Love Busbin Automotive in Port St Lucie! Cannot say enough good things about them. Never had a problem or thought the price was too high! It is so nice to know an auto mechanic shop who values their customers and takes pride in their work. Their prices are fair and always reasonable! Front desk and telephone personnel have been kind and are efficient. I wish I could give them 10 stars. The owner Jarad is tops at what he does always has a kind word for all his customers. Friendly, professional, no-nonsense, competent, prompt, no-pressure auto shop. You can arrange these in whatever order matters most to you. Bill, a very polite, professional, well seasoned technician, was working the office and answered the phone, so right off the bat you deal with someone who can immediately comprehend the nature for your visit. Richie was the boots on the ground who took the work order for my vehicle. He definitely had the proper equipment necessary for reading and programming my vehicle to play nice with a sensor that it falsely thought was on full blast. Basically what I'm saying is, these guys have the tools, & really know how to use them. The prices are more than fair. They were professional, polite with a good attitude. All anyone needs in this country, especially right now, is to get what they were willing to pay a fair price for. To get exactly that, with courtesy and finesse, was like stepping into a different era. Keep up the great work fellas! This is RTV sealant inside of my oil I changed it only 250 miles after because I am due for an oil change and thats how much the car has been driven this is outrageous and beyond disrespectful my motor could of went bad had this RTV went to my cylinders and all I came in for was to get all my oil leaks fixed which than only ended up being the valve cover because they couldnt do all of the work after the fact Im already 2000$ deep into this absolute garbage whole in the wall mechanic shop I have video proof of these people saying they would send the car out even though the repairs werent completed correctly because I have a camera in my car that records 24/7 and than claiming it was shop talk amongst alot of other vulgar disrespectful things they said STAY AWAY FROM BUSBIN AUTOMOTIVE!!!! Finding RTV silicone in the oil of your 2012 Smart Fortwo (Passion) is a serious concern that requires immediate attention to prevent engine failure. Is It Bad? Yes. While the 1.0L Mitsubishi-sourced engine in your Smart car uses RTV as a factory sealant for the oil pan rather than a traditional gasket, excess material can be catastrophic: Oil Pickup Clogging: Large "worms" or flakes of RTV can be sucked into the oil pickup tube, partially or fully blocking the mesh screen. Oil Starvation: Even a partial blockage can cause a drop in oil pressure, leading to "knock" or seized bearings. Filter Bypass: If the oil filter becomes overwhelmed by debris, it may enter "bypass mode," allowing unfiltered oil (and RTV bits) to travel directly to critical engine components like cam journals and oil squirters. Why "Big Amounts" in the Drain Plug is Bad Finding large amounts of RTV at the drain plug is a "red flag" for your engine's health: Clogged Oil Pickup: If the RTV is large enough to be seen at the drain plug, it is almost certainly clogging the oil pickup tube screen inside the pan. This restricts oil flow to the engine, leading to permanent damage or seizure. Blocked Passages: Shredded bits can bypass the main screen and get stuck in internal oil passages or cam cover filters, which are vital for engine timing and lubrication. Filter Overload: If the oil filter pleats become full of RTV, the filter will go into "bypass mode," allowing the debris to circulate freely through the engine Does the Valve Cover Gasket Use RTV? The Gasket Type: Your Smart car (451 model) uses a molded rubber gasket for the valve cover. Is RTV Required? No, you do not coat the entire gasket in RTV. Proper Use: You should only apply a tiny "dab" of RTV (like Permatex Ultra Black) at the corners where the timing cover meets the cylinder head or where there are sharp bends/seams. The Danger: If someone coated the entire rubber gasket with RTV, the pressure from tightening the bolts will squeeze the excess sealant into the engine, where it breaks off into the oil. Drop the Oil Pan: You must remove the oil pan to manually clean the oil pickup screen. Simply changing the oil will not remove the RTV already stuck to the screen. Inspect the Valve Cover: If the valve cover was recently replaced, it may need to be removed and re-installed correctly (clean and dry, with only tiny dabs of RTV at the seams) to stop more sealant from entering the system. Check the Oil Filter: Cut open your old oil filter; if it is filled with silicone "worms," significant contamination has already occurred
