BEWARE! We had a free wash coupon and then upgraded to the premium wash when asked if we wanted to do so. We went through the car wash as usual, like we've done other places many, many times. At the vacuums, it was then that I noticed that the chrome piece on our door handle was missing. We immediately told the girl, and she went back in the wash and found it on the ground. We got it taped back together on the door handle until we could talk to "Randy" about fixing this for us. Randy never called. My husband had to reach out to him. Randy basically told my husband he was only about 10% responsible and that the piece must have had a crack in it beforehand, and there was nothing he could do. We have a 2023 Ford F150 in excellent condition. If there was a crack in the handle, we would have gotten it fixed and CERTAINLY would not have gone through a high-powered car wash and dryer knowing we had a damaged part. Oh, it's cracked all right, but it cracked as it was blown off in the dryer and fell on the ground! So basically "Randy" refused to accept any responsibility and replace the damaged part from their car wash/blow dryer and worse yet, indicated that it was damaged prior to, which it was not. Buyer beware!

Great car wash! Go there all the time.. I also get my oil changes done on a regular routine. I also asked the attendant to space me out from other cars so the water and machines can better hit the front grill and the tailgate...especially with all the salt from roads. And they happily did it! It came out perfectly grit free! Thank you!!!

I have bringing my car into Carl’s Wash for years for oil changes and services. Two months ago, I brought my vehicle in for an oil change, state inspection and coolant exchange - which was extensive and expensive work to my vehicle. Upon pickup, there was absolutely no mention of any corrosion on my battery. This morning, my car wouldn’t start. AAA came out to inspect the battery, and told me it was one of the worst corrosions that they’ve ever seen and that it had to be months in the making. It corroded so badly that it broke off the attaching terminal. I was disappointed that Carl’s did not mention this to me. Either they noticed this and didn’t say something, or they didn’t notice it, which is also equally disappointing given how much work they were completing to my vehicle. Upon calling to talk through the situation, I spoke with Carl who was rude and unapologetic. I personally will not be bringing my vehicle here again and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone else.

Excellent wash! No other wash got my hard water stains out, which come from the yard sprinklers running with well water. The wash I got had some kind of ceramic additive which is fish friendly, and I imagine that's what did it, without killing any fish. And I love fish, so that eco friendly touch was nice. The vacuum station was also excellent. Pulled out all the loose dog hair, and even some that was still attached to my dog.

I always go here for my state inspection. Online scheduling was so easy & they sent text reminders. I arrived a few minutes early but they got my car right in. I sat in an extremely clean & comfortable waiting area which included wifi. My car was in & out in about 30 minutes. They gave me a complimentary car wash on my way out. Staff was very nice and I am extremely satisfied.

Reliable, Professional, and Honest Service Carl’s Car Wash and Service Center has been my go-to spot for all my vehicle maintenance needs—and for good reason. Every time I visit, I’m consistently impressed by their thoroughness, professionalism, and technical competence. From routine oil changes to more involved repairs, Carl’s team approaches every job with care and attention to detail. They take the time to explain what’s needed, never push unnecessary services, and always keep my budget in mind, which I truly appreciate. What sets them apart is not just their mechanical know-how, but their respectful, customer-first attitude. They’re prompt, communicative, and make the entire process as stress-free as possible. It's clear that they take pride in their work and genuinely value their customers. If you're looking for a place you can trust with your car—whether for a quick wash or a major repair—Carl’s is the place to go. I wouldn’t take my vehicle anywhere else.

My new go-to spot for state inspections. Booking online was quick and easy, and the service was finished while I waited. I was in and out in no time. The whole team was friendly, helpful, and upbeat; a huge step up from the experiences I’ve had at other inspection and wash places.

If you value honesty, transparency, or basic professionalism, avoid this shop. We brought our truck here for a Virginia state inspection on 12/1/2025, and they failed it then quoted $2,000 in “required” repairs. Within 48 hours, my vehicle passed a full state inspection at the Chesapeake Dodge Ram Dealership with no repairs needed or even recommended. A third independent evaluation confirmed the same — nothing was wrong with the vehicle, the ball bearings or the suspension. (Notice in other reviews, they repeatedly make this claim or something similar to customers coming in for an inspection.) When we tried to address the discrepancy, the staff claimed then, and again in their response below, that “a state trooper has to come out to resolve it,” which the Virginia State Police Safety Division later confirmed is NOT true. I am in direct communication with the officer with jurisdiction over the area, and what The owner of Carl’s is trying to bully is into doing is again NOT how the officer is proceeding. That alone should tell you everything about the level of honesty you can expect here, and how quickly they are willing to waste community resources and law enforcement's time. The number of eerily identical complaints from other customers is alarming. After experiencing this firsthand, it is hard to ignore what looks like a pattern of unnecessary failures prompting unnecessary repair estimates. In my case, the “defects” they listed simply did not exist. Nor are they common in a 4-year-old vehicle, especially one that is meticulously maintained. Not just one, but two independent, licensed Virginia inspection stations later verified their claim as false. I have submitted formal complaints to both the Virginia State Police Safety Division and the Virginia Attorney General Consumer Protection Section, requesting a full investigation into my inspection and this shop’s inspection history. Consumers deserve protection from practices like these, and there are several in place. It is past time for the state to take a close look at what's happening here. Bottom line: I would not trust this shop with an inspection, a repair, or even an air pressure check. Go anywhere else.

I visited Carl's Car Wash, where an employee gave me the green light, processed my payment, and directed me toward the wash. Just seconds before entry, Mr. Carl intervened, claiming my car's bumper wasn't safe for the equipment. While I had no issue with the safety call, it should have been identified and addressed *before* taking my money and signaling me forward. The manager then instructed me to back up and accused me of holding up the line—despite the fact that their staff had already cleared and charged me. Mr. Carl and his team displayed clear incompetence, compounded by rude and hostile attitudes. I strongly advise avoiding this location; there are plenty of better options nearby. I will be following up formally on this experience.

I took my car in for state inspection September 2025. They put a rejection sticker on it. They told me my suspension was bad and ball joints were broken. I was so upset and scared to drive my car. I don’t drive my car for a week waiting for appointment at Hyundai Service Center. It was very inconvenient for me to figure out how to get to work and back. Hyundai calls me after dropping it off and they tell me NOTHING IS WRONG at all with my car. Carl’s was trying to take advantage of me and trying to get 1,700.00 dollars out of me. I called them and he said oh it’s 2 different places looking at your car….like Hyundai isn’t qualified to tell me if something is wrong. I’m pretty sure if suspension and ball joints were broken they would tell me bc they get paid to fix it. Edit: Okay I apologize….control arm bushings. Either way, there is nothing wrong with my car. I will never return to your shop. I don’t need you to show me anything. Hyundai service center sent me multiple clear videos showing me underneath my car. You putting because there is a warranty…? Does that mean that don’t care and would allow me to drive a vehicle that is unsafe?? I don’t think so. They get paid to work on vehicles no matter if there is a warrant involved. Trying to say that a place of establishment would not work or care because of that is very alarming. Do you do that at your shop because why would you even put that? Thanks for your response it was super helpful.

Had to basically throw away $2000+ due to a cylinder misfire repair and it was driving nicer at first but the check engine light came on literally the next day. I also came in for an oil change on October 29 and when I got my truck back, the oil life was still at 14%. I gave the benefit of doubt that maybe the gauge wasn’t reset but then I got the pop up to change my oil soon and it was at 8%. What was even done??? Definitely not the oil change. They have also been rude at times when I was voicing concerns about my truck. To any ladies reading this review, do NOT get service done here as they clearly like to take advantage of female customers. Will never come back not even for a car wash. Service -100/10

Hello in April 2025 we brought in our Toyota Rav 4 and always liked to come here due to military observance, discounts and existing records even though the cost of service had gone up. Sadly, we had to stop going here with all our vehicles for fail to inform their service people to place the correct oil filter on the car. It was due to for inspection and then we did an oil change. This had happened before they did not tighten the oil filter correctly and my mother in law was stranded on the highway just after a service for failure to tightening the oil filter and oil went everywhere. Okay, we wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt and keep coming (many times I would have to ask them to make sure they place the filter on correctly due to this incident) BUT THEN we bring the same vehicle back for service and they place the wrong oil filter on which this time damaged the engine and seized it and created an inconvenience and damage to a perfectly good car we had in our family for years. They only wanted to give us $2000 but we asked for more knowing our vehicle was worth more. Never acknowledging their error and failing to at least apologize for their neglect we were treated poorly and ignored after years of service. We had to wait for their insurance but came out with more than expected. We are grateful for the final outcome. Sadly, I have to write this review so others will be aware. Please be aware of their issue to fail to tighten and place correct oil filters.

I've been using Carl's Wash for my vehicle service needs for just about 10years now. From Tires, to Oil Changes, State Inspections, Breaks and wiring - I've yet to feel disappointed when I leave. The trust alone is everything as where do you go anymore that people won't take advantage or tell you inaccurate information and OVERPRICE the heck out of you! I can't refer Carl's Wash enough. Great customer service, trustworthy, and great pricing (and yes, I do my homework before making any decision and can say that I have yet to get better pricing anywhere else).

Just had to run my vehicle through the wash, twice. And unfortunately it still didn’t get clean. I’ll now have to go elsewhere to get my car cleaned. Giving 3 stars because the cashier and the gentleman before entering the wash were really nice and helpful.

Did not have oil filter in stock, even though I told them the vehicle and engine type when booking the appointment. Also failed my vehicle on state inspection for something that wasn’t actually needing replacement, and attempted to price gouge me for the repair. Took vehicle to regular car dealership and confirmed state inspection passed, and nothing wrong with vehicle. Spoke with management(Zack and Mike) to try and rectify these issues and instead of trying to come to a solution recommended I speak to the state police. Editing to respond to the comically unprofessional response from the company: At no point was I “walking around the shop complaining to others” nor am I “crying about it online,” as alleged. Upon returning to the property, I remained in my vehicle and respectfully requested to speak with the service and oil-change managers. At no time did I raise my voice or act unprofessionally; I conducted myself appropriately throughout the interaction—unlike the employees who addressed me, and later my wife. My intention in returning was simply to resolve concerns regarding an inadequate inspection and an unsuccessful attempt to complete a pre-scheduled oil change. This was a genuine, good-faith effort to correct the situation, that was not met with any accountability. Additionally, it is ironic you chose to degrade your customers who use their right to post reviews of their experiences instead of responding to 1:1 emails sent. It is very telling that management appears to have chosen to reinforce an inaccurate narrative that has repeatedly been disproved rather than address the issue. I find it disappointing and perplexing that Carl’s Wash stands for treating a military member in uniform in such a manner, especially considering the Evory familiy (original founders of carls wash) has a distinguished history of military service, as well as the large military presence in the Hampton Roads area. To recommend we waste community resources and tax payer dollars bringing a State Police Officer in to right your wrong is even more baffling. Unfortunately, it seems that this business is incapable and unwilling to engage in reasonable dialogue to resolve legitimate concerns.

Never feel the need to leave reviews and this experience definitely left me with a need to share. Had my 2014 Hyundai Tucson serviced for an oil change. 2 weeks later, noticed a lot of oil leaking. Called Carl's Wash and they asked me yo bring it. Total wait was about 10 minutes and they were slammed busy. Saw it was a defective oil filter, replaced that with a higher quality and topped off fluids free of charge. You guys have made me a customer for life and will recommend to everyone to take your vehicle here for everything

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Carl’s Car Wash absolutely nailed it. From start to finish, the customer service was top-tier. J.C. was the technician who took care of me, and wow knowledgeable, thoughtful, and genuinely helpful. He didn’t just do the job; he gave solid suggestions and advice and made sure everything was done right. You can tell he actually cares. Aston (I believe it’s spelled like Aston Martin) was also incredibly welcoming and made checkout quick and easy. Super smooth experience, no confusion, no rushing, just good service. Then Whitney came by afterward to check in, asked how everything went, and even gave me a card for a free car wash. She was warm, personable, and memorable. When I asked her name, she joked, “I’m Whitney, but I don’t have any talent.” I completely disagree. Great customer service is a talent and she has it. Overall, every single person I interacted with was helpful, professional, and kind. Carl’s Car Wash isn’t just about washing cars or oil changes, it’s about how they treat people. And they do that exceptionally well. Highly recommend. Go check them

I can’t say enough good things about Carl’s. After months of dealing with another shop that just kept guessing and replacing parts, I was told the only option left was to replace my entire engine. I was so discouraged and honestly thought I bought a lemon. Then I brought my truck to Carl’s. Right away, it felt different. They actually diagnosed the problem instead of just throwing parts at it. They found the real issue, explained everything in a way I could understand, and even pointed out some leaks that definitely needed attention. No pressure, just straightforward honesty. They fixed what needed to be fixed, and now my truck drives smoother than it ever has since I bought it. Compared to my old experience, Carl’s was like a breath of fresh air. If you’re looking for a place that actually knows what they’re doing and cares about getting it right, this is it.
