I had the best experience with Capital Auto Body in Boise. I’m a real estate agent and needed to install a locking bar on a sliding glass door for a listing. The “adjustable” bar I purchased was about 4" too wide and I was so frustrated—it meant a return, reorder, and delays. Driving back to my office, I passed Capital Auto Body and had a lightbulb moment: maybe someone there could cut it down for me. I walked in and was greeted so warmly by the receptionist and another team member—it felt like classic Boise hospitality. They immediately said yes to helping, and the gentleman who did the work not only cut the bar down perfectly but also dipped the end in matching paint to prevent rust. Such thoughtful attention to detail! When I asked what I owed, they wouldn’t take a dime. I’m not suggesting everyone bring their odd projects in, but if you’re looking for an auto body shop that truly cares about people and takes pride in their work, this is it. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would!

Do not use them. Lack of quality control and willingness to make things right. We were referred to Capitol Autobody by the insurance company after someone hit the passenger side of our truck. We scheduled to have the work done and dropped it off. When my husband got the call that it was done, he was told then that they only except cashier’s checks, so he had to leave work early to go get that before picking up the truck. After we got it home and had a chance to look it over, my husband noticed that the front door was a little higher than the back door. He also couldn’t open the back door with the exterior handle. He had to reach inside and use the inside handle to get it open. We also noticed that they did not replace the weather stripping that somehow got damaged. My husband called Capitol A.B., and they told him to bring it back and they would take care of it. Due to our schedules, we had to wait till Friday to take it back. Before we took it in, we noticed a window switch in the cup holder, but we assumed it was one they replaced and forgot to throw away. After further investigation we discovered that it had been removed from the back driver’s side door. They had no reason to be working on the driver’s side since all the damage was on the passenger side. So why this was removed in the first place, and not put back is a mystery. We also found a plastic piece sitting on the back seat. After more searching, we discovered it was the piece that goes on the door frame for the back door. They just left it off and left it in the seat. When we dropped it off, we showed them all 5 issues, and they said they would take care of it. Once Monday afternoon rolled around, my husband got a voicemail that the truck was done and that we owed $257.92 for the weather stripping. Needless to say; that did not make us happy that we had to pay more because they screwed up. It would not be such a big deal if it was just one thing wrong, but there were 5 things that needed to be corrected. Keep in mind that we did not have a truck or a rental vehicle when we had to take it back to Capitol A.B. for their lack of quality control. Someone from their shop should have checked to make sure everything was done correctly and put back together before sending it out the door with the customer. After this experience, I would NOT recommend Capitol Autobody to anyone and will be reaching out to the insurance company to let them know about our experience, so they reconsider recommending Capitol Autobody to their clients. Edit: We received the response on here from the owner and tried to reach out to them via email on September 5th. As of now, there has been no response from the owner. Another issue: the wiring in the passenger door (that they replaced and installed) was not secured correctly by Capitol Autobody and was causing code regarding the airbag. Had to take it to Dennis Dillon to get taken care of and Capitol AB's owner will not respond to email asking them to make it right by covering that cost, since it was their mistake.

I recently met with Jayson B. for an insurance claim related to damage on my 2021 Ford Bronco. I was impressed by his promptness in providing me with a quote and his professionalism throughout the process. Upon bringing my Bronco to the workshop, I was kept perfectly informed about each stage of the repair process. The work completed was beyond my expectations when I finally got my vehicle back. Every single person at the company clearly puts effort into making your experience exceptionally professional. From the body repair to the paint job, all the way to the office, they treat you like you're part of their family. If you ever find yourself in need of collision repair, I wholeheartedly recommend them with a perfect 10/10 score.

I recently had a deeply disappointing experience with Capital City Auto that warrants sharing. I tried to pay out of pocket for a slight damage to a vehicle, expecting a straightforward repair based on their initial assessment. They provided an estimate that seemed reasonable, explicitly including the replacement of the parking sensors. However, the final bill was a staggering 50% higher than the quoted amount of $2,000, which is unacceptable for any professional service. The justification for this massive discrepancy was a vague reference to a "calibration" issue, which was neither mentioned nor accounted for in the original estimate. This lack of transparency feels like a bait-and-switch tactic, as the need for additional work should have been identified during the initial inspection, especially since they had already bid out the sensor replacement. It’s concerning that such a significant cost increase was presented only after the work was completed, leaving me with little choice but to seek legal and other recourse with consumer protection. Avoid at all costs.

My insurance gave this shop a run for their money and they handled it exceptionally. There was a huge misunderstanding with my car and claim assignment and they not only handled it with grace but helped me through the entire process. It was my first time dealing with insurance and with the miscommunications presented, I don’t think I could have reached a resolution without the capital autobody team. Thank you guys again

I had minor damage with a scrape to my right rear bumper and was given the quote on the price to repair it Midway through the repair they called to say it would be $400 more than my quote and at that point you really have no option except to just pay it. Then when I picked the car up, they’d added another hundred on top of that. If you like a classic bait and switch, then this is for you.

they are nice people, but I ended up having to come back a couple times as they forgot to finish certain parts of my back door repair on my Honda CRV. Now a year later, the back door doesn’t fully close and loudly rattles around which is super disappointing editing 11/8, they helped me out and fixed it! just took three tries

AMAZING! Had done significant damage to my front bumper, and they did amazing job fixing it! Shout out to Ian for answering all of my questions and picking up the phone every time I would call. And shout out to the amazing workers who fixed my car up for me. I dropped it off on a Monday, and it was finished that same Friday. Everything looks as good as new! Will go back to them if I ever need collision repair!

Never had to do this before and Trevor and the team walked me through everything, took care of everything, got me in quick and got me out quicker. Went above and beyond. My car looks great. The problem wasn't a big issue, but it was to me and what a difference. Even found out some trivia info about my car. That was fun. Very Happy and i would recommend Capitol Auto in a Heartbeat. Thank You Trevor and Team.

Rejected my business :/ I was refered to this shop by State Farm agent. Brought my 2 year old vehicle in to get the best repairs. Explained to the estimator that I used to work as a painter in a body shop years ago and would like to get the best quality service. After hearing that I have knowledge and experience in body shop process, the writer said he would like to politely reject my business. I was shocked!! Never had such experience. I asked to speak with the owner about this to understand why they are rejecting to repair my vehicle. The owner said that they do not believe that they will be able to satisfy me. I'm assuming because I understand the process of repairs and will be able to detect poor workmanship :/ They must be hacking things in their shop. Anyways, went to Cope Collision in Meridian and had an excellent experience.

I have used Capitol Body before. I have had the best experience working with this company. Great customer service, excellent communications letting me know where things stood during the repair process. Can't say enough about what a really tremendous experience I have had both times with this company. Highly recommend them!

This is at least my second time using Capitol for body work. The shop is responsive, professional, and took care in repairing my car. They also endeavored to make the process as easy as possible by interfacing with insurance and rental car as appropriate, and by providing regular status updates on my repair. I very much appreciated their customer focus.

I had a fantastic experience with this auto body shop. Trevor was my representative, and he went above and beyond to keep me informed, answer my questions, and ensure everything was handled smoothly from start to finish. The quality of work was outstanding, and the rest of the team was just as professional, friendly, and efficient. My car looks better than ever, and the entire process was stress-free thanks to their excellent service. Highly recommend—definitely a 5/5 star experience.

I was involved in a very minor traffic accident that resulted in only slight damage to my rear bumper, as shown in the attached photo. The damage was barely noticeable. I dropped off my car at this shop and specifically requested that they call me with an estimate before proceeding with any repairs. Unfortunately, neither my husband nor I received a call, and the shop proceeded with the work without our approval. The total cost to repair the bumper was $3,344.13, which I find astonishing given the minimal damage. While I used the other driver’s insurance, I was extremely disappointed with the lack of communication throughout the process. I chose this body shop because of its high Google reviews, but my experience did not meet my expectations. I hope they improve their communication and transparency with customers in the future.
