helpful as well. They are so honest, don't pressure you at all, answer all your questions, and give you all the time you need so that the transaction is a wonderful experience. This is my second Subaru from Carlsbad Subaru. Service department is very efficient and work quickly to get you back on the road. They completed my 3000 mile check in a little over an hour, sent me a video of what the tech checked and my service advisor, Norma, came and found me in the waiting area right away for check out and was thorough in explaining everything. The wait area was comfortable and quiet with plenty of seating and provided free coffee and snacks. I was also able to sit at a cubicle when I needed to plug in my laptop for work.

We just drove 6 hours to purchase a new Crosstrek from this dealership. We dealt with Nathan Young. Nathan was very quick to respond to all of my questions and was the only salesperson who provided me the total out the door price without playing games. The price was significantly less than any of the dealerships in my area. When we arrive to the dealership, the transaction was very efficient and smooth. After a bit of a wait to check in for my service appointment I was seen by Eric who was friendly and kept me updated on my vehicle. It got late and diagnostic was still being performed so the assistant manager introduced himself and offered a loaner .I accepted and was given a new crosstrek which was very nice to drive. Next morning I was sent a video of the inspection with voice explaining what was found and recommendation for repairs. That was impressive too. We have been very disappointed with my experience at Subaru Carlsbad. For over a year, our tire pressure warning light has been perpetually on, on our Crostrek. The tire pressure itself is clearly fine, and the car has been in multiple times for routine maintenance and tune-ups during that period. Despite this, the service department has repeatedly refused to even look at or adjust the issue unless we first pay a $200 diagnostic fee. Not fix it — just look at it. That’s especially frustrating given the car was already in their care for other paid services, where addressing something this basic should not require an additional upfront charge. This feels less like customer service and more like a rigid policy designed to extract fees rather than help customers. A warning light that has been acknowledged repeatedly and is clearly not a tire safety issue should not require a $200 barrier just to reset or evaluate. I expect better from a Subaru dealership and from a service department that claims to stand behind its customers. Unfortunately, this experience has seriously eroded my trust, and I’ll be thinking twice before returning.
