I left my differential to be rebuilt, speaking to the owner directly. He wrote my name down and said they were busy, but it'd probably be a week. I checked on it weekly, stopping by and looking at the differential sitting in the exact same place while other differentials and what not came and went. When I asked about it after 4 weeks, the owner's wife answered and said she would find out what was going on with it. She called back later to tell me that they looked at, but it was missing a bearing and a nut, and that the fluid coupling that the owner said was fine 4 weeks before, was bad. My guess is that they didn't want to mess with it. I stopped by and picked it up from the floor of the shop without a word from anyone as I left. I wouldn't recommend "Sta-Rite" Transmission to anyone. Absolutely terrible service and indifference towards their customers. THIS customer, at least!

This shop is terrible. I took my Dodge to have a transmission rebuild and it was stolen from their shop. I found it a week later and they did not take responsibility for the damage to my truck. You can take your car and if it is stolen, you yourself have to pay for the damage.

Austen operates a great company. He made the extra effort to make sure our transmission issues were properly resolved at a fair price. He had to deal with a salvage yard as to whether the dealer was correct about the used part being proper for our Jeep, but he stuck to his ethics, even to his possible financial detriment. Austen is very admirable business owner. Highly recommend.

Had transmission rebuilt in my old Chevy a couple of weeks ago. I found this place based on recommendations from the Google reviews. While the work appears solid, beware of where you are leaving your vehicle. Mine was returned with several dents from there very small, and very cramped, parking lot. If you have a nice vehicle, or just one you really care about, take it somewhere else. This is a known problem and they even admitted to it after the fact. $3200 worth of damage and no recourse. They will tell you that it is a neighborhood problem. As an east sider, I found that interesting. Seeing as how they are an east side business.

My car dealership told me I had a broken transmission and wrote me up a price estimate for $3,500 for a whole new one. I had decided to price it out for a fix rather than just a whole new transmission, and then I would sell the vehicle with a fair price estimate. The guys who worked with me at Sta-Rite were super friendly, helpful, and kind. Getting the diagnostics done was affordable and easy, they were very clear when they called me back with the "Good News and Bad News." Good news: it was NOT my transmission. Bad news: it was a clogged exhaust, and they referred me to another local family-owned shop who (spoiler) did a great job fixing the real issues. The reason I am writing a strong 5 star review is two-fold. They treated me honestly, kindly, and fairly. They stood to make a lot of money if they had just gone in and told me how much it would be to repair a transmission (like my shady dealership had), instead, they told me the real cause of the issue; they no longer stood to make money off of me but they were honest and helpful just the same. I trust them and would take any vehicles back for diagnostics, they are busy because they are good, they are good because they are kind, and they are trustworthy. Thanks Sta-Rite. Even if your other shop tells you its a transmission, take it here to find out for sure!

VERY satisfied with my experience at Sta-Rite! I had my truck in Des Moines for a meeting and the Transmission decided to die. Torque converter failed. They were pretty backed up and told me it would be 2-6 weeks to rebuild my transmission, and I was totally okay with that, knowing how hard it is to get good help. They were one of four transmission shops in Des Moines area recommended to me. They under promised and over delivered! They looked over everything from the engine back and had it done in just over a week! My truck is running great and comes with a fair warranty as well. I would HIGHLY recommended Sta-Rite Transmission! If you're looking for quality work at a fair price, visit Sta-Rite!

I sent my transmission there to get rebuilt and the transfer case. When I got the truck back three of the transfer case bolts were stripped and the hole was filled with jb weld. They are cheap for a reason…..
