Thought my transmission went out on my Honda Accord so had it towed to Chuck and Larry's. Turns out my front right axle had broke in half! They got the car at 1 and had it done by 4 the same day for much less than I was expecting. Excellent!

Tried to charge me for services not needed. Didn't change my rear. Still leaking. Warranty was based on things unrelated to trasmission repair. Transmission only lasted 40,000 miles. Should have last 100,000. Now I need another tranmission rebuild. DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS!

I needed a transmission rebuild on my Chevy Silverado 2500HD work truck. They quoted me a flat fee for the job, but when it came to programming the new module, things went haywire (not because of anything they did, I should add). These guys went so far above and beyond what they were paid to do, and got me back on the road sooner than I could have possibly hoped, given all that went wrong. Not only that, but they didn't charge me for the many, many hours multiple technicians and experts put in, and they were responsive and communicative throughout, keeping me in the loop with developments as they happened. Consummate professionals, fairer than fair, and they truly do put the customer first. 5 stars really isn't enough.

My son is a first year student at DMU. We are not familiar with DesMoines so when his truck broke down, I was looking for a local honest shop for the repair. The owner of Chuck and Larry's , Tim, was a tremendous help and quickly analyzed my problem, fixed it and charged a fair price. That kind of service and help for someone from out of state should tell all you need to know about using them for any automotive repair. I highly recommend Tim and his crew. They are good people and top notch mechanics.

I bought a used Chevy Traverse 2016 with 100k on it. After about 6 months the car was accelerating sluggishly and I noticed a shudder at various times during acceleration and when maintaining highway speeds. There were no codes indicating a problem. My normal mechanic replaced the transmission fluid and thought that might help. It didn't help and things got worse including a couple hard shifts if I wasn't gentle with it. My mechanic quoted me $5800 (ouch!) for a new transmission and torque converter however they recommended I take it to Chuck and Larry's since they are specialists. It was the best recommendation they could have given. Chuck and Larry's staff were incredibly knowledgeable. They spent several hours diagnosing the problem (having the transmission fluid changed by my mechanic didn't help). They determined that likely all I needed was a new torque converter. They also mentioned that while they had the car apart they could fix an oil leak that was giving me problems. All said and done it was a couple days and $2700 for the torque converter and oil leak fix. It's been 2 months and the car drives like a whole new vehicle. I saved $3000 and I don't have to top off the oil every week.

Unexpectedly had a transmission failure, I wasn’t sure where to call as I was not familiar with any repair shop. I talked to Tim. He told me he wasn’t sure about time. However I was not in a hurry and had read many good reviews. So I had it towed to him late afternoon. I honestly expected needing a new transmission on my 2008 Buick Envoy. Unexpectedly I received a phone call from Tim. He said they looked at it and it might be a reasonable replacement of the drive shaft but he didn’t promise me and explained other possibilities. I had them fix it and he called the very next day and said my car was ready. He explained what he did and other issues that could possibly happen in the future. He was definitely knowledgeable and very honest with me. I would highly recommend his shop. Excellent service!!

Lexus in the picture (Toyota) "we don't work on Toyotas". Kinda crazy to call yourself a "transmission shop" but don't work on manual transmissions. All good tho, the place I was originally going to go to is going to do it. I just stopped there because you're right off the interstate lol. Stay mad dawg 🤣

I Had a bad experience somewhere else so I took my son's car here for a second opinion, Tim got the car in very quickly and diagnosed it to be a much cheaper problem than replacing the whole transmission, the experience i had with Tim was i felt like I took a step back in time and had a person who actually cared about his customers. I was treated very well and I was given a very good description of what was wrong with the vehicle, I urge you to look no further than Chuck and Larry's. I went to drop a vehicle here for my work and had an awful experience. I went to leave the vehicle in a parking spot with the others in the lot when I believe the owner came out yelling for me to stop. I did stop since I was at this business, I was then told to put the vehicle elsewhere in a very disrespectful tone. I had given him the customer information I had and he started complaining "oh he's why I dont know about it". Still I continued and tried to put the vehicle where he asked, again it wasn't what he wanted. After the disrespect I had become a little frustrated and just asked him where he specifically wanted the vehicle so we could get this over with. At this point he called me an idiot saying no wonder I drive a tow truck threatened to fight me and told me never to go on his property again. I left the vehicle where it was and went on. I would never recommend a buisness who treats anyone like this let alone a possible buisness partner.

This shop is the best in the business and great honest great communication. Had transmission issues and some oil coolings lines leaking that can only be repaired with transfer case out. Tim is one of the greatest business man and communication was great. I also had oil pressure sending unit out for 2 years and he said you know its easy to get too when transmission is out. Saving me a afternoon of taking intake apart and put one in myself. They saved me 2k plus from other shop estimates. Not only do I recommend this shop. I would tell you dont even go anywhere else because that would be dumb. So Tim thanks for the service and care you put into my family's Chevrolet Suburban you are the best and I will be back!
