I had a mysterious water leak on passenger floor mat of my Toyota RAV4. Went to FIVE different shops (including a Toyota dealership!). Paid a few hundred dollars for diagnostics, only to have the leak return with each heavy rain. Thankfully, I found Barney’s through another less-than-helpful business. Beyond fixing the issue, they were humble & professional. I came in with printed Toyota enthusiast forum posts to help narrow possible causes. They had no ego about me offering the information. The same was not my experience at other shops. And while the Toyota dealership was happy to take the diagnostic fee, they left my passenger floor soaking wet (said they couldn’t shop vac it) and finished with “we don’t work on water leaks.” What? Barney’s is a family business and it’s obvious they take pride in their work. Totally worth the drive from Gloucester!

Incredible experience all around! You always fear being drug through the mud and being taken advantage of at mechanic shops. Not here - Cory and his guys took care of me, not only taking care of what it was in there for but took time to show me something in process of failing. I've been bringing my cars to Barney's Auto for a few years now and one thing I like most about this shop is that they have integrity. You go to some shops and they want to nickel and dime you for every single thing while providing no transparency and that's not the case here. You get fair treatment and no cost estimates to figure out what issue you have going on with your car. They also specialize in Honda s2000's which is great because a lot of mechanics have no idea what they're doing with certain cars.

I had a problem with my van that Bowditch Ford had been working on for over two years, they never had a fix to fixing any problem I brought to them wasted money like crazy for nothing just getting a run around. Took a chance and went to Barney new too me but took the chance. Chris talked to me brought my van in they were friendly, much more professional than ford. They fit me in on Friday the loud noise for one was belts and pulley 6 months in Ford's shop couldn't figure it out. They also told me my rear differential has corroded oil that was black and another piece that when turning made a loud grinding groan sound another 7 times Ford says there is nothing they can find, Chris found the problem in three days and fixed in the 5th day. They will have my business from now on. finally a place I can trust. Also said my check engine light is from the wrong cat attachment. These men are confident and know what they are doing. Thank guys

This was a bad week to have no heat / no defrost. Had my vehicle towed to Barney’s on Tuesday and they repaired my water pump that the dealer just replaced in October. Needless to say I won’t be back at that dealer and Barney’s is now my preferred shop! When I picked her up, it took very little time for the heat to kick on and the defrost works great! Had some issues with off and on vibration on a truck with 175k miles I recently acquired. Took it to Barney's auto instead of a Ford dealership and it paid off. I wasn't given any BS about unnecessary repairs, but I did get straightforward, accurate, and fast repairs. There was an issue with my 4 wheel drive where the truck was trying to go from 2 wheel to 4 wheel drive while driving which could potentially cause major damage. The repair was affordable and done in a timely manner. I am new to the area but couldn't be more satisfied with my choice to take my truck to Barney's Auto from the work done to the truck, the explanation of the necessary work, the price, and time taken to complete the work was all top notch. I highly recommend you bring your vehicle to their shop for any required maintenance on your automobile. Thanks again guys at Barney's, you've earned 1 more loyal customer and will be taking my truck here again should I have any more issues at it creeps towards 200k miles.

Barney’s Auto was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. I was originally quoted $5,500 by a dealership for the repair. Barney’s quoted me $3,500, and after getting into the job, they realized they didn’t need to use all the parts. They returned the unused parts and ended up charging me only $1,400. That level of honesty and integrity is rare. They could have easily charged the full amount, but they didn’t. Extremely trustworthy, transparent, and professional. I highly recommend Barney’s Auto to anyone looking for honest work at a fair price.
