I first heard about about Chris's Auto Service's from a coworker three years ago when I just moved to the area.. I was hesitant at first cause you never know when going to a new mechanic ..after I went the first time I won't go anywhere else as long as I still live around here.. They do great work and they don't try to get you to get something fixed that doesn't need to be like some mechanics.. The wait time can be a little long but it is well worth it..I rather wait a little to get my car back cause I know they will fix it right the first time at a fair price..

Chris's is one of the last honest repair shops left in VA. They never do any work you don't authorize. They do not try to up sale you on a bunch of other stuff. But they do tell you what you need to keep you safe and running. Still great service and staff! Can't beat it!

Awesome... After going there, I refuse to take my vehicles anywhere else for maintenance. They are fast and knowledgeable as well. Their work is so good but I only get to see them twice a year for oil changes, annual tune up for on one visit and a state inspection on the next. The only thing I needed and they don't do is sell tires.

My son went to start his car a couple of days ago and it was dead. We are 10 hours away and can't just hop in the car to help. My husband thought it may be the alternator. I called Chris's Auto Services yesterday and Chris himself answered the phone. I told him what was going on with my son's car and he told me who to call to have it towed to his shop. They gave me a discount since I was having it towed there. Chris looked at it this morning and it turned out he had a battery cable loose by the alternator. We asked him how much we owed him and he said $25. He was honest and very reasonable. I highly recommend this shop if you are looking for a new place to take your car for service. When you don't know the area you just never know, but clearly Chris is a honest, good man! Thank you, Chris, for your honesty!

ROCK-SOLID SERVICE, NO B.S: Was referred from a coworker, who was happy at her own results. Needed an inspection done fast. Over the phone Chris (owner) was nice enough to give me details on when his inspector-mechanic returning to shop; was kind enough to squeeze me in on two-hours' notice. I'd called [literally] 12 other Portsmouth shops before this one, got estimated waits of 1-7 days. Arrived, and inspection began on my car within 10 minutes of my arrival. Saw about six other vehicles on lifts or being worked on; his staffing matched the workload. All four of the mechanics I passed or spoke with in my brief 30-minute wait looked me in the eye, greeted me, and made me feel welcome. Shop seemed organized, equipment/tools well-maintained, guys joked with each other but with a minimum of rough language. Female customer receiving service there also seemed to have positive interactions with the staff. At the end, able to pay for my service with credit card, at the expected price, without upselling, hassle or surprises. I got the whole thing done during a one-hour lunch break. Will put Mr. Chris's shop at the top of my list, the next time I need auto service in Portsmouth.

Took my 87' Toyota 4x4 to Chris's auto and all I can say is that I HIGHLY recommend this auto repair shop!!! Chris and his people are very friendly, very professional and more that reasonably priced!!! I'm more that satisfied with the work they did and the cost of it all!!! I got a tune up, oil change, window regulator put in, catalytic converter put on and fixed the horn and a new front bumper put on as well and they have no problem with you purchasing your own parts and bringing them unlike some other auto shops!!! Thanks Chris I truly appreciate the work and the cost!!!

I was 600 miles from home and had trouble with my van. I went in at 7:30 on Friday morning and was out of there by 9:30 with only a $200 bill. I am appalled that I am even giving this place 1 star because it wholeheartedly deserves less. Aside from the entrance being a complete junk yard and the employees being as insufferable as can be; they also did a horrible repair job on my car. My car broke down in a different state and I had to take it somewhere else to get the same repair job done and they told me whoever did it previously were amateurs.

Highly recommend this auto shop for any and all of your service needs. I was introduced to them to fix something that I attempted myself but was unable to complete. They quickly repaired the problem with the part I already had. I have been there with 2 other vehicles since then and same results. They are honest, fair priced, great customer service.
