I have gone to Broad Street Auto for all my company and personal vehicles since about 2017 when I moved down to Richmond. Alice, Will, and everyone there are always the best. I recommend Broad Street Auto to everyone I can. It is such a welcoming and accommodating shop. I appreciate all their help over the years. Thank you for everything, it’s always a great experience.

Alice is very professional yet friendly to work with. Even better is the work is done quickly, reasonably and they don’t “find” four other things wrong with the car.

I have been coming here for years to get my inspection done, and I recommend that you do the same! I love that you can schedule an appointment to get work done at a time that works for you. The staff here is extremely friendly and thorough when explaining any issues. I have never felt taken advantage of here either. I highly recommend Broad St for all your needs!

I have been going to this shop for almost 7 years for state inspection and repairs. They did a decent job but not always friendly. Recently my car has water leak problem, they are not at all helpful, not only not wanting to take my job and not willing to recommend another auto repair shop. I’m totally disappointed with they attitude towards a returning customer

Workers were polite. Office and front area was clean neat and organized. Technician fixed my vehicle and I left satisfied. Great and will definitely return. I got there told them what was going on. They listened and did fixture. I like this place because they seemed all about getting the job done. Which is very important to me- no gimmick kind of place. 🙂

We are a family of 5 drivers and have been to many auto repair shops. Hands down Broad Street Auto is the place to go. They are honest, trustworthy, and don’t try over sell you on maintenance repairs. Thank you from the Moore Family

After several good experiences with Broad Street Auto & Tire, I’m disappointed to say I’m back on my search to find a repair shop in RVA that’s transparent, reliable, and always treats all customers with high levels of consideration and respect. I brought my car in for a state inspection two weeks ago and waited in the office for about an hour and a half. A man at the front desk (I didn’t catch his name) eventually told me my car would not pass inspection and that he didn’t have time to go into details. My car is older and has high mileage, so I expected that some work might be needed. I asked if he could at least give me a brief overview of what might be wrong or what would need to be checked or repaired in order to pass inspection. He repeatedly said he didn’t have time. While I understand they may not have had time to do the repairs that day, I found it frustrating that he wouldn’t offer even a high-level explanation—especially given that he had a full page of notes about my car sitting right in front of him. I even would have been willing to pay for a diagnostic explanation, but there was no flexibility or effort to communicate. I considered coming back for a follow-up appointment thinking maybe it was just an off day, but the lack of transparency and communication caused me to lose trust in this shop. If you’re younger or appear less knowledgeable about cars, I’d be cautious bringing your vehicle here.

I have been a loyal customer at Broad St for around 2 years. I'd recently been hearing some unusual sounds while driving, as well as strong vibrations while idling in D, assumed a transmission issue (at least) & have had some mount problems in the past. I brought the car in. They replaced an engine mount claiming it was broken (I'm not so sure, but I didn't ask to see it because this is a place I generally trust), and mentioned that a transmission mount could also need replacing if I'm still having issues. Now, I'll give them points for the transmission mount callout, but upon retrieving my vehicle, all of the issues I had described had not improved whatsoever. ~$400 later. In fact, they continued to get worse. I mentioned these problems, and scheduled a new appointment. At some point, Alice mentioned that the tech could not identify/reproduce the issue I was describing. I'm not sure how that could be the case for any professional in this business who got inside that car. When I got there, Alice went to get the technician from the back so we could talk about it. Through the glass, I saw him do a finger-gun-to-the-head motion. I'm not sure what I did wrong, but I bring my car to the shop to fix problems, not replace parts (unless they fix the problems...). He seemed someone inexperienced, and even recommended I take it to a dealership. And sent me on my way. So, I took the car to my other shop. Turns out, I had some issues with shocks/struts, causing cupping in my tires, and the transmission mount was the primary issue. This second shop had multiple technicians identify multiple sounds caused by different issues with different parts. One shock was in dire need of replacing, another engine mount (put in by Broad St. around a year ago) was broken (they showed it to me), and the transmission mount. $1,800 later, the car is in perfect working order and sounds better than it ever has since I've owned it. I'm sorry Alice, I have always appreciated your demeanor, responsiveness, and attitude. I will no longer be a customer here. Their patience, attention to detail, and thoroughness seems to have degraded in recent months. I would recommend you either fire or seriously reevaluate the technician that worked on my car. I would not recommend this shop at this time.

These guys are the best! I had an emergency situation and had to get towed to somewhere near by and ended up here. That was 2 years ago and they've done nothing but amazing work for me since on two different Subaru Foresters. The prices are fair, they're clear about what is necessary, and they're so incredibly nice. Bonus that there is often a pup in the shop which makes me smile every time!

I had a very disappointing experience with Broad Street Auto. I asked them to reattach a piece of trim on my car, and the owner later said the work was complete and the car was ready for pickup. After I paid the bill — which also included charges for new filter installations — I went outside and found that the trim was still sitting on my front seat and hadn’t been attached at all. I went back inside and asked why I had been told the job was done when it clearly wasn’t. The owner simply said she was “sorry,” but didn’t offer any real explanation. I also asked for a correction to the bill because they charged $70 for a “diagnostic” related to the trim. I did ask them to briefly look over the fluids and let me know if the car needed anything, but the owner claimed that alone justified the $70. In my experience with auto shops, a quick fluid check is usually a courtesy, not a standalone diagnostic charge — especially when the main repair I brought the car in for wasn’t completed. Overall, I left paying for work that wasn’t done and a fee that didn’t feel justified. Based on how this was handled, I cannot recommend this shop.

Yesterday-3/2/26 my vehicle passed inspection today—3/3/26 engine light is on. I called them to see if they would offer to take a look incase something left open or whatever it maybe, the lady who answered the phone said the inspection and what they did had nothing to do with my engine light coming on and it would cost me $85 for them to take a look. I made an appointment but I want another opinion. I’m done with them and hope it’s nothing major they done to force us to spend more $$. I find it *suspicious* just a day after a full state inspection plus oil change are done to a car that had no issues and passed inspection— to engine light coming on. I’m beyond disappointed! More so because they offered no help just incase they messed up by leaving something open or loose.

I’ve been to Broad St Tire and Auto three times now, and I have been impressed with their customer service, transparency, and speed every time! I once took my car here for a second opinion after two overpriced mechanics told me I had to get something fixed for exorbitant amounts of money, and they were the only ones to be honest with me and tell me there was nothing wrong. They didn’t charge me a dime for that either! One of the few trustworthy mechanics in the area.

I have taken my car here for about 5 years now and have never had a bad experience. They are reasonably priced, very flexible with drop-offs and pick-ups and they will service what you want and not try to sell you something. I greatly appreciate a small garage like this. Highly recommend. I recommend this place to all my family and friends.
