Very shady business practice. I dropped my truck off because I had a bad coolant leak. I called back in the afternoon to check if they had found the problem and to my surprise not only did they find the problem but they fixed it without my consent. So i paid $190 for a coolant reservoir that I can't find online anywhere for more than $70. I also paid $120 for labor that would have taken my 30-40 minutes of work in my own garage. All of which without even a phone call to ask if it was ok. Very disappointing.

What do you do when you are stuck with a broken down car in Dallas when you are 4 1/2 miles from home? You take your car to Ben's Auto repair! Seriously, I was freaked out that my car broke down and I don't know anything about Dallas. I looked up auto repair on my Foursquare App and found Ben's. Cross referenced on Google...good reviews...so I called. Ben gave me great directions to his shop and took a look at my car 30 minutes before they closed. Ben gave me great advice. Unfortunately my car wasn't going to make it home, so Ben gave me a ride to a motel. First thing in the morning I got a call from Ben with an estimated time to completion. It was done in 3 hours, earlier than he thought. I was in a situation where I really could have been ripped off. But I paid a fair price and I was on my way home. I found Ben to be trustworthy and honest. Have no doubts... go to Ben's.

I haven't had any work done here, but I have delivered parts here & was able to have the opportunity of meeting the man at the front desk & also the owner "Ben" himself. Just having this opportunity & a small conversation with these great guy's gave me the feeling that this place does awesome & honest work. Also seeing what had to be perfect looking car's in the shop being worked on as Ben's personal projects gives me a good idea of just how great work they must do. Can't wait to deliver here again!!!

James at the front desk is very knowledgeable, he will go through all the options and be honest on the work that needs to be done. I have taken both my personal vehicles and company truck to be worked on. When i was provided a time frame for the work to be completed it was always meet, the one time it took a day longer he called me and apologized, asked if it was okay to get the car back to me mid next day. I had absolutely no problem giving them that extra time, since to that point everything has always gone smoothly. The crew really knows what they are doing and will get it done right the first time. There was some simple things that really made me trust them, when i asked if they can do certain work, they said they could but mentioned because of the mechanics qualifications, they are compensated more, (which is a great thing) but something as simple as a alignment or a oil change would cost me more, as opposed to a shop that does that more specifically, they suggested to me to take it there if i was just looking at better pricing with the same quality. At this point of working with them for a couple years now, for mayor repairs, Ben's is the only shop i would ever consider taking it to. Ben's Auto Repair, Keep up the great honest work! Thank you!

Took my truck in for an alignment. I had previously taken it to two other shops that were unable to align it within specs. John was able to get it aligned perfectly and in under 2 hours. Great business experience and service. Definitely recommend them.

I have been going to Ben for a year now for regular repairs and he's always been honest and fair. When my car got damaged in the hail storm a few months ago my car was totalled by insurance. Since I couldn't afford to replace the car, I took the salvage and the payout, and went to Ben. His price was over $1000 cheaper than the insurance body shop, and he even fixed a few extras that they wouldn't have done! The car turned out absolutely perfect and I am so happy with it! It looks brand new, and as always Ben and his staff were extremely friendly and helpful throughout the lengthy repair.

To people suspicious of five star reviews: No, seriously, this was a five star experience! I first took my Camry, after a moderate fender bender, to Toyota Irving, but they were dismissive (not quite rude) and tried hard to total the vehicle, expecting a bonus from State Farm, instead of giving a fair estimate of damages and vehicle value. They put repairs at 4000. But then I called Ben's after seeing the great reviews and they didn't disappoint, with a final cost of 2500. They were very polite on the phone and gave me more info than I asked for, rather than trying to rush through the call. Ben's was one of only two shops I called willing to do a free visual and written estimate for me before bringing out an adjustor from state farm. When I brought in the vehicle, Ben looked at it, and even though it was the end of the work day, he took the initiative and time to help me tie on my bumper with a tighter knot than the previous knot. This was especially nice since he had other things to do and I wasn't even a paying customer yet. I was determined to go with Ben's auto repair so I left the vehicle with them. When they heard that my insurance wasn't covering a rental car, they showed awesome concern for me and went out of their way to bump me up the line past other drivers who did have rentals. Not a very typical way of treating customers now a days! And like I said, the price was way better than my first estimate. The repairs looked as good as expected, so I didn't get the feeling they were cutting corners to hit that low price. I have no complaints about the experience, besides that they have virtually no room to park. However, that's just because it's a well reviewed and popular place with a lot of vehicles waiting to be fixed. Thanks guys for your great work! I hope i don't have another accident, but I would definitely come back.

Excellent. Dependable. Fast. AND Trustworthy. Finding a dependable mechanic is hard. We've taken several vehicles to Ben's Auto over several years. Each time they've been up front and trustworthy. They call when they say, repairs are completed when they say. And if there's a delay, they call to tell you why...they don't wait for you to call at pick-up time to find out it's going to be another day. The parts are always guaranteed. They're up front on where the cost is and why. They've never been anything except friendly and respectful.

I had been trying to get some issues fixed for some time in other shops and they could never do a good job. It was finally fixed properly here. The car hugs the road a lot better and feels much better while driving. They also did some repairs for cheaper compared to what other shops had quoted me. Excellent service at a good price!

We have had two vehicles worked on with them. The first job was so so. The installation was ok. The welding aspect was the worst I’ve ever encountered. Did not find this out until I had my car back and looked under it. Upon check out the receptionist James trying to sell more over priced work. The second job we had done was a very simple installation that we were charged three times the normal shop cost. The only reason we allowed them to work on our car is that we have no other transportation and needed our car back the same day. Upon check out we were charged even more than what was first quoted. And again urged to get more over priced work done. As far as the quality of this job goes, it remains to be seen. Will we recommend them….probably not.

DO NOT GO here. They lack technical expertise and bad workman ship. Unfortunately, I took my car there and had to take back 4 times within 10 days and still stand with a stranded car. It doesn't take 7 days to resurface the issue. They took every opportunity to thrown in more repairs and withdrew more money from me. Do yourself a favor is saving yourself not taking your car to this mechanic.

Do not bring you car or truck here. These mechanics will not fix it but only make the problem worse. They are not mechanics just part installers if that. All three cars I had worked on here came back worse than they went in. I have called repeatedly to talk to the owner and no response.

Took truck in to replace the starter. On this model it’s necessary to remove the intake manifold. Mechanic dropped a washer down into the head and onto the piston. He didn’t realize it till he started it. They had to replace the head and #2 piston and rings. Truck didn’t run right since. I checked the oil and it didn’t even register on the dipstick. So either they didn’t put oil in or because of the repair it was being consumed. Went back 4 times in 10 days and the still couldn’t get it to run smoothly. Ben finally told me to take it to the dealer. At my expense! I just decided to live with the rough idle. 4 weeks later the cooling fan assembly broke loose and trashed the radiator, hoses, belt etc.. Called Ben and told him what happened and he denied they had to remove the fan assembly to replace the head. I told him it’s prettier easy to prove you did and in fact the mechanic that did the repairs told me they did (before this happened). Ben told me he’d call me back. He must have spoke to the mechanic because he told me to call this insurance company and they’d cover the need repairs ($1700) and car rental ($600). Well they wouldn’t. Told Ben this and said he would call them. He called me back and said I was correct that they wouldn’t cover it. I asked him how do you want to handle this then and he said he wasn’t going to and that “he couldn’t keep repairing my truck every time something happened to it”! This was all brought on by his own mechanic’s negligence. His warranty states “one year parts and labor “. He doesn’t want to honor his warranty. Told him I would have to take him to small claims court to which he responded “go ahead”. I’ve since filed and am suing him for 3 times the amount of the repairs and car rental. I’d stay away from this place. James, the office manager/secretary is nothing more than a used car salesman. Just blows smoke. I hope Ben sees this and responds. Update. It’s been about 6 weeks and no response from Ben. Update. Today I won my case in small claims court against Ben! Notice Ben only responds to positive reviews.
