Driver was great to work with, salvaging a star here, but as another review noted- this is not actually a repair shop. It's probably helpful to get people to hire the tow by listing it in the business name, but (if repairs were found to be needed after extracting the vehicle) taking it to their shop was clearly not an option in reality.

I had to use my roadside assistance for the first time tonight. Bill’s Towing in Middleton was sent by my insurance company. I am beyond impressed with the overall experience! From the rapid response to my location to the friendly driver, I give this company 5 stars! It was late, raining, cold and I had my kids with so I appreciate the ease of it all!

Absolutely aweful experience with these people. We weren't home when our 17 y.o. son hit a parked car 3 blocks from the house. He called the police, who recommended this tow service. The tow truck driver could've towed the car 3 blocks to our house, but convinced our sun that our insurance would pay to tow the car to their storage facility. Sounds like a great idea to a 17 year old. No talk of it being an impound lot. Fast forward a few days later with us scrambling to get another car, we call the service to find out we owe 1300+ dollars for tow and storage, but they'll give us a break with 200.00 to scrap the car. Unbelievable that they take advantage of a kid, and I can't believe the police recommend these people.

I was not able to be present for the tow so I arranged it through dispatch who was extremely friendly and helpful. They showed up on time (confirmed by my mother in law) and dropped the vehicle off promptly (confirmed by my shop). The driver was kind enough to personally speak with my shop and make sure they got my key. The whole experience was great and really helped me out in a tough spot!

Ongoing nightmare. Bills towing required us to leave a key with our car. We did, we explained it would be in the hitch. Towed our car away, without retrieving key and fob, now lost. Spent hours trying to find it ourselves. Tried multiple times to contact to ask for accountability. Our phone calls were not returned and we have escalated a claim. Phoned again to follow up and was treated poorly. No apologies, no accountability. Steer clear if you are looking for friendly . customer service. Will edit review if something changes, but it seems like they could care less that they really screwed up and would rather us "work through our insurance company."

Absolutely amazing service. We have AAA and waited 4 hours with no response and started calling around. No one would take the job since we had a flat tire on the driver side on a large fifth wheel. They showed up within the hour, replaced our tire and then pulled through when I had a different tire blow out less than an hour later(same camper). If you ever need road side assistance in the Madison area with a camper/trailer/rv you should absolutely call Bill's. I wish I called them first. THANK YOU FOR ALLOWING ME TO GET HOME SAFE(even on a Sunday)!!

We were traveling from out of state and had car problems. This also happened to be the day before Thanksgiving at 5:00 p.m. After having our great State Farm Agent arrange this tow, we couldn’t have had better service. Bill’s arrived before the ETA given and the driver was super friendly and sympathetic to our situation. He even talked to the dealer we were towed to in order to make sure our car was parked safely until the day after the holiday. Highly recommend this business!

DO NOT RECOMMEND UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. I met my husband for a trip in the Dells (we live in MKE) and drove separately. On our way back his car broke down on expressway with no warning what so ever. Luckily I was following him. A sheriff pulled up and I explained I had insurance that covered jumping, towing, etc. My insurance unfortunately said they were short on drivers and if I wanted to call my own company they would reimburse me. The Sheriff recommends Bill's Towing which I already had pulled up on my phone. He said "let me call", they know me, they will come faster. NEVER do that!! A gentleman came pretty quickly, tried to jump my car but said it may be the alternator. They had a shop 2 miles away but weren't sure when they could look at it. He reassured me that if they looked at it I wouldn't be charged any storage or I could call Hyundai on Monday and see if they could take it. I told them I wanted to check with my insurance on Monday and I may see if I can get it towed to MKE. On Monday, they quoted me $1500 to tow under a 100 miles. I said I would pay the diagnostic fee of $125 and maybe wait for them to fix it at their shop. They call back and say they have no clue what is wrong. NOTHING but they did charge $125. I said ok, I have no choice but to tow it to Hyundai. (Husbands Jeep was towed last year and the 97 mile tow was $350). My first tow (which they said was 2 miles to the next exit) was ~$660!!! They charged me "impound" towing charges!!! I was charged $195 for Sheriff calling, $60 in Admin fees, an extra $30 for using a credit card which was STUPID Excessive. They then charged me another ~$357 to tow it 20 mins to Madison. I have NEVER seen ridiculous charges like this in my life and have had several tows! DO NOT USE this company. They did end up reimbursing the $150 "storage fees" for the 2 days it was there. Luckily, Hyundai is giving us a loaner and a brand new engine on my 13.5 year old car.

After waiting for AAA to get us assistance for an hour and a half, I decided to call Bill's directly, and they were there in less than 30 minutes! Quick, professional, and overall very helpful in a stressful situation. Would recommend!

Bill's Towing and Automobile Repair was a great experience from the time needing their service and the care they provided my father during a rainy, foggy and dark evening. They were timely and patient with him and that was priceless. Ron was helpful the next day when we picked up the vehicle. Thank you!!!

Needed a tow following an accident. Bill’s arrived within 15 minutes. Very easy to coordinate with my insurance. Special thanks to Flip, who was extremely friendly, courteous and helpful when I showed up at the shop to retrieve personal items from my car.

Really disappointed with most recent service I received from bills. I'd had to get towed by them once in the past and was really impressed with the driver so when my car kicked the bucket I decided to call bills for a tow. I wish I'd called someplace else. When I called I was told that it would be a 45 minute wait which I was fine with. After over an hour had gone by I called asking for an update and was told the driver was just finishing up with his last customer and would be on his way and I should expect him shortly. After a second hour had gone by I called again for an update I was told the driver was currently on the way and I could expect him in the next ten minutes. The driver showed up an hour after that call. All told I waited 3 hours on the side of the road for a 45 minute estimate. If they had been truthful with me on any of the calls I would have just called another tow service which I bet would have gotten there quicker, which is probably why they kept giving me false estimates. Would not recommend and will not use again.

$500 and over a week lost, do not use this service. Horrible communication, broken commitments, outright lies, and overcharged for service. Bill's is listed as an auto repair shop. DO NOT TRUST THAT LISTING. We had our car towed by Bill's with the intention to be towed and repaired at the same place. This was a HORRIBLE mistake. They towed the car initially on a Saturday, and said they would look at it early the following week. We gave them a couple days, but no phone call. When we called to check on the car, the dispatcher said they were looking at it and would call back. They never called. We waited another two days and called back. The dispatcher again said they were looking at it. When they finally did call back (6 days after the initial tow) the dispatcher said they knew what was wrong with it, but would not fix it. We were never able to talk to an actual mechanic, so no real clue as to why they wouldn't fix it, but the car then had to be retowed. It took another couple days before the car would get towed to a place it could actually be fixed, losing us over a week of time. The bill was $500, so we complained to the dispatcher and were told that someone would call back and address our concerns with us. They did not call back. We called back once more before paying the bill (they wouldn't tow it until the bill was paid) and a different dispatcher told us that $500 was typical for a tow. Two days after paying the bill, we called to check on the car, since it had not arrived as expected the day before. We were told they couldn't possibly know if and where they had towed it without providing the VIN (a piece of information, never previously referenced throughout this experience). Upon calling them back with that information, they told us never mind that they had just towed the car and it had arrived safely. So much wasted time and hassle. If we had made a choice to go with a different towing company, we would have been back on the road in half the time without the wasted expense.

TL:DR - Bill's held my car hostage, damaged it while it was in their possession, then was unresponsive to attempts to contact re: damages. This summer I was in a car/deer accident. Bill's was dispatched by my insurance to tow my car. Instead of taking it to the repair lot as instructed, they took it back to their lot. After a couple of days of not taking the car to the shop, they stated that my insurance needed to contact them to authorize release. We found out it was because they wanted $1400 for the tow. Insurance took steps to get that in motion, but Bill's still would not release the car and insisted they had to deliver it, which delayed the process further. Finally they got my car to the repair shop. Once I got my car back after repairs were completed, I discovered that there was other damage (rear bumper and quarter panel, and center console). Had clear evidence that the damage was not present when the car was loaded onto the truck but was present when it arrived at the repair shop. Bill's was unresponsive to myself, the repair shop, my insurance agent, and the contracting company between insurance and Bill's. Eventually we were able to get payment from the contracting company who advised they would continue to follow up with Bill's. Don't know what ever came of that. (I am posting this to both Bill's locations - I believe towing was dispatched from Middleton but intake and followup was handled through Lodi location.) Edit to add, in response to owner's reply: This simply is not true. When the incident happened and I called my insurance company, we established that the car would be taken to the selected repair shop. The insurance company and repair shop were as surprised as I was when they learned that the car was taken to your facility, as that was not the agreed plan. But even if we put that part aside, that does not address the damage done to my car while it was in your hands, and that you would not respond to myself, the repair shop, my insurance, nor your own contracting and insuring company. We all attempted to call and contact you about this problem, but you did not follow through. I would love it if you would investigate this service call and its followup. If you can provide me an email address I would be happy to reach out, but I have no need or desire to chase you on the phone.

We had a wreck in the area during a winter storm about a year ago .... Bill's crew did an outstanding job in -16 -20 temperatures. They used multiple units for the job. Truck ,Trailer and load was recovered with minimum damages. The price for the service was right and way below what other company's in the area quoted us . Bill .. thank you for helping us!!

Insanely ungodly expensive and overpriced. Other than that they are relatively easy to deal with outside of considerable wait times on phone calls.

Bill’s was excellent to work with. I called asking for an estimate for a towing job and immediately got one. Once scheduled, the wait was not long (30-40mins). The tow truck arrived, the driver was kind and patient (waited for me to complete the payment once he arrived) and took care of dropping the vehicle and key off at the designated location. Afterwards, I called to confirm the vehicle was dropped off and quickly received that confirmation.

Bill’s Towing is Amazing! Our Class A Diesel RV was in need of a tow near Janesville, Wisconsin. CoachNet contacted Bill’s Towing and within 1-1/2 hours Bill and Jameson arrived. They knew exactly what special requirements are needed to tow an RV. Knowledgeable, professional and courteous describe both of these men. We were taken to Block Diesel to rectify our situation. I would Highly recommend Bill’s Towing to anyone in the Central Wisconsin areas. Thank you Bill and Jameson!
