I can't speak about their work, but their customer service was outstanding, and the people behind the counter were wonderful

After getting no reply from my Dealership Service department, it was time to start shopping around for a new service shop. When I called to get more info, I was blown away by how nice Chris was on the phone. I gave him a rundown of what I needed done (I knew I needed my brakes serviced, and knew it was well overdue) and he was very informative about the process, what was important and what wasn't (at the time), and my options for payment. I dropped my vehicle off at the time we scheduled, and their shuttle driver got me to work. I got a call back later that afternoon from Matt with what needed to be done. I was not gonna be able to do it all at once, so they sent me three separate quotes so I could have an idea of what needed to be done in the future. By the next day, I was able to get the money to pay for the necessary work, and they were very non-judgemental and understanding. Not pushy at all about the work that still needed to be done. I do intend to go back and finish the rest of the work because they were very warm, welcoming, and really great communicators. The work that I had done was completed on time and with no issues. I'll recommend them to anyone looking for a new shop to get their vehicle worked on! Keep up the good work guys!

I like the idea of supporting an independently owned car shop on the Eastside but I have nothing but delays and poor service from Chet's on and off for more than 15 years. I have had everything from personal cars to fleet vehicles worked on at Chet's there's always some delay or bad service that throws a wrench into things. Most notably, when I had new tires put on my car, and waited for 4 hours because the folks installing them managed to break the pressure sensors. After getting the bad news about the busted sensors Chet's son came out to tell me that they were graciously going to replace the sensors "for free" and reminded me that they were making an exception for this service, despite their negligence being the source of the issue. Yesterday, I used their online scheduling page to have a lightbulb replaced on my car, I received a notification confirming the request and moved my schedule around to accommodate the repair. However, this morning I got another email saying they were booking 6 days out....why even have an online scheduling page? Chet's I'm breaking up with you and this time it's for good. *Update: Midas had me in and out the door in about 10 minutes.

My car broke down and I ended up having AAA tow it to Chet’s (hadn’t been there before). The folks at Chet’s were all quite friendly and genuinely empathetic. It’s pretty unbelievable, but somehow they were able to get the parts to replace my front calipers and brake rotor in the same day I had the car towed. I’ll definitely be returning to Chet’s for future auto repair needs, and would recommend others do the same.

When I lived in Madison, Chet's was my go-to place. They were always very responsive, kept me informed, and their quotes were always accurate. Over the years, they handled my routine maintenance, replaced a full AC system, fixed up some issues with my fuel intake/air mixture, and helped with issues related to a recall. They did this work on a 2005 Chevy Aveo and on a 2017 Chevy Equinox. The appointments were always timely OR they would call in advance when a change was needed. The team was friendly and informative. I highly recommend Chet's!

Last Friday, I called to see if Chet's Care Care could put my new license plates on? They said, "sure, just bring it to the drive-in", which I did. Roman came out to help me. He was eager to get to work, and looked at my front plate so see what tool he needed, a straight screwdriver. I barely blinked and he had the front plate off. Then he started on my back plate and showed me my car did not have old rusty bolts but a plastic connection which was easy to get off and he put the new plate on. Roman asked if I wanted the Metro Ford plastic attachment and I said "no, because it was on my bumper." He showed me that it just collected dirt. I was very pleased and pleasantly surprised by the great service I received. Way to go!

I do not normally leave reviews good or bad but this one is a little different. I scheduled an appointment 2 weeks ago to get a tune up and brake check as I have a hard time not using my truck for a full day because of work. I show up early as I always do and they added an oil change which I did not need. I had that removed and then they said it would be a little bit before they get it in so I had them give me a ride to a place more comfortable to wait. After about 5 hours I call to see what is up because it's only a couple hour project. I was told the truck was not in the shop yet, asked why did I make an appointment then? He said sorry and that he thinks I am next on the list. I get a call back an hour later to say that they will get it in the shop but not finish until tomorrow morning. Forget it I need my truck. I pick up my truck and no we'll make it right with you or anything. I am out gas money there and back, I do not live close and had to pay for a Lyft to pick up my truck. I'm out gas and ride money to not get any work done and now I have to spend ANOTHER day somewhere to get this work done. It's not right.

I was on the north side of town when I hit a bolt with my tire and needed a repair. I went to Chet's, they got me in right away and fixed the problem. The pricing was really fair and the service was top notch. I would highly recommend this shop to anyone.

Fantastic crew. Had my brakes done, might’ve cost a bit more than some other places but it was worth it for the phenomenal shuttle service and honest assessment of what repairs were, and were not, needed. Had been previously told my head gasket had problems(by the dealership, no less), but thst turned out not to be accurate. Loved the free hot coffee and chatting with a few of the other customers. Will be returning.

Absolutely horrible experience. They will charge you 100 dollars just for inspecting your car, they don't tell you that it cost any money, they just look at your car, decide not to fix whatever you brought it in for, and just charge you without telling you. An actual scam, NEVER GO HERE.

I've taken my car to Chet's for years, and have had good experiences. Their prices are very reasonable, and I believe them to be honest. I did have one issue with them a while ago, and I talked to Eric (Chet's son, who works there) and he went out of his way to make it right.

While I've used this shop to change tires on my car, it seems they have joined the third party electric vehicle black out. I need my cv splines re greased and they are scared to do it.... Its not even that hard of a job, there a whole YouTube video and Tesla online repair manual how to do it, rubber mallet and 200 ftlb wrench tone torque the axle nut, really frustrating that local shops and small businesses refuse to work on electric vehicles ... Suspension is suspension! Cv axles are cv axles 😔

The staff here are fantastic--special shout out to Roman, who's gone above and beyond multiple times for me. Been going to Chet's for as long as I've lived in Madison (5+ years). Good and reliable work, straightforward and kind people, and the shuttle is a real bonus.

I should have walked out when Jeff was difficult and dismissive from the beginning. I brought my previous repair history for helpful information. He said 'why the hell would I want that?' but used it for the VIN. A mechanic interrupts mid conversation about an oil filter while I'm at the counter. Leaveing me waiting and my wife waiting on me outside. I request an alignment because my car pulled or drifted to the right and a license plate install and a low tire. I was told $165. I get a call saying it's done and it's $265. They said it needed license plate clips and tech wanted more time. Didn't call me for any approvals for the increase and said car pulled because of road crown but aligned. They didn't find the tire leak but it kept on going low afterwards. He argued about that too. 3/4 tire were at 38 one was at 24. He said 'you don't think the 3 being so high would be the reason?' He quoted me a steering u-joint saying it has slight movement and another alignment. A second shop found that my right strut was causing the pull and fixed it. Asked for an itemized billing explanation and alignment printout. Jeff wouldn't go over it until I paid, no printout was received. I do not recommend this shop at all based on this experience and will not be back.

I have have been a customer at Chet's for several years. Recently I took my in to have new tires installed and the oil changed. They did an excellent job on both. ... I like how the They take the time to explain in detail what they will be doing and the cost prior to any work being done on your vehicle. They are very professional and they treat you with respect make sure you are completely satisfied with the work. I trust them completely.. Eddie

Went in with a recommendation from a friend. Had promising thoughts with cool old school decor in the lobby and nice guys up front to help. Got my car in on Tuesday Jan 13th and got it back a week later on the Tuesday Jan 20th. Paid 1775.43$ for a handful of repairs mainly engine work for my radiator and coolant replacement with different lines and hoses for around 1200$ and was suggested brake work for around 600$. I asked before getting my car back so when I pull off, my car won’t be overheating and smoking. I was told no from Jeff who is one of the guys up front who I assume is the owner of the shop. After an hour of driving my car around doing errands it was overheating and smoking once again. They told me bring it back, and mechanic told me I need more clamps for a dripping line to stop the smoking / overheating. Was going to be charged 5$ for the part.. so I said just paid a lot for you to already stop it from doing my that so they took it 5$ off and left my car there to get the work done that should have already been done. Got a call later that night saying I need more clamps & hoses and temperature sensor and will be 73.11$.. Okay great, next day on the 21st I went to go pick it up and pay again.. Two days later Friday Jan 23rd my brakes aren’t working now and going straight to the floor. Gliding through a few stop signs I called them back saying I really need to get my brakes to work since I just paid for them. They told me the mechanic who worked on them will be back on Monday to look at them again.. so I scheduled for Monday Jan 26th. Later that night, got a call back saying it’s going to be another 100$ for the brake work.. again I say I just paid over 1800$ now and things aren’t working. So I said I know things cost money to look at and spend time doing the work so I agreed to pay 50$ even though I shouldn’t have in my opinion. Next day Tuesday Jan 26th got the call to come pick it up in the afternoon. There wasn’t much taking from them this time. Just pay n left, again. Been good for 12 days, but started smoking and overheating Friday night Feb 6th. Was even worse yesterday, and as of today I can’t even keep it to idle Feb 8th. Definitely not coming back to this place and honestly feel like I should get some money back. Wouldn’t not trust the mechanics to work on my car again. Spending 1900$ on work to be done, I’d hope for my car to be running good but no.
